Witcher 3 took over my life.

Even though it's really not *that* good.

I'm really enjoying Witcher 3 so far. I haven't even left White Orchard so the thought of exploring the full world which looks at least 10x bigger is crazy. Especially if they keep up the quality of the side quests so far which have all been fantastic and genuinely engaging. If there's any complaints so far it's that the combat can feel kind of floaty. It's the same as The Witcher 2 in that respect and I know I definitely notice the difference as I'm playing Bloodborne at the same time which has fantastic combat. That aside, it looks like it can quite easily take over my life as well.

Plus it looks gorgeous

Typically I'm not a fan of 'Let's React' youtube channels. It's stupider than Let's Plays because at least with the latter there's opportunity for nuance, you can learn something about the player, listen to their opinions about the game etc. Whereas React channels are literally reacting to whatever's hot or newly released that day just to see reactions and little else.

However, I will make exceptions for people who post reaction videos in addition to stuff they would normally do like Let's Plays. Case in point, this video from TheBowlingOtterShow which is a reaction to Mortal Kombat X's fatalities. I'm cool with that because I know they play games and reaction videos like this are rare. Anyway, felt it was an excuse to post the video here because Lissy is pretty funny XD

Got the Witcher 3 downloading - will get to it when I get back from vacation.

In other news, the cover of FIFA 16 leaked:

After today's FIFA election results then that cover rings alarmingly true. In more positive FIFA news, FIFA 16 will have womens football for the first time. 12 national teams, of which they'll only be able to exclusively play against each other, but even that doesn't stop some idiots from complaining about it. It's a bummer that football related twitter accounts that I follow have already rehashed the same sexist jokes over and over and no doubt this will continue pre and post release of the game. I was already tired of it a few hours after release too. My only criticism of the announcement is that the current World Cup winners, Japan, aren't one of the teams selected. It's like having a football game without Germany in it. Well, FIFA 16 needs more than just women's football to attract me back anyway. The gameplay of 15 was disappointing and PES 2015 was not only miles better but one of the best sports games in a long time, possibly ever.

Bloodstained now reached a goal to bring back the voice actor of Alucard from Symphony of the Night into the game! Really hitting hard on SOTN nostalgia to drive excitement for the game more. It's working. Gives me an excuse to post this too:

Finished Max Payne 3. Currently alternating between Batman: Arkham Origins and Valkyria Chronicles.

Playing Valkyria Chronicles made me realize that I don't enjoy the gameplay of TRPGs (Super Robot Wars and other mecha TRPGs are an exception) but I'll slog through it since the story is interesting.

I dislike the Dark Knight System in Arkham Origins where you do certain actions to unlock an upgrade. I prefer gaining new skills and gadgets naturally as you advance through the story like in Asylum and City.

I didn't think it was possible to create a better mini game in an RPG than Triple Triad for Final Fantasy 8 but you know what, Gwent in The Witcher 3 is on equal terms with it. I never pass down the opportunity to play a round with someone when the dialog option comes up. It's all the more compelling considering that with your first victory over someone, you get a card from them too, so it encourages you to play and beat them at least once. Just like in FF8 too, there are unique cards associated with characters in the game, so it's encouraging to find those too. And the game is tied into quests as well, where you play against the best and earn rewards for doing so. So many interesting little things that all add up to making me play it more.

The game really offers up some interesting strategies so far, earlier I had someone who really banked all in with siege weapons and without a Torrential Rain trap card, there was little I could do as he kept building up his strength. I knowingly throw a round if I feel I can't win that round or plan ahead so his cards can be discarded and I have a more realistic chance of winning the next one.

It's SO. GOOD.. Honestly it's all the more surprising considering that the dice mini game from The Witcher 2 was not good at all so I wasn't anticipating anything great. Yet here I am almost playing as much of this as I am of the actual game. I think the smart thing, if they could someone make it work in future patches, is to allow it so that you can build your deck to play against other players. Whether they do that through the game or a stand alone application like an app, would be pretty great.

Also, the music's fantastic!

It should come as zero shock to learn that the first reviews of Hatred have come in and it seems like a pretty terrible game. Even leaving the 'edginess' aside, it's repetitive, buggy and apparently has a difficulty spike late in the game that makes it extremely difficult to beat. It actually doesn't even look particularly gruesome either, certainly not gory enough to justify an AO rating. I assume it's because of the context of shooting up civilians. But it's so impossible to take seriously when the protaganist looks as he does and spouts off lines like "The smell of innocent blood. Makes it sweeter". It's so lame you can't help but roll your eyes at how edgy it's desperately trying to be like it was written by 13 year old kids. Honestly the most damaging thing for the game is to just look at gameplay of it and be like..."Is that it?"

But I'm sure any reviews won't stop certain people from buying it out of spite against some theoretical SJW bogeymen. Fuck em, let them burn their money on shitty games.

And yet Mortal Kombat X got a M rating. Instead of AO, Hatred should be labeled "Warning: uninteresting content".

so i bought assetto corsa togehter with the DLC. assetto corsa is an accurate racing simulator with very nice physics. with a decent steering wheel it is a charm to play.
i got the old G25, but it aint bad. together with headtracking and tripple head its awesome! you can also setup your car in a bazzilion ways, but i use setups from the i-net...

anyway, i made this Risa Niigaki fiat abarth 500 'mamemame' skin, wich is the second skin i've ever made. not bad though, but to be honest i lack a bit of skills with gimp.

but i think its cool: it has 167 hp if i remember right, and i really like the yokohama(!) number-plate wich is personalized.

it is such a cute and girly car, small and not too less power. good for tokyo and yokohama. if i can make it i wanna drive this over the laser-measured nordschleife, but caaareful! dont wanna make  a scratch in it...

EDIT: i forgot music is 'violate' from 'L da headtoucher' < the one who featured on morning musume's 'memory seishun no hikari'

The latest trend among game devs: screw waiting for E3, give the world the official announcements early

Admit it, who is crying again watching FALLOUT 4 trailer after barely recovering from XCOM 2's announcement? :nervous

It is weird seeing all these announcements prior to E3! Would have been nice surprises to see a new Fallout and XCOM game. I can see why they did it, why share the spotlight after all? This way people know it exists and the excitement is no fewer as they'll be wanting to see more at E3.

Speaking of early announcements, see the new Steam controller?

Some Witcher 3 gameplay from me. Really enjoyed this contract because despite being on the same level to take on the quest, I got my ass handed to me by the Shrieker on the first attempt. I decided to prepare properly by scouring the towns to collect ingredients for the oils, bombs and potions for the fight and the next time, as shown below, was more of an equal fight. I nearly screwed up at the end, I got cocky thinking I was landing the killing blow when it struck back and the bleeding effect very nearly killed me had I not stuffed Geralt's face with bread.

Pre-ordered my Steam controller. Not cheap, but Valve hasn't really disappointed yet.

Damn Fallout 4  Fuck me Metal Gear and Fallout at the same time I don't know what to do with myself. :panic: Super ready for E3 now, hopefully lots of new game reveals and footage.

Also been playing Witcher 3 which is a ton of fun! Wasn't sure since I didn't really like what I played of W2 but yea, 3 is one of the best games I have played. Awesome stories, characters and tons of stuff to do in a beautiful world. Oh yea and Gwent has consumed me...must.. collect...every...card...

Here's a sample of how most of my fights go. Put on Quen, throw down Yrden and let it do work, once the enemy is weakened rush in for glory! Seems to work really well even playing on Death March difficulty.
