Illuminati [Update: Chapter 6 - No Time Left]
« on: March 22, 2009, 05:43:09 AM »
New fic everyone~
zomg! I can't believe I actually managed to write this in less than a month. *pats self* :monk gboy:  And no it's not from a Dan Brown book. The word means New World Order, I thought it might fit so... yea. Well, lets just see how long I manage to keep this fic going. :P

Ok so... tadaa~ chapter 1!!

------------------------------------

[Chapter 1 : The Unfortunate]

The sound of bare feet dragging against the rough pavement echoed throughout the dark and narrow alleyway.

"You can't hide from me forever little girl."

A deep, coarse voice of a male whispered in an eerie tone as the figure walked slowly. His inhumanly red and bloodshot eyes darted around searching for his prey. Limping lightly forward he rested against a pile of crates for support. The growing frustration and embarrassment of his injuries caused by a smaller girl.. a human girl, made the monster even more furious. He grabbed the top crate hurled it in the opposite direction and watched as the wood crash against the thin walls breaking into flakes.

"Come on darling, I promise I won't bite."

He hissed in amusement as his right hand snaked its way behind him. Electric sparks cracked around his finger tips before a bright blue orb of electrical energy emerged from his palm growing larger until it surrounded him. He closed his eyes with contentment as he felt the surge of electric sensation fill his whole body.

Shivering with fear, a tiny little girl peered out slightly from her hiding spot. She stared wide eyed at the bright form from a distance, terrified. If she ran for it the creature would see her. If she stayed where she was the creature would still see her, if it walked down the alley a little bit more. Trapped in the corner, the tear stricken young girl could only stay in her current position and hope not to get caught, which was highly unlikely.

The sky darkened drastically, forming static clouds above them. The little girl fixed her eyes above in horror, was this ... man? ... able to create lightning? She twitched fearfully at the sound of thunder as she awaited her doom.

"Trouble.."

She heard a faint call of another voice, very much sounding like that of a child, just like herself. Peering over the edge of the thin wall again to take a peek at her predator, she saw that he was already approaching her very location.

"Boom!"

Lightning struck right before the child's very eyes. She stared in shock as a thick fire broke out, drawing a perfectly straight line between herself and the monster.

"Run~... Run~"

The same voice said cheerfully, somewhat commanding the young child to her safety. She did as she was told; the little girl mustered up all her energy, making a dash as far away from the monster as she could.

The girl turned to hide behind a small shop house as she peered over to take one final look at her assailant. She stood there stupefied after witnessing the scene from afar.

The fire had eaten the man into dust.

*****

"Niigaki!!!"

The voice of a matured lady roared across the hallway, causing various people living within the compound to jump in shock.

"Gakinee.. Gakinee!"

A younger girl hissed nervously at her servant, whom she'd become very attached to, worried for the slightly more elder female.

"What is it, Aika-dono?" Replied a, certain slightly chubby looking, youngster who was apparently in a dazed state, staring out the tiny window of the narrow kitchen.

"Gakinee-san, Baachan is calling for you. Hurry to her or you might have to spend time in the coop again. And I told you not to call me that! Or I'll send you to the coops instead."

The child stuck a tongue out playfully at her supposedly servant, throwing empty threats towards the older girl. Smiling gently, the young lady, known as Gakinee-san or Niigaki Risa, walked over to the stove retrieving a hot pot of tea as she carefully poured its contents into a mug and placed the hot drink onto a small tray. She then made her way towards the petite junior master of hers as she brushed the fringe of the very observant young girl she'd come to adore, fixing the younger child's hair accessory back into place.

"You've been playing with the boys again haven't you? If your baba-chan found out, you'll be in trouble you know." Risa said as she lightly tapped Aika's cheeks with her finger tips.

"Are you threatening me now?" Aika rebutted defiantly.

"Of course not. I would never dare to. I’m just trying to remind you that you should act more lady like as you are a young girl now."

"Aika is not a lady! Aika is only 10! And Aika will play more with Kenji-kun! Until this retched cloth becomes soiled with dirt!" The youngster hollered as she pulled on the cloth on the yukata which clothed her.

"Eh! Dame! You mustn't do all that Aika-dono! And your.. your yukata will stretch!" Risa waved her hand frantically pointing the younger's hands, wanting Aika to stop pulling against the delicate material.

