So I was in Taipei a few weeks ago and I decided to drop by the Official AKB48 store in Taipei. I wanted to take some pictures inside the store since Mayuyu was the member of the week or something but it wasn't allowed. Instead, enjoy some poorly taken pictures of the stuff i bought and a picture of me outside the store.

Man, Mayu had a rough streak... First Lovetan moving to HKT48. Lovetan was holding it to gather, but when Mayu came up to her the flood gates were opened. One of the most heart-breaking moments of the evening IMO. Secondly, Yuki staying in B and her moving to A. Yet another super close friend who she'll get to spend a lot less time with.

On the bright sight, Team A is looking super strong. Mayu, Takamina, Mariko, Yui and Kasai. Woah. Powerhouses galore. It's actually going to be interesting to see who Mayu will bond with the most. I can't see her becoming BFF with Mariko or Takamina somehow. She's now the new ace in the team, and of whole AKB48 for that matter, so it's going to be really interesting to see how she will cope in this new environment and how the other girls will thread her. It was smooth sailing for her in Team B, but I think she has a challenge ahead of her to reinforce her position.

To be honest, I was very upset by Mayuyu's move to Team A initially. It just feels so wrong to take her away from Team B as she is the face of that team together with Yukirin. She's been there since the beginning and has helped to build it to what it is today. The hardest part for me to stomach is her separation from Yukirin. We all know how close they are and Yukirin is someone who Mayuyu is truly at ease with. When they are together, Mayuyu lets herself go and do all the crazy nonsense you won't catch her doing with other members. I hope in the new Team A, she will be able to find someone who she can really open up to. Who will that person be? I'm not sure but what I do know is that Mariko will take good care of her girls (just look at Jurina).

With this move to Team A, does this mean Mayuyu will be groomed to be the next face of AKB48? I hope so but we'll never know what Aki-p is thinking. Anyway, Mayuyu will be forced to grow up more quickly now that she's out of her comfort zone and away from the person she depends so much on. I trust her to make good use of this chance to prove herself and show the world that she's worthy to be AKB48's No.1. Go, Mayuyu!

The song 夢見るシャンソン人形 (Yumemiru Shanson Ningyou)
was a 1965 hit for 弘田三枝子 Mieko Hirota, but it was a cover of
French singer France Gall's Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son.
