Itano was supposed to attend 6 handshake events for the fans who bought their single Chance no Junban, but had to leave already after the 3rd.
According to the staff, she’s been struck by acute gastritis but the plan was to return to the final event later that night, unfortunately she was unable to do so. Acute gastritis can be a very serious illness and can lead to vomiting blood, although there’s nothing saying it ever got that bad. It’s highly likely that it was caused by extreme stress which is far too common in this line of work.
It was later reported that also Maeda Atsuko was hospitalized after the 5th event for an unknown reason, but it’s highly likely that it’s because of overworking.
Hopefully the staff will take this seriously and don’t push the girls too hard from now on. Although I think it’s a mix of that and the girls actually pushing themselves too hard.
I really hope they're all right.