Grinning, the younger girl let go of her clothing instantly and, with both hands, cupped the face of her most favorite servant. "Hai Gakinee-chan, I won't. I just wanted to see your over reaction as usual that’s all." With that, Aika dashed away towards her play room.

Risa smiled for the second time that day, shaking her head lightly. She went back to her main task as she retrieved two Japanese orange from a basket placing it on the tray as well. She carefully made her way down the hallway to her grand mistress's room politely requesting to enter.

"Come in." The voice of her mistress replied.

Bowing before stepping into the room, Risa made sure no eye contact was made with the lady of the house. "Your tea Mitsui-sama, be careful for it is hot." Risa said before she began to peel the skin of the oranges.

"A fire broke out last night." The old lady said abruptly not bothering about her tea.

"It broke out from one of our shop house this time. You have anything to do with it?" She questioned in a clam tone, her eyes narrowed drastically, eying the young girl before her.

Risa fixed her gaze onto the ground, not once daring to look at the elderly, she shook her head in refute. "I didn't..."

"Lies!" The elderly bellowed as she swung her arm towards the young servant, causing Risa to yelp in pain falling onto the tatami floor. "You've been plotting against my son's business haven't you!"

"No..."

"Come with me." She yelled as she reached out towards Risa, grabbing on to the younger girl's ear and tugged on it. The older woman marched along the hallway not once bothering about the shrieks of pain Risa let out every now and then.

"I should have done this a long time ago.."

Muttering to no one in particular, the lady of the house lead, or more like tugged, Risa to a room. One with no furnishings, just a small narrow space big enough to.. well keep someone locked up.

"Please... Don't.." Risa pleaded ignoring the pain she felt on her ear, she feared more to be locked up than to have her ear pulled off.

"You deserve it!" She screamed as her wrinkled fingers made a final tug with more force and swung Risa into the cold empty room kicking the younger girl further into the space then slammed the door shut. Leaving the girl screaming in fear as she knocked again the door begging for mercy, perhaps she was claustrophobic, but that did not bother the grand mistress, not one bit.

*****

Risa's body quivered as she stood in the corner, tired from all the screaming and slamming her fits on the hard wooden material. Her jaw muscle shivered, she could her her teeth chatter. The room was not only dark, it was freezing. She curled up and held herself tightly, her eyes darting around the tiny room. She looked up at the dark sky through the tiny window in despair, a woman marked down to be hunted by something beyond any human's power. A woman marked out from the public eye as the troublemaker.

'Why me?'

Haha you finally did it! Congrats! XD Now you better keep on writing and at least update once a month, slowpoke. :P

Interesting that Risa always seems to be in such unfortunate situations. XD At least someone seems to be helping her? Well, sort of, since whatever fire that finished the demon or whatever that electric-generating person was also burned down the shop. Lol. Well at least her life was saved. XD I do wonder who that mysterious savior is though. :D

I find it amusing that Risa is serving Aika. A feudal era story? Interesting~ Now let's see how this plays out. :P

Write moar~

Story almost sounds like it's set in the Edo era...that...or we're just dealing with a rich, not to mention really, REALLY formal/old-school family here.

[Chapter 2 : Without You]

A group of servants panted breathlessly, lungs gasping for air, while a few more continued chasing after the hyper active young mistress of the very large household. The angry looking child tottered forward at top speed searching every corner of the house screaming her lungs out.

“Aika-sama! Please stop running, Aika-sama.”

“No!” The youngster screamed yet again. “Where is my Gakinee-chan?! I want her here right now!” She yelled back slamming hard against the hard wooden door walking into yet another unoccupied room.

Aika observed her surroundings carefully, searching under the couch, behind narrow corners and even inside the cupboards, but to no avail. Her Gakinee was not in the room. She made a dash for the exit which was currently blocked by a dozen exhausted looking servants. The tiny little girl went on all fours and crawled away to freedom before dashing off to the next room again. She grinned triumphantly at her accomplishments at the same time as she glanced back to see if anymore servants were chasing after her. Oddly, her servants were all on their knees, perhaps they've finally admit defeat to the young child.

bang!

“Oww... Watch where you’re going!” Aika grumbled rubbing on her hip as she fell onto the floor after colliding with someone. She froze in her place as she realised who she had bumped into.

