Ch. 2 - Fall in My HeartCrispy red leaves crackled under my black boots as I pulled my crimson overcoat tighter around my body to seal out the chilly fall wind. The sun was still shining, reminding me of the summer I spent with my Ai-chan. Yes, MY Ai-chan. My heels clicked on the concrete, carrying me towards our picnic spot. We had plenty of good memories there.
When that tree came into view, I could feel my lips curl up even higher. It was beautiful shades of red, gold and brown now, quite different from its usual emerald green hue. With my excellent vision, I could see the branches where we sat and kissed softly for what seemed like hours. Seated under our beloved plant was Ai-chan, on a pink and white striped blanket. My pace sped up until I was nearly running, keeping a strong grip on my purse.
“Hey, sweetie”, I panted once I arrived at the edge of the fleece picnic cloth. “Hey, babe”, she giggled, welcoming me into her arms once I removed my shoes. Our lips met in our usual greeting, caressing each other lovingly. I mumbled “I missed you”, into her skin, planting a trail of tiny kisses along her jaw line softly. “We just talked this morning”, she replied, cradling my head on her shoulder as our legs intertwined playfully.
I stopped and looked up into those absolutely mesmerizing brown eyes, replying, “So?” She wrapped her arm around my back and pulled me up into a sitting position. “And that’s why I love you”, she whispered into my ear, before nibbling lightly.
We fooled around for while, just kissing and nibbling softly. Before both of us confessed that we were hungry and our stomachs would not allow us to continue. “Oh, I picked up some sweet potatoes on my way here”, I recalled, scrambling to my bag to retrieve the paper bag filled with the delicious vegetable of fall. Ai-chan grabbed her own backpack and opened it to reveal a plethora of items from the convenience store. We spread out our meal and began to eat.
“You have to try this”, Ai-chan told me, holding up a bite of chestnut rice on her chopsticks, tenderly placing it in my open mouth. “That’s so good!”, I cheered, my eyes closing with pleasure. Peeling back the skin of one of the sweet potatoes, I held it up to her. She took a healthy-sized bite and squealed at its fluffy texture and delicate sweetness. We continued to feed each other until most of the food was gone and our tummies were full and happy.
“That was delicious”, Ai-chan grinned, satisfied as she lay in my arms. I simply nodded in agreement, pulling her closer and burying my face in her hair. “Gaki-san?”, she questioned, prompting me to look at her, “Do you love me?” I almost laughed at her, but refrained to avoid any misunderstandings.
Instead, I leaned down towards her, planting the most passionate kiss I could on her lips. “Yes, I love you more than anything in the whole world”, I finally answered, after releasing her from my love hold. “Good because I. Love. You.”, she smiled, kissing me after each word.
The sun was starting to set, a beautiful watercolor painting unfolding before our eyes. Various shades of pink, yellow, orange and red brushed across the expansive canvas of sky, “Let’s go home”, my sweetie murmured, running her finger along my jaw line. I eased her off of me and stood up, looking down at her gorgeous figure. “Some assistance, Cinderella?”, I said in my best Prince voice, holding my hand out for her to take. “Thank you, Prince”, she giggled shyly, as I pulled her up. We both started to laugh, recalling the fairy tale we acted out as kids. We alternated playing the role but secretly, I always loved playing the Prince, because I got to treat Ai-chan like the royal princess that she is.
I brought her hand up to my mouth and kissed it gently, making her blush brightly. “C’mon, let go so I can pack up”, she mock scolded me, but didn’t make a move to detach her hand from mine. Pouting, I reluctantly let go and stepped back so she could pack up. I always end up watching her, when she cleans, when she sings, when she sleeps. It still blows my mind at how exquisitely gorgeous she is. How absolutely perfect she is.
But today, I could see how tired she was. Her elegant eyelids were drooping a bit and her smooth, milky skin was slightly weary. I wrung my hands in apprehension, wanting to help ease her fatigue and stress. “Honey, are you ready?”, she asked, looking at me with an ever-cheerful smile, as if everything is perfectly fine in the world. I couldn’t help but let my concern fly away in the balmy breeze that surrounded us.
Then I got a great idea.
I turned away from the one I love and bent over slightly. “Hop on”, I animated, gesturing for her to get on my back. After a few seconds of nothing, I felt her place her slender hands on my shoulder and leap onto me. I grabbed onto her warm thighs to keep her in place, relishing the feeling of her body on mine. “Giddy up”, she whispered into my ear before giving it an intimate swipe of her tongue.
An excited chill ran down my spine before I ran as fast as I could. “WHOOO~”, she screamed, tightening her grip with excitement. Towards the station we sprinted, ignoring the stares coming from fellow park-goers.
Life is good.
