I'm not THAT easy to convince, I just choose to be agreeable sometimes.

I'm finally done with this!!! XD Sorry if it's too long or something. I started out translating sentence by sentence but then I got too tired of that. I didn't translate the last part, the one with the annoucements b/c it's kinda boring-ish.
This week's episode just finished loading on my iTunes so I'll get started as soon as I can. GANBARIMASU~~~
................................
FIVE STARS - 11/12
Opening:
Yesterday was Reina’s birthday and she turned 19. “YAAAAY~” She feels like 19 is very big (as in a very big deal). There is a big gap between 18 and 20 and 19 is right in the middle. She feels one step closer to being an adult but in her heart, she feels like she hasn’t changed at all.
Rapid Reina Subject Change :P
Her photobook was released last month and she thanks everyone who purchased it. Reina’s favorite outfit was the pink and leopard-print loungewear thing. It was shot in a hotel room and the weather outside was really nice. So the sunlight coming in the window made her skin look really good as well as accentuate the pink in the outfit. The shots were also to her liking.
Normally, Reina shows the finished product to her mom to see what she thinks. In the photobook, she wears this emerald green bikini and is laying on an inflatable bed thingy (the pic I posted before) Upon seeing that photo, her mom was like, “Why are you wearing pads on your butt and chest?” Reina thought it was hilarious, but was quite surprised. She notes that the bikini cuts of at the tops of her thighs and you can see her butt pretty clearly. She was watching her mom as she looked at the photobook and then her mom proceeded to turn it upside down to look at it. Reina acknowledges that that shot does make her assets look a little bigger (“swollen”). She thinks that if anyone found themselves in that position, they would be a little worried too. So after mom said that, she was like, “It’s not a pad, it’s just my really nice butt” Her mom really laughed at that.
Reina thinks of photobooks as sort of memory albums of that year so she’s happy to have gotten one every year. She says that the shooting (of the photobook) is also a lot of fun and she really likes them. In her current photobook, she wears a pink racer-like outfit and at the location of those shots, there were tons of bugs. You can tell by her face that she was bothered. :P She also liked the red dress and the lighting of those shots. She prefers natural lighting over artificial studio lighting.

Mail:
First Mail: I Am Chicken talks about how she is past age 20 but her voice is really high and is very energetic. Her friends always tell her to act her age. She feels troubled because she is so KY etc. She wants to know how to get others to lighten up and get out of the embarrassing situations.
Reina thinks that there are people that are happy and people that are unhappy about being told to settle down. People are always telling her to calm down too. She thinks it’s ok to ignore them. XD She also thinks you should be energetic if you feel like it. Reina says she gets really loud in the dressing rooms during concerts because she’s so pumped up. Jun Jun always says, “Tanaka-san, this is bad! This is bad!” (Tanaka-san, yabai, yabai). The members see her weird side then but on stage, she is totally different. So she concludes that it’s ok to laugh at whatever you think is funny.
Second Mail: Maki Maki wants to know what brand the purple jacket from the Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari is. And how Reina stays in shape.
Reina gets all nostalgic, remembering the song talking about her yankii-ness. She is sorry to say that is wasn’t her own clothing, but it was selected by the staff so she really doesn’t know. But for keeping her figure, Reina says she doesn’t like sports and the only time she really moves around is at concerts so she focuses on her eating habits. She tries to reduce the amount of food she eats little by little.
Third Mail: Fukada Musume, Suki Suki Mikarin wants to know what happened to the mantis living in Reina’s entry way.
Reina proceeds to tell us that her brother’s friend removed it so it’s not there anymore and they don’t have to worry about it laying eggs or anything.
Fourth Mail: Russian wants to know how Reina deals with the cold of winter.
Reina is NOT a cold weather person and when it gets really cold, she’s like “heater+socks+coat” She also recommends hot baths and heater packs.

