Chapter 15

The phone rang. They seem to have a joyful conversation, it sounded like it was the daughter on the other line. I hope he does not leave me for her; I will be hurt if he does that. I would close myself to the world forever because it would be the worst betrayal. Then, I heard a voice telling me, “Don’t worry,” I felt confident that he would not leave me but I have to keep my mind open.

“Risa, we need to get dressed up, we both got off work to meet with her.” Yuki started to look for his best suit.

“Is she that important?” Yuki started nod violently.

I started to get dressed and my body felt weak. I wanted him to feel my body, I do not know what happened, but I have become aroused by him. The clothing made it worst, every piece that touched made me want him more. We both ran outside to see a limousine waiting for us. We ran inside and we went on our way to see the daughter. We were silent the whole way and felt his hand on my lap, my body temperature rose from the hand being so close. He would turn and smile but would turn back every time I did that. We arrived at the place and it looked like an abandoned warehouse, then the lights were turned on and we saw all the stuff in there.

“Yuki, is this her house?” He nodded and pointed to her.

She looked rather attractive and introduced herself.

“Hello, I am Konno Asami; I am the president’s daughter.” She bows to both of us.

“Asami, I have not seen you in a long time, how have you been doing?”

“Same here, Yuki, you seem to have a girlfriend, who is this lucky girl?”

“She is Niigaki Risa, she is from Kanagawa.” She shook hands with me and kissed Yuki on the cheek.

“Come with me, I like company to come and enjoy the house.” I had one concern.

“Asami, why is your house in a warehouse?” Before she could answer, Yuki came upfront with the truth.

“When the merger happened, she had to marry Takeda but she refused and was giving an ultimatum, take all the stuff you can before I clear out the room myself.”

“I got my entire wardrobe and the car.” She added.

I obviously did not see the car and looks like she has been living off that money. The place was nice for a warehouse. She seemed to not mind being in this predicament, I decided to sit next Yuki to overhear the conversation.

“Yuki and Risa, I have a plan but you are going to have to bait Takeda.” Asami started to announce the plans to us.

“Then, you are going to have a gun on you, Yuki.” We both jumped up.

“Don’t worry I will cover you guys from his backside.” We both sat down.

“Asami, wouldn’t that be dangerous for both of us?” I wanted to make sure nothing goes wrong.

“Well, I cannot guarantee safety but it will work to my favor.

I felt uncomfortable about it and Yuki went outside to think about it. I was left with Asami and she started to move closer to me. She started to rub my hand with her and it felt quite soft.

“Risa, I want you to know, I will not steal Yuki from you.” Then she gave me a kiss.

She ran outside to find Yuki and told him something. He started to walk around the building then the lights went out and the sunlight was peering through the window.

“Let’s get this thing started.” Konno pushed me on the bed.

As I lay there, I hoped Yuki does not get jealous.

Chapter 16

“Yuki has told me about your feelings towards him; you have to be relaxed when you are with him. I can tell you this; he will love you as long as you are behind him.” Asami was at the foot of the bed, ready to pounce on me.

“Asami, I have to be honest, I am scared of intercourse, and I think he knows that but he is trying to let me be prepared for the pain and pleasure that comes with it.” I wanted to get up but I felt numb when she gave me a kiss on the lips.

“Risa, are you okay?” Asami picked me up from the ground with her hands.

“Yeah, I never felt that rush before.”

“You are going to have to handle that with him. He is a great guy and I know sex does not mean everything but you are going to have to give up that dream.” Asami was consoling me and her arm around me felt like she was a sister I never had.

Yuki entered back into the warehouse, “did you have fun, Risa?”

“Yeah, Asami was a great teacher. Thank you.”

“No, thank Yuki; he was the one who released me from my innocence.” I looked at him.

“Well, I gave her head, because she did not want my staff in her.” She started to laugh and punched him in the stomach.

“Yuki knew I had karate practice and pregnancy was forbidden, so I had no other choice for him.”

I put back my clothes back on, gave Asami a kiss on the lips, and thank her for helping me around with Yuki.

