CALL OF DUTY 4
« on: January 30, 2008, 02:34:31 AM »
Who here plays COD4?!  I'm sure someone does considering it's the most played game on Xbox Live right now.

If you guys want to add me we can play sometime, my username on XBL is "winter twilight"

I played it - I don't play games online though. It was a pretty solid game - I find it has less replay value than CoD2, but it was good while it lasted.

I freaking love COD4!! Online in Lvl37 last time I checked. Weapon of choice is probably the M4 Carbine or the MP5. Naturally playing with a sniper rifle takes a great degree of skill due to the fast paced nature of most of the game modes and it's not as easy without a mouse. Favourite moment may have to be whilst I was in the Last Stand mode, a player in the building above me was trying to shoot me through the wall but couldn't. He lined up for a better shot, but the same applies to me so for all of his wasted bullets, I picked him off with 1 shot to the head. Other magic moment was when in overtime in Search and Destroy, on the defense and the bomb was planted. Me and another teammate went to the site and he got picked off by the site camper. Being the Last Man Standing (and earning the reward for it) I threw a stun grenade and went around to killing him before defusing the bomb in time (earning the 'Hero' award). Love it, best multiplayer game I've ever played and the deepest with more weapons, camos and challenges to earn. Make sure to add me! My Live ID is Tuffty88.

Single player is incredible as well. Still playing through it on the first go and there's so many epic moments. If the success of the first Call Of Duty was responsible for the worn out WWII genre, I hope the next fad is creating moments in games that make you say 'HOLY SHIT' every 15 mins.

I think it was coz there were alot of other awesome games coming out then. But really I should pick up playin it again, it just sucks being so far behind.

OK I added you tuffty.  The most nerve wracking times for me are on Search and Destroy and I'm the last person left.  It's really bad!  I'm not really that good of a player so leaving it up to me is kind of a bad idea, lol.  I like all the sub machine guns the best (currently working on skorpion, second prestige, i haven't played long), but I also like the single-fire assault rifles.

I don't know how the snipers are on the computer but for the xbox they're really inaccurate for some reason.  They said they were going to patch it thankfully.  Also connections seem to SUCK, people lag out all the time, and people don't have the power to host 16-person-matches so they're constantly lagging.  That's another thing they said they were going to fix.

I played 1P a few times and it really does have a great campaign.  It really gets you emotionally involved which is really rare now a days.

After trying to complete one of the sniper challenges, I've made a vow. To never use a sniper rifle in multiplayer AGAIN. At least until some connection problems and this inaccuracy problem is hopefully patched. As an example I fix my sights on a guy, shoot and completely misses which he then spots and kills me easily. Anyone that can use a sniper rifle effectively on the xbox, well, I have to say my hat's off to you mate, cause I'm simply not that skilled a player.

And it's fun playing with you Masabi! :) Those guys on Fri night were campers, I was really hoping to just find their spot and unload an RPG round on them. :P Sorry for not having a headset, it's just not something I see myself very frequently, which is why I've never really bought one.

Dont snipe with the ACOG scope, apparently it decreases ur range.

I dont know about PC but for the PS3, they fixed the sniping aiming crap on the 50. cal

I can't even get 100 kills on any rifle to get the ACOG scope :( Closest one is around 48 with the M40.

And I don't know why it is but my connection always sucks when I'm playing against Masabi! If it was ok, I'd put up a much better challenge against you guys last night! XD

ACOG decreases accuracy, but increases range
(your bullets dmg dont decrease damage as quickly if you are shooting at someone far away)

it also sucks for using on sniper rifles
=p

Yeah they said in a press release that the sniper's accuracy was going to be fixed, haha.  My boyfriend Dale (which was playing with us) plays as the sniper exclusively and has finished all the challenges as it.  I just wanted to say.. "HOW!?"  Lol.

Yeah, they were campers but whatever.  The only way to win on Bog if you get the "bad side" (the one nearest the building, right side of the map) is to take the "good side" back, and when people camp the "good side" it makes it extremely difficult.  I was surprised at your skill level though XD

edit: Let's play together again really soon... I like playing with my friends and it's rare to see someone from JPHIP on xbox.

Despite me saying I wouldn't, I did use a sniper rifle again, and actually got a number of decent kills, including headshots. Might have to do with the the players though as I was owning them all beforehand with the Mini-Uzi (weakest weapon in the game IMO and only using it to get the 150 kills with it). And I picked up the sniper rifle because I ran out of bullets, so I set myself up nicely amongst some grass (this was in Bog btw) and made the kills, even beating the Invisible I challenge, which is something I thought I could not do. :D

Another particularly sweet moment came today in Overgrown. Two guys inside one of the abondoned buildings giving me grief, was going to use an RPG but found out my class had C4 instead. So I planted it in one of the doorways, I see them come out and BANG, 3 guys down and beating the Multi-C4 challenge as well :D This game is so awesome.

CoD5 is supposedly being done by the team that did 3 rather than the much better 2 and 4. I'm not holding out high hopes for it.

There's lots of other good FPS games in the pipeline, so it should be a good year for shooter fans anyway.
