I still wonder why all these people put hundreds of thousands or millions into a violin to play them. Shouldn't they all be in a safe away from these people. I mean they are really rare <_< At least it wasn't a Stradivarius

because they sound better(or uniquely different) than anything else. Instruments are meant to be played, and to have something that sounds that good and not let it be heard I think is a shame.

He broke his own million dollar violin, and someone lent him their Stradivarius to play at a valentine's day concert? They must really love his playing XD

I totally disagree. An instrument's a waste if it's not being played. Besides, these guys are the best of the best. It's not like race car drivers go out on the track with a Honda Civic either.

An instrument's a waste if someone breaks a one of a kind piece that probably never cold be replicated.

Plus race car drivers still do race with Honda Civics, your probably thinking about Nascar but they have 2-3 replacements to fill in the void.

well I really wouldn't call it "a waste" if the instrument was played.

Like take a talented singer, would it be a waste if s/he were to have some accident that in someway prevented her/him from singing?

^ I think the expression for that is 'its a shame' or 'its sad'

'Its a waste' if it never gets played.

^yeah that's what I was thinking, but I was also thinking I could have been using the wrong usage for it all these years so I didn't say it. XD

Well lets just say this thing is an exception.

No matter how the violin is used, it gains in value...but when it breaks its a waste  (Depends how bads the damage)

well I guess it's a matter of opinion...

To me I don't really care about the monetary value of the instrument, as long as it sounds good. It just happens to be that, the best are usually the most expensive...