“It will go down couple days from now, keep your calendars open and a call will come from me when the trap is set for his head.” I gave her a firm handshake and we both left.

“Risa, you are going to have to control your yelling, I could hear it from the outside, you know.”

“Well, the only way is through practice, right?” I left him with his mouth open and entered the limousine.

Chapter 17

We went back home and started to practice on each other our moves but through all that foreplay, we forgot to get a gun and then a package came in. It was a pistol from an unknown source and there was about fifty rounds of ammunition inside

“Yuki, you sure want to go through with this plan.” I saw him load the gun and started to practice with it.

“I have my reasons too.” He turned away and put the gun on the table.

He told me to sit down and listen to the story about his friend, who was gunned down at night; she was shot by Takeda, execution style. His friend, Reina Tanaka, was the victim after Konno rejected him for her hand in marriage. He followed her from her apartment to the convenient store; he grabbed her from behind and raped her violently. She wanted to run home but in his drunken rage, he got back at both of us by shooting her in the back of the head. He ran to another part of the country, and he was not seen again until he got caught by Yokohama police. Her body was found naked and one bullet went into her head, she never had a chance to say our final words from the pain and torture it caused us until he was caught. At her funeral, Konno and I confided that one day we would get back at him for killing her and breaking us apart. Konno’s father appeared by saving Takeda from prison time in exchange for a billion yen.

That made me sick to my stomach but I did not want to be part of this crime.

“Yuki, how are you going to protect me?”

“That’s simple you have to just talk to Takeda and make pleasant conversation.” He started to practice with his gun again.

“What about you?” I was being nervous about doing this and to witness a killing will be hard to swallow.

“I have to be there to watch him get shot, I will pull out my gun to his head, and hopefully he will come with something nice to say before Konno come right behind him and shoot him.” Yuki felt confident it would work and for revenge of his friend.

I felt more nervous for Yuki because if it goes wrong and if he pulls the trigger he will go to jail instead of Konno. Konno was being a martyr for this mission and she was going to take the blame for the shooting, but what is her plan in this whole thing? The days before the plan would be launched I began to think more about Konno and Yuki. They were friends willing to take down a person who killed their friend and be willing to tell about it. The workplace became hell after every passing minute only knowing that once he is gone, they will have drastically to find a new vice president. Then, the stability will go down the tubes and maybe this promotion would be worthwhile.

“Risa, you look wonderful today.” I turned it was Takeda.

“What do you want?” I wanted to avoid him at all cost.

“Well I was wondering if you and I could have a drink together.” I just turned away.

“It’s okay I have Yuki to get me something to drink after work.” I smiled and went back to work.

He walked away and noticed the gun in his pants, my mind went wild, and Yuki was on the other side of the floor. I knew I had to tell Yuki something but then I heard a bang. Yuki came running to me.

“Risa, what happened?” Then another shot rang out and we both ducked.

The first person I saw was Takeda; he was shot in the chest and the blood slowly coming out of his warm body. The next person was Mr. Konno, the boss, he got nailed with a blunt object and the gash on his head indicated he was hit a couple of times. Then, the last person was Takahashi, the office lady, the gun was by her hand and it looked like she committed suicide.

“Risa, call the police, now.” I ran to the nearest phone and I call them.

I was in Yuki’s arms looking away from the carnage; he shielded me away and started to stroke my hair. Asami came running in and notice her father on the ground with Takeda, she started to cry noticing her father’s dead body. I saw three dead bodies on the floor of the office, the motive was unclear, but we heard rumors of Takahashi and Takeda’s relationship. It seemed unrealistic that a murder suicide would happen here. Asami called an emergency meeting with the people in the office.

“Okay, since my father has passed away, I have to take over his role until the other side has an agreement set with everyone.” She tried calming the crowd down from the emotional outpouring.

That day Asami took over temporarily until Fujimoto’s daughter came in and started the next chaotic part of the ordeal.

Chapter 18

“Everybody, this is my company to be operated by me.” She had a powerful voice from the other side of the office.