Five Stars Corner
Recently, Reina watched 6 movies in 3 days. (Channeling Miki-sama? ) The movies were “20th Century Boys”, “Paco and the Magic Book”, “Eagle Eye”, “Ironman”, “Detroit Metal City” and “Sex and the City”. Watching “Eagle Eye” makes Reina think that computers are really amazing. They make it so easy to do things, which also scares her a little. She started watching “Iron Man”, on the plane during this year’s fan club tour to Hawaii but only got about 40 minutes into it before falling asleep. But she thought it was really good and she really likes overseas (Hollywood) movies. Reina thinks “Sex and the City” is a chick flick and not something that guys should see. The middle part made her really sad because even though one of the women (Carrie Bradshaw, if anyone wants to know  ) gets married at the end, she takes the long way around to get there. Reina’s mom doesn’t want her to go through that. She liked “Paco and the Magic Book” and “Detroit Metal City” because of the voices. She thinks the girl who plays Paco is really cute. When she first saw the commercial, Reina began to think that mixed race people are really cute, and she wishes she was mixed too. She also talks about two of the actors in the movies (Abe Sadao and Matsuyama Kenichi) that she thought were really great.
The five stars go to Reina’s satisfied heart. (For watching 6 movies in 3 days because she hasn’t had the chance to go the movie theater lately)

^ thanks for the summaries.  I learn alot about Reina from this.

-I checked out her pb, watch her making of DVD and the Real Challenge, she really cute AND pretty AND sexy in the pictures.  her clothes are really lovely, the lolita dress, to the stylish outfits and the bikinis.  I LMAO when I heard her comment on her "really nice butt", you really do, Reina.
-It seems Reina is really scared of bugs, that's cute!
-Reina lives with her family in Tokyo?  her whole family? I'm just curious cuz I know Reina from Fukuoka and that MoMusu girls that's not from tokyo usually have one or both parents and siblings living with them while usually the father stayed back @ the home.
btw, how many siblings she have? i never knew that.
-It seems Reina likes to watch Hollywood movies and stuff, or it seems that most japanese follow hollywood media, movies and series, etc.  The irony, while they like it, I have no interest in it anymore and that I'm more interested in Asian media,i.e. Hong Kong, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc. movies, series, shows and programs.  I don't know long it has been since I'd went to the movie theatre and watch the latest movie.... years?  :? I find much dislike in the new ones, and find myself enjoying the older movies much more (the same could be said about HK series/movies, I'd been watching the old ones, not the new ones).
-Since Reina comment that mixed people are cute, I would like to say that most of family, my sisters and close relatives, think that way as well.  It seems that "they have the best of both worlds" they said, "maybe even more".  Our family are mixed asian, khmer, chinese, thai, viet...  and many of our friends would comment on our "good looks", my sister seems especially fond and proud of them being mixed.
-Also, regarding the 4th mail: for someone her size and weight, I don't doubt that she'll feel the full intense of the cold, even on the cool autumn night. She definitely needs to wear more layers of clothing to get warm since she almost have no fat to keep her warm.
Do keep warm, Reina.  stay healthy and be genki.

nice translation strawberry

it's cute how she likes the leopard-print clothing...reminds me of her house XD

@BigDnm01
as far I know...Reina lives with only her mom and her little brother (only other sibling)  her dad and grandparents must be back in fukuoka

I still find english movies most entertaining but I'm have an equal love for english/asian dramas.  well except maybe tvb dramas...geh those haven't been good since I was a little kid XD

Five rotating host who aims at the twinkling stars. The five stars delivering talks and music, this is FIVE STARS.
Your host for Wednesday is Tanaka Reina from Morning Musume.
Listeners of InterFM, good evening!