“Aika! How very not lady-like of you to be running around the house so early in the morning! And how dare you talk to me like that. My child, why are you are not dressed yet!” The voice of an old naggy lady bellowed towards the child. “Who is in-charge of dressing Aika? You’re fired!”

Aika turned and caught a glimpse of the servant who chased her around the most, She felt a rush of anger build up within her as Aika watched the servant her weep softly.

“It's not her fault! Only Gakinee dresses me! I will not let anyone else but Gakinee! And you have no right to fire people! Only papa does!” Aika shouted loudly, her voice echoing along the hallway. She gave her grandmother the dirtiest look she could muster and prepared for the worst.

“Oh my, how dare you talk to your grandmother like that? You're father will hear of this I assure you. And I presume this Gakinee you mention is that Niigaki am I correct?" Aika nodded in response.

“Well, she has left Tokyo. She doesn't want to take care of you anymore.” The grand mistress said with a smirk.

“You're lying!”

“Of course not. A lady never lies! Now go get dressed or I will be forced to bring the canes against you young lady.” With that the older lady pushed Aika to one of the servants as she walked away.

*****

The warm and humid mid July air engulfed her as the beads of sweat trickled down her cheeks. Her conscious mind spring into life when she noticed that she had went into a state of unconsciousness. Her eyes fluttered open and she took in a sharp intake of breath.

‘I fell asleep.’

She thought to herself fearfully observing her surroundings again like she was expecting unwanted company at any moment. It has become a routine for the young teenager now; to wake up abruptly, checking on her whereabouts.  Risa finally calmed down when she realized she was still locked up in the empty prison room. A strange sense of tranquility filled the young girl who was trapped in the tiny enclosed room. Although, there was the possibility of her starving to death in the room, eventually, since no water or food had been shoved to her for the past 24 hours now. A natural death was far more appealing to the girl than a death caused by the super natural...

Risa leaned back against the cool surface of the wall and closed her eyes once again, feeling the warmth of the morning sun slowly baking her already tanned skin. An image of Aika flashed through her mind that instant.

“Aika!” She yelped out loud to herself and bolted right up for the door rattling at the door knob vigorously.

“She has to get dressed for school!”

It was no use, no matter how much Risa yanked and pulled at the door, it still wouldn't budge. She rested herself on the dirt filled ground once more, defeated. Some other servant would have already dressed Aika, but it still made Risa feel very uneasy.

Risa sat there thinking about Aika, worried for the younger one. What if Aika got angry again, and Risa wasn’t there to make her feel better? What if... something bad happened to the child and Risa wasn’t there to protect her? The more she thought about it, the more Risa panicked internally, causing the young over reactive teenager to rush over to slam against the door once again. But before she could even reach the door, she felt a sudden sharp spasm of pain and collapsed onto the ground unable to move...

*****

Tugging hard on the long and thick rope, it's end tied onto a huge bell hovering at the very top of the tower, the silhouette of a young girl was seen from the room across as she then pulled hard on the rope, releasing it and tugging once again.

Gong... Gong..

She repeated the process for another minute or so before resting her petite figure against the cool wall, wiping off the beads of sweat forming on her face with a napkin. After which she dashed off towards the main building of the school.

Aika watched the girl no older than she was, through the window of her classroom, struggling with such an energy consuming task. Why did this girl even volunteer to such a tedious task? She wondered unconsciously to herself. She turned her gaze casually over to the fairly small room as various girls of her age, dressed in various different colored kimonos, glided in a poised manner towards the various tables that was spread evenly within the room.

.
.
.

“Bow when you are receiving your chawan” The teacher instructed as the refined lady stood in front of the class with a bowl of tea in her hands.

“Take the chawan with your right hand and place it in the palm of your left hand.”

The class of girls sat in an upright position, kneeled down, on a flat cushion with a small table before them. Every girl listened attentatively and did as instucted, retrieving their chawan with their right hand placing it in the palm of their left hand then waited for the teacher to proceed with the next set of instructions...

Every girl except one...

