^ you got PS3 right? how does that work with the Elite app?

haven't used any of my points and at lvl 12 right now..just getting my ass kicked in multiplayer. btw, Tuffty was right about prestiging at lvl 80. that's just a load of BS about having to go that high. I was happy about when Black Ops had you prestiging you at lvl 50.

they also went ahead and announced another COD game for next year. this will be interesting how they will top this one.

i'm playing this on xbox

:twothumbs

Most embarrassing death so far: getting killed by a care package.... two seconds after spawning. Shit was wack! XD

Survival mode's pretty cool, it's a well realised version of that type of game mode. Can see myself getting into it. Gotta get to at least Wave 10 and 15 for achievements!

most epic kill so far for me (i suck at the game, btw)
deployed a decoy airdrop. a few mins later, you hear an explosion, and it says triple kill! We collect the dog tags ftw! =)

most embarrassing death so far is probably when i threw a flashbang accidently into a vertical metal beam. it bounced off behind me flashing me and 2 other teammates, and we all die from a guy run n gunning, ultimately losing the match. i went like 4 and 22.

coolest moment so far, stealing some dude's juggernaut suit, and defending the demolition bombsite in overtime ftw!
word.

Modern Warfare 3 Tops 9.3m First Day (Biggest Industry Launch Ever)

'When will this franchise peak?' Many asked this after last year's Black Ops defied all odds and outsold a Modern Warfare Call of Duty game (the very reason the series is so big today); a brand within itself. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that Call of Duty has yet again broken industry records, but it's by how much that makes it staggering.

A reported 1.5 million people queued at midnight globally to get their hands on Modern Warfare 3, with a total of 9.3 million copies sold on the first day. The Xbox 360 version sees around a 54% share, meaning it's the first game on one platform to pass 5 million on its first day. The PlayStation 3 version held 42%, which is around the 4 million mark. Both day ones are only slightly behind Black Ops entire first week sales. The PC version and the Wii version held the remaining 4%, which is around 370,000 units.

As a whole, Modern Warfare 3 is up 33% over Black Ops' first day sales, and a whopping 55% up on the previous Modern Warfare. the US and the UK combined account for 7 million, which is just over 75%.

Early data suggests first week sales are on course for around 12 to 13.5 million. With just over 87 million Call of Duty games already sold on home consoles and PC this generation, by the end of this week the Call of Duty franchise will have sold over 100 million games this generation.

Now that the honeymoon period is over for me I can say I have a few issues with the multiplayer. The maps, specifically in FFA matches. I know the big deal is that the maps encourage run and gun gameplay and that's fine, but the spawning system does not help. I literally cannot move for love nor money without getting shot at simultaneously in different directions even in the larger maps. In Black Ops you have the larger maps and you could traverse the edges, check your corners and generally feel safe that you wouldn't get a spawn behind you. But after a few of those types of games it was always quite nice to have a couple of rounds of Nuketown craziness, a real adrenaline rush for usually about 3 minutes playing FFA. But here every map feels like Nuketown, it's non stop. If you don't keep up with the pace of other players not only will you die repeatedly, but your chances of winning will also fall dramatically. I want to say it's all down to getting used to the pace of the game and it will take time to adjust but you can't get used to people emerging from all sides around you. It's like FFA games have a player count of 16 than 8 and I can't compensate because I don't have eyes in the back of my head. Nor in the side.

Also, shotguns? Completely useless. If I can't get a kill at close range using the shotgun then what's the point?

I dunno, a lot of my rantings are probably cause I'm tired, and still butthurt that rather than competing for the Top 3 spots in FFA games in MW2 and Black Ops, I'm now mid tier at best. I still think it's fun to play though. The team based modes still are as fun as ever and Kill Confirmed is a great mode. So don't misunderstand me, the game is great, just little issues I have that prevent it from being perfect. Anyway, rant over XD

finally got an understanding of the elite thing...aside from tracking your progress and all that, there are special challenges that i guess are only open to elite members...still not sure of my founder status (or if i have to manually enter the code from my card  :mon dunno: )

at least i've unlocked and upgraded several guns - got the grenade launcher & acog scope for the scar + 2 attachment option, unlocked the cm901 or whatever and got the red dot, got the holo sight for the fpg, red dot for the mp9, and i'm also trying to complete the mastery accomplishments for each weapon  :thumbup

to master the different guns, you have to get a certain amount of headshots with it, a certain amount of kills with it, a certain amount of kills looking thru the different scopes, etc

Hell yeah! Got my first Game Winning Kill :twothumbs

I haven't tried any shotguns yet but you are prolly right since it seems like not that many people use shotguns in MW3. I've died like 400 times so far but I only remember a few shotgun deaths :P

Kill Confirmed is a great mode.
True dat. I'm a total noob but Kill Confirmed is one mode where even a noob like me can score plenty of XP :thumbup

only problem is that my thumbs hurt from having to push the controller down to run.
I know the feeling XD

Had more success with this last night, I still think the spawn system is a bit jacked but in some game modes you just need to concede that you won't get high killstreaks on it so it's best to rock either a low assault strike package or stick with support. Especially in Team Defender. I believe the spawn system works differently in that mode, as everyone, your team and the enemies, spawn near the flag so it's just a constant stream of dudes coming in trying to get it, making it impossible to get a good K/D ratio (for me at least)

Even had a decent time yesterday using one of the pump action shotguns, getting up to 2nd in a FFA match with it (seriously, I was one kill away and I had my sights set on the leader ready to pull the trigger when he got a kill first XD) If you're going shotguns I suggest using a machine pistol to compensate for range, always liked the Skorpion when you unlock it. The biggest case of an overpowered gun at the minute is the Type 93 (sp?), a 3 round burst weapon like the M16, except while that weapon requires at least 2 shots to confirm a kill, this only needs one. You'll be able to pick off dudes in one burst from a distance with frightening accuracy no sweat.
