And also i think Emily is genuinely impressed too

Man, shine on is definitely another masterpiece from Idoling!!! i like how the higher than average note makes the girls 'work' on it
and in turn creates a vocal sound that touches my heart. Not to mention that it is catchy as hell.

Lastly, anyone can confirm that it was Karen who sang the "ippai no merodii o" line? because it really surprised me how she can work such a high note considering the type of voice she have.

After listening to it a few times, I think I'm pretty sure that's Umeko singing that line. (and if it's not Umeko, I'd say it's Asahi, but I think it's Umeko ;p)

Hmm, Umeko's voice is higher pitched and more clear sounding. Whereas that line sounded low pitched and a bit muffled, typical of Karen or Asahi's voice. (Which is the most likely suspect)
You can hear Umeko's solo voice before that line in "Chocolate ni waraiatta ne" and "Soboku na emi misetekureta ne". Huge difference especially in the higher note.

Completely separate topic I want to ask those in the know. I am planning to be in Japan for a few days between 10-12 June. Is there anywhere I can find out if Idoling!!! may have any event going on at that time? It is probably a long shot but worth a try asking!

Check the official site often, June is a little far away at this time for anything to be planned.
10-12 june is tuesday till thursday. Handshake events (if any) are usually on weekends, studio recordings on fridays. Your best bet would be Shibuhachi which is now usually on wednesday and almost every week. Nicohachi tends to be on sundays/mondays.

However, the past 2 years they've done the Zepp Tour, which always ended in the beginning of June, so all other activity around that time is suspended. But it's already April and we still haven't heard anything for a big June concert...
So it's a bit unsure at the moment. You'll need to wait for any news the coming weeks.

No official announcement yet so far. As discussed in episode 1109, they still have no successor since Maipuru's graduation. I think it's just leader by default(early number). I'm not quite understand about this 自称リーダー. Sayanee was the first 自称リーダー and tonchan being a 自称リーダー was already been discussed even before Maipuru was appointed to be the 2nd leader. Rumor said Sayanee wanted Tonchan to be the leader before the staffs appointed Maipuru.