Um, as you all know, I am the voice of Kirara in the Sunday morning Anime, [Onegai My Melody Kirara]. Recently there, there was a new voice actor that came. It's a male voice actor. At first, it was like "Nice to meet you, please take care of me" kind of greet and meet. However, the atmosphere was different than usual. His clothes was really high neck, lace style (She actually said dress here, but that's awkward). Another voice actor whispered to me, "Eh? Something is not right here." (laughs) That person, on the externally is male, but internally is female. But that person's tension is surprisingly high, like, "what~ how~is that?!". That person was really funny but also polite. It's like you won't get tired of that person even being with him for a long time. In this business, there seems to be lots of this type of people. (If you still don't get it, she's talking about gay mans.) I think everyone already know this, but the voice trainer of Morning Musume is also this kind of person. Another is the stylist. I first met these kind of people when I joined Morning Musume. At first, when I found out all the members had to get changed in front of this stylist I was like, "Everyone has to change in front of mans.....is that proper?" Later when I heard from the others, "Oh that guy? He's fine, he has no interest in women." They told me like it doesn't even bother them. So I told myself, "Well, if that's what they say, then it's probably fine." But really, I was still against it. Well, I don't really think about this anymore now....but I do. These kind of people, they really like to eat sea weed. And they jump around topics when talking, but they're easy to talk to. I noticed that from the new voice actor of My Melody. I thought, "this type of person is not bad." That person can really stir up the scene during recordings, like the place is filled with laughter. I really want to get my makeup done, at least once, by IKKO-san (A famous Japanese makeup artist, who's probably gay, since Reina mentions him here). And I want to hear him say "Dondake~ (how~is that)" live (He has a TV show, and that's his catchphrase). And although we've met on Haromoni@ once, I want to meet Miss Haruna Ai again (The transsexual famous for impersonating Matsuura Aya). I kept seeing her on TV lately and I think she's really funny and cute! So this is FIVE STARS Wednesday with Tanaka Reina. Please look forward to all the listener's mail, talk and music in tonight's show. Um, today we'll start with this song. On sale on the 26th, from Morning Musume's new cover album, Ahu Yuu-san Tribute cover album, [COVER YOU]. The song is, Koi no Dial 6700.

[Morning Musume - Koi no Dial 6700]

You are listening to FIVE STARS Wednesday with Tanaka Reina. Let's read some listener's mail I've received from everyone~

First mail is from "Aakun"-san.
"Reina-chan, Yappi~nuts! I heard that you're into that (brand name censored)'s pastry. I love that series. There's like about 20 different kind. How many have you tried so far?"

Ah, you actual said "Yappi-nuts". I think I've used that once in Pocket Morning, probably I never said it, but I wrote it. It would seem like I made this up because I was in love with peanuts, maybe I'll use it again later, thanks for saying it! Ah yes, so which kind I'm into lately, I didn't know there was 20 different kinds. I've tried, um, about 5 so far. There are lots of peanuts in them! I'll go search at the supermarket and try to taste all 20 kind next time.

Next mail is from "Panda-pan"-san. (* This is the webmaster of one of the best Reina fan site on the Internet, Rei-force: http://www.reina.ne.jp/ Too bad he has decided to stop updating the site since Reina's birthday this year.)
"Ah, Reina is 19 years old~ Speaking of 19 years old, when you were 13, on Hello!Morning, you said, "For people generally speaking, you become an old lady at the age of 19." Now that you're actually 19, how does it feel?"

Eh, I can't believe I'm 19. Normally speaking, 19 years old is still very young. But within Hello Project, everyone is young. That's why I think 19 is already very old and I don't like it. Like, really, stop it! Feels sad being an old lady. Ah, I actually said that on Hello!Morning. But really back at that time when I was 13, I really think being 19 is like an old lady, a splendid adult. Now that I think about it, my mind haven't change at all. Time flies being in the show business. I still feel like my heart is at 13 years old, always still relying on mom, but I don't feel like continuing this from now on. (laughs) I better work hard as I have already turned 19, it's like I better tell myself this.

Next mail is from "The Yokohama Power"-san.
"How are you! This is my first time writing in. The self proclaim "Always 13 years old" Reina-chan has turned 19 on the clear day of November 11th. I'm in the same grade (age) as you, turning 19 gives me an uneasy feeling. Especially on the actual birthday thinking, "Next year I'll be an adult". When faced with reality, I worry if things will be fine. Reina-chan, as you turned 19, do you have any eagerness or uneasiness feelings? Please tell me so I can use it as reference."