“Is that Fujimoto?” I asked Yuki.

“Fujimoto Miki had the worst reputation among all the workers; she was power hungry woman when her father gave her company to Konno. Ever since then, she has tried to find every way to take away the power from Konno. Especially, her husband is a politician that can basically rule in her favor with all the businesses behind him.” I looked at her and her slender body made me think how much her husband loved her.

She walked up to Konno and pushed her to the side, Yuki wanted to jump in to save Konno but the workers held him back from punching her. She came off as snotty; her popularity among the workers seemed to be low. Konno and Yuki start conferencing and you can see the anger in both of their eyes, I felt that I was in quicksand; it was consuming me fast from the quiet moment. Konno went to the other side of the table and proposed an idea.

“Fujimoto, we need to split the company’s deal, you take your company and leave us alone.” Konno looked right into Fujimoto’s eyes.

“Well, I want the whole company and I be willing to give you two billion yen for it. It is a take it or leave it deal.” Her bodyguard offered the suitcases full of money.

“No deal, Fujimoto you company can survive without ours and you just take your part and leave.” Konno was getting frustrated now.

“Well, I guess I have to do it by force, tomorrow you guys will see your doom, and if you do not jump ships, you all will be unemployed.” Her evil laugh made my blood boil and I turned to Yuki with his fists ready to punch but he let go.

“Yuki and Risa, I need your help.” We started a meeting that would determine the best path to take from here.

The whole day we spent throwing ideas at each other, we broke down every path possible, and what could be the consequences of each. Konno felt the weight on her shoulders after the death of her father and it seemed she was composed to run the company but did not like to be force to love a person. Yuki wanted to be with Konno again but with me hanging around, he seemed to have his hands tied. I felt alone with a couple, I was the third wheel in all the talks, and I broke my silence.

“Konno, do you still have feelings for Yuki?” She turned and put her head down.

“Right now, I feel sporadic and I need a person to be with me right now and Yuki knows how I feel about my father. He has been through all the drama of being with me; I always felt that he would be my true mate. But, he is with you and I do not want to break you heart because I have feelings for him.”

Yuki knew how much Konno still had feelings for him but he gave her a hug and she started to cry in his arms.

“Risa, I know you are the odd man out and with us knowing each other must be hard for you, but I think of her as a close friend. We had gone through all the things many people would never want to face in a lifetime and being with you, Risa, made me realize I cannot go through that again. Asami, I will always be your knight in shining armor but you need to move on and find another person, I give you my permission to find that perfect someone. Whoever it may be, I hope him or her best and the safety of your life with them.” Asami hugged him harder and she invited me to go join in on the hug. Asami and I became mutual friends and Yuki would protect both of us from any danger coming our way. Then, the decision was to let her take over the company and we leave to find another job.

Chapter 19

We came back the next morning waiting for Fujimoto to enter into the office, all the workers knew the story that Konno was going to let Fujimoto take over the company. All the workers got her flowers for her courage and her humility towards the workers. It felt like a farewell party before the news actually broke and they seemed sadden that it had to come this way. After fifteen minutes, she walked through the door with her bodyguards and the suitcases.

“Konno, you have a decision for me?” She slid a bunch of resignation papers.

“That was a good choice by you and your colleagues.” She looked over it and seemed to be proud of the event.

“Fujimoto, what is the cost?” Konno feeling the disappointment of letting go her father’s company.

“It is one billion yen after all the costs go through and it will come to you in monthly payments for the next ten years.”

“Okay, I will take the deal.” We all bowed and shook her hand.

“Yuki, I have to ask you something.”

Yuki turned around and heard her proposal, he seemed to want to take it, but he looked at me and walked away from her. One of her bodyguards picked him up and slammed him into the wall; he let out a gasp and fell onto the ground. His body was lifeless and Konno and I took him to the hospital, he seemed to be okay but his injuries would take a while to heal. His spine had been cracked and his walking became noticeably limp. He could do many things with his top part of the body and but his legs would feel tingly at times and many feared he could not walk again. Both Konno and I tried to warm his legs, but it seemed to cool off as soon as the touch went away.