'School is such a waste of time'

Aika scrutinized the class, more like the school, which she irked so much. She knew everything that was, and will be taught since she lived in a house full of people making her do useless events like participating in tea ceremonies, and sewing. Only, she didn't understand why she had to learn them in school too. She'd rather learn more about math or even history. She knew more about those topics then how to hold a cup of tea. One might even call the child a mini walking encyclopaedia despite of her mischievous looks and playful habits. She recalled how she used to always make Gakinee read to her countless books on anything and everything. Children's storybooks just didn't entertain her enough. Sometimes she even had to explain to her Gakinee in detail whenever the older girl seemed lost in the contents of the books. Which Aika enjoyed doing; she would carefully observe every single facial expression of her loyal servant while explaining. And of course after which, she'd look forward to the songs of praises directed at her from the older girl...

"Mitsui-sama that is not the way a lady should sit," commanded the teacher. She noticed the young one slouching away from her kneeled position, gazing in a dazed manner at the corner of the class room.

Aika rolled her eyes irritably and shifted in her position to please her teacher. And she recalled how Risa used to say similar things to her...

'I miss Gakinee'

A look of determination filled the young girl eyes. She missed her servant almost like a sister she never had. And now, she was going to look for her Gakinee.

No matter what it takes.

Awww Aika's so cute here, she's such an adorable little brat, but so sweet too. XD And smart! That's good. Lol. I hope Aika doesn't get into too much trouble trying to get Risa outta there. She does seem like the type to go to extremes when nothing else works...heh. XD

Update again soon~ And don't make us wait another (almost) 2 months! XD

[Chapter 2 : Without You]

So Aika's family is rich, and Risa is/was in their employ, presumably in charge of taking care of Aika...and then something happened that lead up to the events of the first chapter. :O

Along with being rich, looks like Aika's family is (or at least certain members within it are) majorly snobby.  They've even got Aika attending some froo-froo "refined girls" school, by the looks of it.

[Chapter 3 : Wild Goose Chase]

"And that was the last time you saw her?"

The petit girl with an exasperatingly over sized outfit questioned a worried looking lady, then frantically scribbled down something on her small notepad.

"Yes, she was doing the groceries like she always does for you and your family. But that was yesterday.. She didn't come today though.." She trailed off wondering where her friend might have been. Though she only sees Risa every morning whenever she comes to get vegetables from her, the store keeper really enjoyed Risa's presence and began to find it weird that the younger girl didn't come this morning, plus the fact that the owner of Mitsui departmental market's daughter came to question her.

"You two are close friends aren't you? I often notice you and Ga.. I mean Niigaki, talking a lot." Aika went on.

"Yes, we are. At least, I assume we are..." Entertaining the young child, the store keeper trailed off answering calmly but pondering over the question. "Then why didn't she say anything about leaving to you damn it!" She wailed out loud, flinging her arms around though barely able to see her hands since it was covered under the long sleeves of her large brown coat.

"Don't worry Aika-san, I'm sure Risachan would come back. She's not the type who would abandon her loved ones." The shop keeper smiled reassuringly at the child as she fixed Aika's large hat back into place.

"Thanks Konkon-san" Aika smiled weakly.

***

"You WHAT?!"

She watched in shock as her only son, her very reserved and quiet son, stood up shouting at her. The grand mistress of the house has never seen her son so flared up so much before.

"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?"

"That is no way to speak to your mother! I was only doing this for your own good!" She voiced back, rage filled her as she couldn't believe her son would choose to raise his voice at his own mother over a lousy house servant.

"But you know where she is right? I want to to bring her back right this instant." Calming down, the tall refined looking male demanded as he paced about back and forth in front of his mother with his arms crossed.

"I will not! She has brought enough trouble into this place, don't you see? She has cast a spell on you AND you're daughter!" The old lady raised her voice, refusing to give in to her son's request to bring back the servant in topic.

"You don't understand mother!" He raised his voice once more, panicked, "Our everything depends on her!"

***

The musty, metallic smell of dry soil filled her nose as she awoke,  feeling the hard and prickly ground beneath her, Risa widen her eyes at the sight before her.

The floor was orange.

No longer was she in the retched room, but in a cave like surrounding. Enclosed by eroded soil-like walls which stretched out to what seemed like no end.

Gathering a hand full of dark orange sand from the ground, she stared at the fine powdery substance as it smoothly flowed back down to the ground. "How?" Risa mumbled to herself in bewilderment.