Yeah, the eagerness after turning 19.....it's like trying not to forget the feelings of the past. Like, "Settle down, now that you're 19", never say that to me! However, I can feel that I am settling down. As the days passes, I really don't like the feeling of it. And about being uneasy....19 is like an adult already right? But in my mind, it's like I haven't done anything yet. I'm very close with my mom and I still rely on her a lot. So I think......that's not very good. I still really don't do any house cleaning, cooking or laundry. Oops, I do house cleaning, sorry. But only a small bit of cooking, so I don't have a specialty dish. I've never even press the button on the washing machine. Well, as a 19 year old, I'll start with setting this goal, "To learn to press the button on the washing machine" (Laughs).

Next mail is from "Shou"-san.
"Not too long ago, I bought the Morning Musume calender for next year. Everyone's smile in it are very cute. I have a question. I don't like having my picture taken. More like, I can't really smile for pictures, therefore I don't like it. How do you smile for the camera properly?"

Um, that's right. Well, just laugh, it's not that hard.....I shouldn't say it like that (laughs) you're asking for my help here. How should I say this.....when I first debuted, I didn't really smile a lot. There was even a feature of "Meet the girl that doesn't smile, Tanaka Reina". Ishikawa-san taught me to say "Kimuchi~" when taking pictures (Like saying Cheese!). Back then, I did smile for normal pictures (in private), but I couldn't smile when I was nervous. But now, I'm so used to the camera, I can laugh even if there's nothing funny. But it's weird to smile when there's nothing funny going on. My fake (pretend) face is so weird. I think there is a way to do this~ For example, raise your lips like you're going "Humph!", your eyes will then be like "Fu~nya!" (laughs) I don't know! I'm not a person good at smiling. But really, the smile you have when you're happy and the fake smile you make are totally different. Um, how about have your friends on the side make you laugh? I actually use this method. For example, during photoshoots, I'd ask the staffs to "please do something funny" so I can laugh naturally. Even sometimes if you're showing your teeth, be it a smile or a big laughter. Please give it a try.

That's all for today, I'll be looking forward to more mail from everyone. Please mail to me, whether it is song request or you just want to talk. The email address is five-reina@interfm.co.jp. Next, it a song by DA PUMP, "if..."

[DA PUMP - if...]

That was "if..." by DA PUMP. That's from 2003? when I was first selected for Morning Musume when I first came to Tokyo. That was a very hit song from year 2000, but why 2003. Back then, one of my good friends sang this jokingly, almost like impersonating them. This is kinda like a memory of Fukuoka, this song kinda reminds me of my time in Fukuoka. That's why I like this song and chose it. "if..." is my favorite song from DA PUMP. And that's why I chose it. There's more FIVE STARS with Tanaka Reina after this.

[Morning Musume - Seishun Jidai]

That was from the Ahu Yuu-san Tribute cover album [COVER YOU] that's going on sale on November 26th, Seishun Jidai by Morning Musume.

