That was part of her agreement with her agency. Also, there is some noise now because a magazine caught her with her supposedly boyfriend (some sites speculate that the reason for leaving AKB48 was that she fell in love):

The boy is model Suzuki Tsutomu, who has denied everything, saying they are just good friends. Erepyon showed herself with a friend and the boy together (according to a now deleted blog post by her model friend), and someone saw Erena with some boys walking together.