She got up on her feet, exploring the area around her, the rough surface of the walls scraped her fingertips as she felt her way around the fairly dark cave. The floor was uneven, causing Risa to trip on various small rocks every now and then. A soft cry escaped her as she fell forward with her foot stuck in a small hole.

"Oh there she is." A voice from behind cooed, moving closer to the now terrified girl, "where you going little girl?"

***

Gakinee HAS to be somewhere around the compound.

Aika thought long and hard as she surveyed the room of the missing person for the nth number of time. Magnifying glass in one hand and one end of a leash in the other. She kneeled onto one leg and began rummaging through the leather black bag which she borrowed from her father. Pulling out an old ragged piece of cloth, she shoved the item towards the animal who was watching her every move curiously, it's neck chained to the other end of the leash.

"Here boy, smell this, that's Gakinee. Now go find her!" She commanded the Labrador retriever which was almost the same size, if not bigger, than she was.

"Whoa!" Aika yelped out, as the loyal family dog jolted for the door and began dragging her to the hallway of the large mansion.

Aika fumbled with her steps on several occasions as she tried her best to keep up with the dog. She watched and followed her dog, intrigued that her plan might actually work, as it sniffed the ground and scampered forward with every sniff. It stopped at the main entrance demanding for the door to be opened. "Leo! Where are you going! We're not supposed to go out of the house!" She yelled. The dog barked back angrily, almost as though reminding Aika that it was her idea to use it to find her favourite being.

"Ok fine... But if I get in trouble, it's going to be you're fault!" Caving in, Aika tipped-toed to open the door to let them both out. She looked down and noticed her dog glaring at her, "Well, if I'm going to get punished, you’re going down with me you know?" Giving a loud snort of disapproval, Leo continued to capture the scent of the cloth and began trotting out of the mansion.

Dodging every object which her dog avoided swiftly (more like tripping over most of them), Aika began to feel like her dog was just playing her. "Leo! There's no way Gakinee has gone this far!" She yelled once more. The dog stopped dead in it's tracks in front of an old looking cabin, turning to bark rhetorically at its owner.

"Here boy? Are you sure?" She asked as she caught her breath. Huffing a low reply, the greyish black dog glanced back at the 10 year old who was currently drenched in sweat. "Right." Aika nodded then pushed with all her might at the wooden log which served as a lock for the door.

With the help of her trusty companion, Aika managed to lift the log up, throwing it aside. She stared at the now accessible cabin, with a hint of excitement, and kicked the door open. A tall looking figure (in Aika's point of view) stood in the middle of the room looking back at the child in shock. She was fair, with dark long hair which streamed down to her shoulders. Her big round eyes which sparkled within the dark room, now stared right at Aika. She might have been beautiful. But she was not Gakinee.

"Who the hell are you?"

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...so there's something "special" about Risa after all, and grannie doesn't know about it! :o

And fuck yeah Aika's dad should be pissed off at her. This is, after all, HIS household, and as such, even with the whole "I raised you....blah blah blah", it's HIS word that should be the final one, not his mom's.

Next questions now are, how and why is Risa so important, and what's with all this supernatural stuff that seems to be following her around?

Quote
"Here boy, smell this, that's Gakinee. Now go find her!" She commanded the Labrador retriever which was almost the same size, if not bigger, than she was.

"Whoa!" Aika yelped out, as the loyal family dog jolted for the door and began dragging her to the hallway of the large mansion.

Aika fumbled with her steps on several occasions as she tried her best to keep up with the dog.
Couldn't help but chuckle as I pictured this scene happening, especially given Aika's known love of dogs and her shortness.

Hmmmm...wonder why the dog went here? :?

Poor Gaki  XD Well at least she's important (and maybe magical?).

And awww at Aika using her dog to find her Gakinee. As for the mystery woman, fair skin and dark hair makes me think... Sayu?

Interesting story so far, and intriguing as well. Poor Risa. She's already gone through enough... If I was in her position, I would've clawed that bitchy grandma, nevermind the fact that I have soft spot for old women! D< I wonder what her importance is to the Mitsui family, though. Does she have magical powers or something? And why wasn't the granny informed beforehand?

On a lighter note, you write a really cute Aika. Imagining lil' Aika in an oversized outfit conjures up an adorable image.
