38% of Ontario teachers report being bullied

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation has published a survey showing that 38 per cent of all teachers are reporting being the victim of a school bully.

Teachers seriously get no respect, especially from today's punk-ass kids.  I don't remember if I've already mentioned this, but I've got a friend who's a teacher.  Amongst one of the more disruptive kids in her class is this rich kid who thinks he can get away with anything because his dad's a lawyer.  When she's had to get tough with him he's done the "I'll get my dad to sue you" bit.  Usually she's been able to find a way to resolve the problem without futher humiliating the kid, but lately, as his antics have escalated, and he's pulled this shtick more and more, she's just been calling his bluff.

At the risk of being sexist, female teachers will get picked on more because they ARE female.  With male teachers, there's always the subconscious fear of getting one's ass whupped.  With female teachers, that fear isn't there.

Elementary school teachers will get picked on more because the kids are just more immature, and therefore will be more likely to pull childish stunts in retaliation for being disciplined/punished by their teachers.

Rural school teachers will get picked on more because they're NOT in the big city.  They don't have as much/the same resources and support systems that city teachers have.

There is a surefire, guaranteed way to help cut down on this behaviour by kids against their teachers:  BRING BACK CORPORAL PUNISHMENT!!!  Instill some fear into the little brats, especially when they're in elementary.  Kids pull shit like this because they KNOW that they won't get punished for it.  Sure they may be suspended or expelled, but in reality, that's nothing.  They likely don't give a shit anyway.

There have been cases where kids have gotten themselves expelled ON PURPOSE so that they could stay home and that their parents couldn't make them go to school.  What has to change it the mentality of invincibility that a lot of these kids have.  How do you change it?  Do it like they did it in the good-ole days and BEAT IT into them.
