Pentagon Paid $998,798 to Ship Two 19-Cent Washers

A small South Carolina parts supplier collected about $20.5 million over six years from the Pentagon for fraudulent shipping costs, including $998,798 for sending two 19-cent washers to a Texas base, U.S. officials said.

The company also billed and was paid $455,009 to ship three machine screws costing $1.31 each to Marines in Habbaniyah, Iraq, and $293,451 to ship an 89-cent split washer to Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Pentagon records show.

Prison isn't pleasant. It's not that she's a public danger, but by making an example of her and having her rot away that rest of her life in a 10x10 cell, others will be less likely to do the same sort of fraud.

I'm not sure how it works in USA, but here in my country all defense expenses are paid with public money, that is, taxpayers money. If it is the same in USA, then I don't see why some of you say she should not go to jail: you and the rest of the citizens of USA paid her those millions, because the Pentagon used your tax money to pay those bills, so she stole from you.

It also uses tax payer money to keep her in jail. She already used people's money and then people are going to be paying for her to stay in jail for 20 years. Didn't say she shouldn't go to jail, cause from the extent of her crimes, she should be locked up for a while. But she's not exactly a threat to the public that we need to keep her there. So I'm just thinking having her pay more in fines, and reducing her time in prison would be more reasonable.
