Shadow Complex

Shadow Complex is the third exclusive game from Epic for the Xbox 360, a dramatic stylistic shift from two Gears of Wars. This one's a just-about-modern-day side-scrolling adventure for Xbox Live Arcade primarily designed by Epic's newly-acquired Chair Entertainment, whose design lead, Donald Mustard has distinguished himself as a big ideas man.

Shadow Complex | Gameplay

I just read this today, but I can't wait to play it. I love the Castlevania and Metroid games (Though I've only played a few Metroids) so hearing about the similarities has me excited. I haven't looked up much on it yet, I just wanted to share this.

Oh wow sweet! First time I've seen this actually, I guess I tend to switch off when I hear a game is for the Arcade XD

The only things that will put me off purchasing this game would be a) the price and b) the filesize. Looks like a pretty hefty project, it's certainly the best looking Arcade title I have seen. I wonder if that affects the price at all. I know for sure it's going to be a bigger size to download as well. I'll be amazed if it's below 1GB.

Was surprised to learn that this is out on Wed! :o There seems to be a lot of press for it now and reviews are starting to pop out, including this glowing one from Eurogamer, who I trust 9 times out of 10 for game reviews.

The crux of the review is that the only downsides appear to be with the story and the generic setting and enemy types. But those are subjective, the actual gameplay itself, came out very positive.

Wow :o And at a reported file size just shy of 800MB? Far less than what I expected. Can't wait to play it now.

Dang it's getting good scores. I already thought it had a metal gear vibe to it, I might need to get it.

I'm still worried though because I didn't like Chair's Undertow and I've never been huge into the metroidvania games. Kind of reminds me how I felt about bioshock people said that was like an updated metoid and I was never into the system shock games, but I ended up loving it.

So I beat it today. Lots of fun. The first two thirds or so I was thinking It might be the best game of the year but it got a bit tedious with the collecting towards the end and the ending was a bit of a let down. The actual shooting works really well. I expected it to be kind of awkward but it felt really solid for the most part and it's always fun to find a new piece of equipment or an upgrade. Not to mention the complex itself is what the game is about and it's really awesome.

If you love Metroid or the Metal Gear infiltration adventure stuff this is a excellent game.

I did kind of ran into a couple of game breaking glitches. [bgcolor=#000000]When you have to escape the self destruct. I died the first time since I ran the wrong way. Then every time I loaded up it put me in the save room and I would die again almost instantly. I was getting pissed but I did found a fix on the net.

Then the other time I fell down a shaft after knocking some boards down and they got wedged right in the middle so I was stuck and couldn't get through. Even loading up again the boards were still there blocking where I needed to ge. Luckily I was only 45 min or so into it so I just started over.

lol I made this thread and just got the game yesterday. I finally got XBox Live to work after a few half-assed attempts. I don't thave the money for a subscription, so I'm just running on the free trial for now.

The game is fun so far. I was a little stuck at one point where I had really low health at a save point and a string of guys to kill. The aiming was giving me some trouble at first, but now it's not so bad.

I beat it yesterday and the end was a letdown. I was hoping that was just the beginning of the end, but no. Still the game was really fun to play. I got a little frustrated at one point early on when I had no health at a save point and a string of rooms with guys to kill. I had to kill them to get some health and keep runnign back to save the health.

Collectiong the items near the end didn't feel too tedious to me since there were somethings to figure out, not just blowing a hole through a grate.

I had a few instances where boxes blocked vents, but I was able to blow them out the way with grenades or rockets.