This is FIVE STARS Wednesday with Tanaka Reina. Next it's the "MY FIVE STARS" segment where each of the FIVE STARS host gives a five star rating to everything and anything. Not too long ago, I went with Sayu to Tottori prefecture to promote our concert tour. It was my first time going to Tottori. I had no ideas about anything there, like what they're famous for. The schedule that day was very tight, with all the appearances on TV and radio shows. They said we had no time to eat their famous food items during the day. However, the kind staffs used time in between and allowed us to try the famous Soba there. We went to a soba house that was said to be one of the best there. I asked for warm soba with meat and eggs. Also, there's a kind of soba call Warigo-soba that's famous too. It's just normal zaru soba, but with 3 separate bowls. Bowls of radish, dried bonito, and Seaweed. Compared with the warm soba, this kind is more traditional. Myself, I like the warm kind more. Sayu said she likes the cold ones more. The Dashi there is very good too. The shop's atmosphere was very traditional and local, it's give you this healing sensation. After that, we went to a radio station for a live broadcast. There, we talked about the time during our auditions. Sayu mention things that we've never talked about before, when I heard it, I was like, "Oh yeah, that did happened". Back when before we got accepted, Sayu and I had to stay in the same hotel in Tokyo. On the day we got accepted, we both went back to the hotel and had meals with our moms at the restaurant inside that hotel. I actually felt quite blue that day after realizing I got accepted, because that means I'll have to leave behind my grandma and friends. I was thinking about it over and over in my head. I was so troubled, I didn't really eat. I was afraid of being alone, having to leave behind my beloved Fukuoka and that's when I started crying out loud. This was infront of Sayu's mom too. But I didn't care what was in front of me at the time, all that was in my head was Fukuoka. I cried a lot, the tears wouldn't stop. Well, I was happy of being accepted. I honestly was really happy about it, just, even during interviews, I stated that I just didn't like being away from Fukuoka. Reporters always ask, "When it was announced that all 3 of you were accepted, why was there like 10 seconds of silence before you had any reactions. What were you thinking in that 10 second?" So I would reply with, "I was over joyed and didn't know how to react, because there were so many cameras there." But what really was in my head at that time was my friends in Fukuoka and my grandma. Well, I was also very excited about joining and the feelings are all tied in together. The first job we had as new members was to each day learn 3 to 4 dances of old Morning Musume songs. It was hard because I had no real dancing experience. 3 to 4 song one day, and then the next day is another 3 to 4 songs! During days that we're really excited, in the hotel, Sayu and I would be like, "Let's review what we've learn today!" "So Momusu sticks their tummy out like this when dancing", we were so playing around, it was really fun. A more painful experience was during the first 6th gen hand shake event. Things were happening all around us. We had to autograph these signs for all the fans that came that day. How many did we sign....like a couple thousands, probably! When we were signing those in the office, we didn't finish until very late in the day and we haven't ate dinner. Those people in the office weren't very caring, they didn't even ask if we were hungry. After we finished and went back to the hotel, Sayu and I ate a lot of food and deserts. That kind of life lasted a while, and it made me grow sideways (get fat). At the heaviest, I was more than 7 Kg more than what I weight now. When I saw myself on TV, I thought that's not how an Idol is suppose to look like, so I went on a diet. With all the hardship in the past, now I can eat and do what ever I want. Today I give FIVE STARS to the approximately 6 years since I have debuted.

[Morning Musume - Pepper Keibu (Album Version)]

Today last song was a track from the November 26th on sale, Morning Musume's Ahu Yuu-san Tribute cover album, COVER YOU, Pepper Keibu (Album Version). This is FIVE STARS Wednesday with Tanaka Reina. Morning Musume's 2008 autumn concert tour, Resonant LIVE, is on going right now. It's almost the final showing. This weekend, we'll be at Chiba. Next Monday, which is a holiday (in Japan), we'll be in Niigata. Speaking of Niigata, that's Kusumi Koharu-chan's hometown. Koharu, she's always bringing stuff that her mom's friends made, like special fried eggs and stuff. It taste really good! So good you want to bring it back home using tupperware. I think the food in Niigata are all so delicious. Sometimes Koharu would bring back some sweets too. The one I like is Persimmon chocolate. The ones made with the seeds dipped in normal or white chocolate. Those are sooo good! So I'm really looking forward to Niigata. Please send all your mail to me, whether it's song request or you just want to talk, I'll be waiting for them. The email address is five-reina@interfm.co.jp. Tomorrow's host is Nakajima Takui-san. I'll see you all next week. So, tomorrow the whole day, let's GanbaReina~!

wanted to give Reina a hug after hearing about the hardships of 6 years ago but I'm really glad she was able to overcome everything

Thanks~

I KNEW someone else did translations somewhere!!! So I'm assuming I'm off the hook for it then. :P

I love how in the first part, there is no mention of the actual word "gay". She says just about everything else but avoids being super direct. That's Japanese for you. Glad she doesn't seem to be homophobic though.
It's cute how dependent Reina is on her mom.
I hella remember that shoot for Otome Gumi when Reina like refused to smile. Poor Rika-chan was trying so hard to get her to.
AWWWW~ Reina was thinking of her family when the Rokkies won the audition.

