For classic stuff.
That clip for the movie version X 1999 with "X" (X Japan) blowed my mind when I first saw it when I was a kid (I'm sure it did that to a lot of people).
X's OP "eX dream" (Myuji) always gets me excited too.
I get mesmerised every time I see those red balls merge and turn to light in his hand (I don't say these words often).

Beginning of "Seishun Collection"s chorus (Morning Musume) reminds me of Dragon Ball GT's OP "Dan Dan Kokoro Kikareteku" (Field of View).

Trivia: The 'GT' in DragonBall GT stands for 'Grand Tour'. Woah~ I just learned that today.

Albert Hughes, one half of the Hughes Brothers directing duo, did an interview with DC’s Kevin and Josh Movie Show (which was subsequently collected by Film School Rejects) and discussed the live-action AKIRA remake he's attached to. He said that the studio’s telling him upfront that they want this to be a PG-13 movie and he’s looking at that as a challenge to do a dark film that isn’t necessarily graphic (using the DARK KNIGHT as an aspirational model.) Regarding the rumors that AKIRA will be made as a two-part series, he insisted that he doesn’t like sequels and wouldn’t be interested in doing a second AKIRA movie, even if its production went forward.

My first thought when I read this is that a PG-13 AKIRA could be spun with the tagline “Less exploding heads, more walking teddy bears.”

Anyway, I don’t know… this gets back to the column I did about the appeal of live-action versions. Part of the draw of anime is getting to see content that’s often too intense for movies. However, the other edge of that is that there’s also content that’s often better off not rendered in live-action. The psychokinetic gore and mutations in AKIRA look cool when stylized through illustration, but they'd probably be genuinely stomach-churning to watch if they looked realistic. The Hughes Brothers previously directed an adaption of FROM HELL, a graphic novel about Jack the Ripper. The movie was less intense than the comic, to be sure, but the comic is also very, very grisly. I’d really never want to see its gorier portions represented with live actors.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Hughes Brothers’ last movie, THE BOOK OF ELI (which, coincidentally, was an R-rated post apocalyptic story.) I think they’ll make a good movie regardless of the limitations imposed on them, but there’s a question of how worthwhile an AKIRA adaptation will be if it gets toned down and simplified.

Think I will go watch Akira again. Haven't seen it in well over 5 years.

Well, finally caught up with animes I watch.
Caught up with Bleach, watched the last 4 eps of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and watched the first 4 eps of the new Digimon series "Digimon Xros Wars".
