UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!#5
The two took their breakfast in Hitomi’s office. Microwave heated cinnamon rolls from Starbucks and coffee made by Ayaka. It couldn’t be better.
Hitomi smiled when she noticed Rika’s pinky sticking up as she held her coffee cup. “Rika-chan is so kawaii…”
Rika smiled back at Hitomi after taking a sip from her coffee. Hitomi attempted to imitate Rika but it proved difficult for her. Her pinky was too stiff. Rika laughed at Hitomi’s failed attempts. Hitomi gave up and placed her cup on a coaster.
“Rika-chan, You wanna work for me today?”
Rika nodded. She had nothing to do anyway.
“Wait here…” Hitomi stood up and walked to the tall shelves that concealed her from Rika’s view.
Rika sat still on the sofa, waiting for Hitomi to return. She recalled having left the folder regarding the merger between CorPrint and PubCom.
Should I ask Hicchan about it? … An office employee must’ve seen it and placed it with the other portfolios… It would probably be best if I don’t… Hicchan’s only been in charge for three years and it’s been five years…Rika’s thought were interrupted by a loud thud. She looked to the source of the sound. The sound came from a stack of folders that fell from Hitomi’s hands to the floor. Beside the fallen stack was Hitomi.
From the door came a male-sounding voice. “So… she does work for the company…”
Rika looked towards the door where a man, looking a little over forty years old stood with a mocking expression.
Hitomi was angry. “What are you doing in my office?”
Rika wondered who this man was and why Hitomi was angry at him.
“Well, I just dropped by. I thought we were having a video conference with the boys.”
“I had a conference with my brothers. Nobody asked you to come. Now, please leave.”
“Aww, Hicchan… You’re leaving To-san out? What happened to family?”
To-san? Hicchan’s father?“Don’t call me that! … You don’t have a family. Leave my office at once.”
“I really trained you well… tough as nails… like a man… just like your father…”
“You are brittle… I am nothing like you… I trained myself…”
“Oh? Taking all the credit, eh?”
“I deserve all the credit I can get. Now leave before I do something to hurt you, old man…”
Jin knew that when Hitomi starts talking about physical injury, she meant it. “Well then, I’m off… I wouldn’t want to go home to Saitama with a black-eye again.”
“You got it wrong old man, one, you’re not allowed to step into the home in Saitama and two, you’re not gonna get a black eye. You’re gonna get a broken rib. Leave.”
Jin slowly walked out of the office with a smirk. “That girl sure is pretty… be careful, Hicchan…”
Rika was scared. Hitomi was angry like that time they came home separately from the meeting with Ayaya. Also, she didn’t like the tone in how Hitomi’s father spoke. As if he had something planned for them.
Hitomi looked over to Rika and found her motionless.
Damn, did I scare her?“Rika… Gomen…” Hitomi walked to Rika, still seated in the sofa. She knelt in front of Rika and held her hands. “Gomen…”
Rika still did not move. She didn’t know what to do. She was glad that Hitomi’s expression softened again but the memory of seeing Hitomi so angry like that scared her more than anything.
“That was my father… Yoshizawa Jin… I’m sorry you had to meet him… I really don’t consider him my father anymore…It’s all by blood… He threw me out here to keep me from Ken and Seito… He just wanted to tie his puppet string neatly on them… That’s why I made it a point to meet up with Ken and Seito over video conference to make sure that he doesn’t succeed…”
Rika now somewhat understood Hitomi’s rage. She didn’t need to know the nitty-gritty details. Rika slowly pulled Hitomi to herself and embraced Hitomi.
It’s okay, Hicchan…I’m here for you… … … I also have ‘family members’ I don’t want in my life… Let’s forget about them all, together...