“Risa, I have a request for you.” Yuki was feeling the effects of the medicine.

“What is it, Yuki?” He told me to sit by him and Asami was outside by the door.

“I liked having you around as a roommate and sometimes I felt that you did not love me but that was because you did not want that type of relationship with me.” I started to feel bad for every occasion that he would be romantic to me.

“The thing is that you need to find a job soon and you should not let me hold you back. So, please find a job that you might be suited to you.” He gave me a pat on the back and his words encouraged me to find that job.

I went out of his room and started to look for that job that might suit me for the future, but then an alarm went off in his room. The doctors rushed his room and started to stabilize him, his body was now lifeless, and I looked around and saw something on his sheet.

Broken Spine and clotting problems in the legs.

I was in shock, his legs were clotting, and with the lack of walking, he started to get complications from the injury. He pronounced dead at 12 p.m. that day, I felt sad that he left but Konno did not want to let go of him and I pried her off him and try to console her.

“Konno, don’t cry, he has gone to a better place.” I hugged her but she started to move away from me.

“Risa, you made him that way and now he paid for your mistake.” I started to see that my involvement made it much difficult for both of them to win out the deal.

I saw her ran out the door and out of the hospital, I sat there and felt that Yuki loved me and cared so much for my own safety that he did not care if he got hurt or not. His death were on my shoulders and I could not shake it but with both of them gone, I had to find a person to stay with me. I had looked through all calls and saw Eri. She helped me when I got attacked and maybe she will the one to help me pull through these hard times. I gave her a call then an invitation to live with me for the present and until I feel comfortable with living with none of the guilt.

Wow, I wasn't expecting him to die. I actually think I'm gonna miss him, he was starting to grow on me. But now, Risa will go to Eri!

Chapter 20

I got all the stuff from Yuki’s apartment and moved it into Eri’s apartment, she was quite a messy person, but it seemed I could live with her for now. Eri has now grown out her hair and colored it since the last time I was with her. She was still the same personality wise; she was motherly and would always cook me something even if I was not hungry. Yet, I was still hurt from Yuki’s sudden passing and it felt that it would never heal. I never could tell him that I love him before he left and that hurt even more when his eyes closed for the last time. Since that time, I would always sit by the window and feel the sun touch my skin and think it was Yuki touching me from heaven.

“Risa, you have not touched your sandwich yet, are you still missing him?” I nodded and she would come from behind and hug me.

“I still have mixed emotions about his passing and cannot seem to forget him for now.” I was in a deep depression and not too many things would cheer me up.

I started to write down my feelings about everyday that past after his death. The first day it would be about how nice he was to me, when I rejected him. The second day, I talked about his favorite things he liked to do on his spare time; he was a good cook and would research recipes he would make for me. The following day I started to cry and realized that he was protecting all this time and yet nothing to give back to him, even if he was gone. By the end of the week, the funeral precession came and felt uncomfortable taking to his parents, then an older man figure came walking by.

“Are you Niigaki Risa?” I turned and told him I was she.

“Yuki has told us a lot about you, do not worry about him, he was a good kid and never troubled any one in his life.” The woman came right by him and introduced herself as his mother.

“Risa, I do have one favor.” I had my ears set to listen.

“If it is possible, can you tell us who did that to our son?”

“It was bodyguards to the new CEO of the company.” I was still nervous but I loosen up after the conversation got started.

“I see, well I need to talk to her.” He went away for a while and she wanted to talk to me too.

“My son was a very good person and he would protect anything that is dear to him.” I felt proud that he would go all the way despite living together.

I walked outside after that and sat on the bench. Kamei came after me and sat by me.

“I misunderstood him and I am truly sorry.” Kamei held my hand and she comfort me.

The combination of feelings in me was not the issue but his parents did not seem mad or sad at his death. They were happy that he lived his life how he wanted to live it and his friends from Hawaii came, and thank me for being with him. It became confusion that people would thank me for being with him rather than say it was my loss. I turned to Kamei and her eyes turned red with tears, I comforted her and felt that pain he left. Konno joined us, a couple minutes later and she was in all black.

