5988 girls applied... somehow that strikes me as low. I guess they know chances of making it into the group are slim, since SKE48 is complete now.

Only Yuimin's spot is open and that can either go to one of the nine current KKS or one of these new girls...
It would be painful for the current KKS if one of the new girls gets it.

Hello. I have a question for the SKE fans - especially Jurina/Rena fans.

Are Jurina and Rena REALLY close to each other or are they more of a business pair only? Do they actually hang out with each other outside of work and stuff? Or are they actually closer with other members?

Well, stuff like that is always tricky to answer.

I see it like this:
- They get along well and they have to since they spend a lot of time together being SKE48's two top and SKE48's representatives in AKB48 occasionally. I wouldn't say they are just business pair...
- However, I don't think they are BFF either. Based on blogs, Making of DVDs, etc, I think their actual 'friends' are other girls. Rena hangs with Airi and the older crowd whereas Jurina hangs out with Yuria and the other 'kids.' It's natural. So yeah, I think they are actually closer with other members.
- I think Rena occasionally, just occasionally, would like a break from Jurina. Like in the Kyoto trip offshoot where Jurina had trouble walking in the Geisha outfit and Rena just left her behind.

No hard feelings between them, but I think J can be a bit too intense or clingy for Rena at times.

^That's really quite interesting to read. I didn't expect to see the real popular girls like W Matsui and Churi so low on that list. I'd figured they'd be so in demand that they'd be putting in the most performances. Then again, maybe they do that so the girls who aren't well known can get seen more by the fans to gain more attention?
