http://www.audio-surf.com/UPDATE: Okay, after a monumental clusterfuck caused by server strain, an offline workaround called AudioSurfboard has been devised. ASB is unofficial and since this isn't some shitty hax0r site I'm not going to link it in the open forum, rather I'm going to leave it to you to manipulate a search engine and find a 6kb file called 'audiosurfboard.exe'.
You won't be able to play at all without ASB because the AS servers apparently can't handle the stress just yet, which means that you will also need the .NET framework. If you have an updated version of windows released this century then you most likely already have .NET, if not you can download it
here.
Below is a link to the AS client. If you already have it installed from the beta, you can skip this part.
Download client - 65MB
Extract and run the EXE to install the game. Don't try to run the game yet though!
Now browse to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. Find the file called 'hosts' and open it with notepad. Copy/paste the following three lines into 'hosts':
127.0.0.1 204.13.11.27
127.0.0.1 audio-surf.com
127.0.0.1 www.audio-surf.com
Save 'hosts' and close. Then browse to your audiosurf folder and open 'updater.ini' with notepad. There will be a line like this:
[app]
version = 2
If app version is 1 or 2, you don't need to change anything, you're done. If it says 3, change it to 2, save and exit updater.ini, then delete patchfile.zip from the AS folder.
Run audiosurfboard.exe. A console window will open, start AS when prompted. Don't try to create an account, just type anything in the username/password box to login.
Finally, enjoy unlimited playtime without worrying about the official server crashing. Online score tracking won't work though, but who really needs that?
One last thing, just before the beta went haywire I got an email informing me that someone destroyed my record for Tokkaiko Junjou. I know it was one of you, so fess up!