Reina, along with LinLin appeared on Sayu's Konya mo Usa-chan Peace 20081125, Ep 112.
I read the translation of it on Sayu's thread and on the show, Reina mentions a Massa.  I'm assuming this is Sudo Maasa of BK, but is there another Massa? or maybe it's her manager... what her manager name?
i'm just curious cuz if it is BK's Maasa, I didn't know they were that good of a friends. it's a pleasant surprise...
it's kinda cute actually, the smallest member of MoMusu and the 2nd Biggest H!P member, hanging out.  It's really kawaii.

^ Reina said "Maasa from Berryz..." whenever she talked about her (don't think Reina would directly name her manager on air or anywhere in public). There was a fan story a while back about spotting Reina, Maasa, and Aika hanging out together. I didn't know Reina was close to Maasa either. I always thought among the Kids she was quite close to Miyabi and Airi from their Aa! days, and Risako seems to get along well with her too, but  Maasa was a surprise.

I just read Tanaka Reina's Five Stars ep 61 (2008.11.26) translation here .

In it, it did confirm that she's talking about Maasa of BK and there they're good friends.  Other than that it talks about her "bath" and JunJun's a pervert.   :P
HAHA and the things that happen on her birthday and the concert.  she really have a good 19th birthday and great moments.
Hearing her talk about it all, she sound so kawaii and sweet.
In contrast to what I initially thought of her, she really is kind, sweet, carefree and gentle.  You know how people talk about her yankii (rebel) image, and also if anyone remembers when she and linlin were guests on Sayu's show, how talks about if she wasn't in MoMusu, she would be on the street up to no good. ( i'm still LMAO on that one!)
Well,... that's what my initial thought of her would be, well a little better, but just about, like little flirtatious, bitchy, showy, attitude-y,etc.
But after learning more about her, I see her not like that no more, she's really nice, kind, gentle, sweet, funny, and seems to cherish friendship and love.
all in all, I'm beginning to fall for her....  oh my god, what will I do about Eri... :O

been going thru my files and realize that I don't have the english subtitle files for the following pb "making of" videos:

Tanaka Reina:
2nd PB [2005.10.17] れいな (Reina)
3rd PB [2006.05.10] 少女R (Shoujo R)
4th PB making of video - Alo-Hello! Tanaka Reina
5th PB [2007.09.27] GIRL

Whether there is or is not, can someone please inform me?  please and thank you.
btw, soft subs (subtitle files) are fine, too.

^thanks for the info, that's good to know and likewise, if I find out anything I'll post it here, although it's not like I have inside source and stuff, so by the time I know, everyone knows as well...

and just so u know, in the RE(Return) complete works, I did have subtitled video of several of the pb, but it's not the same.  The RE version were only footage unique to the RE and not the complete version, like the one I want.  plus, I do have the subbed of Alo-Hello! DVD, but not of the pb making of video and that's what I want, along with other subbed pb making video.  I do have the DVD-rip, though...

BUMP!!! XD
So I was thinking about sending in an email to Reina's radio show, but I really don't know what to ask her about. I was thinking either asking about that Alo Hello pic of her being carried by Aika (I kinda wanna know what's up with that. ) or something about her liking of mixed people.
What do you guys think?

Edit: I'm also thinking about asking her for some advice about a sort of "boy problem" I'm kinda having. This would probably be the easiest.

Edit 2: Does anyone know if you can send in emails from that little comment box on the FIVE STARS site? Or is that only for comments, not for mail?

I do know that, but I'm not sure that the email that I use supports Japanese text.

That's true. I'm really thinking about doing it but I'm gonna wait until I have the time to do it well, not just something quickly written that will be full of mistakes.