“Risa, I hope my decision for letting go the company has not angered you in any way.”

“Asami, do not worry, you had to do what you had to do and she had her way with it.” Asami saw Kamei in my arms.

“Is this your new mate?” I looked at Kamei and thought about the next thing I wanted to say.

“Right now, I live with her because I did not want to live in Yuki’s apartment.” She nodded in agreement.

The funeral was somber and people started to cry when they mentioned about his achievements in school and how much he wanted to go to Japan. His friends were saddened to hear that he passed away so soon and wished he had better luck in Japan. Finally, his father walked up and talked about his son, he told many stories of his son from when he was young and right before he left for Japan. The one thing that stood out was his courage, he would never back down from anything, and that is what caused his death, his beliefs. I felt at that moment to give him a hug for supporting me through those times and not making it big deal to support me than him. I left the funeral a different person than when I came in, I gained self-confidence that day, and I wanted nobody to stop me from doing what I wanted to do.

Chapter 21

The day after I got a job at the vegetable stand, my boss Yoshizawa and her mate Ishikawa were nice to give me a job despite my limited knowledge on vegetables. I tried to use some of my skills as salesperson and it worked well for the elderly but for the mothers. Then, I tried to sell them at a reasonable price in comparison and that started to work wonderfully. I would not be paid though because I was selling it below the buying price they were getting at but they were in the green for the first time in weeks.

“Risa, you seem to be a natural salesperson, why don’t you find a job like that?” Ishikawa hugged me in her happiness.

“Well, I want to lay low for a while and not go a job like that.” I started to prepare for the next day.

They were happy for me to be helping them with little money but the truth was the company was paying me 100,000 yen per week to keep quiet of the deal. I did not tell them that because that would cause uproar in the community and that would be bad for Asami because of her decision. A couple days later, Asami came by and started to shop for some vegetables and notice I was on the other side of the table.

“I see you are working here now.” Asami gave me a smile.

“Yeah, I am enjoying it for now, so just here for shopping?” She gave me stern look and I noticed something was wrong.

“Well yeah for now but I need to talk to you for a while when possible.” I turned to Yossie and Ishikawa and asked for a small break.

They turned to each other and told me I could have it but I had to be back before the crowd comes in and runs them out. I ran to Asami and handed me a note.

Dear Asami,

I have a proposition for you and Risa, the company has some issues in the management areas and we need two outstanding workers to take over that area. We needed some experience in the area after a mishap that cost us millions of yen. It is up to you if you want to come back but if you do, I will offer my services to Yuki’s family in return for your cooperation. Thank you and hope you consider coming back.

“How long do we have to answer?” I asked Asami and considering her expression, I was thinking soon.

“A week from now and she will not consider no as an answer.” I thought we were screwed over because of leaving the company but they are bringing us back in for this.

I gave her a nod in agreement to think about it and give her a call if I would take the offer because she would not join if I did not. I walked back and started to take on the rush of customers that wanted their vegetables for dinner. After the rush, I approached Yossie and told her about a job offer that I could not refuse. She was disappointed to leave this job so soon but she knew I had a future in the business world rather than her. Ishikawa told me instantly to go and pursue that dream of working for a big firm; she was enthusiastic about the news compared to Yossie. I went back to Eri’s place and told her about the offer from Fujimoto.

“Risa, are you sure you wan to go back to that awful place where Yuki got injured?” Eri was concerned that I might be emotionally stressed.

“Eri, do not worry, I got this under control and whatever it is, it has to be something she wants us to do to make her be better but we have the authority to call the shots.”

She turned away and started to make dinner, I never felt this way about a job, it was quite exciting to be part of management. Eri seemed to be subdued by the news but she insisted that a job in that field is better than a vegetable stand. I got my clothes ready and gave that call to Asami; she seemed to be pump that I would jump on that offer. The only concern was what was Fujimoto’s plan?
