Sawajiri said that Takashiro proposed to her on August 1 in the mountains of the Altai Republic (part of Russia), where they visited to view the total solar eclipse. She also showed off the engagement ring that Takashiro recently gave her, which was designed by Takashiro himself.

It is rumored that Sawajiri and Takashiro will register their marriage on New Year's Day, but the actress said they have not yet decided on a date. She further revealed that she plans to study as a graphic designer in Spain, and will resume acting work in Japan this summer.
