Working out how to get around a problem with Excel. I have a document with a lot of worksheets in there and I want to transfer the content held in one cell to the same location across every other worksheet. Is there a way to go about this with a macro rather than having to CTRL+C and CTRL+V for each worksheet? Also is there another way to make an easy reference for a worksheet rather than having to rename them? So for example rather than 'Figures 07_11_08' it can be referenced as 'Week 2' or something?

Ok, I'm worried.

Since so many of the computers in my school have viruses, my USB picked one up, autorun.inf. I've formatted my USB a couple of times already and it still says it has it, I even formatted using a Mac computer, but it's still there.

My uncle says my entire computer system must be the one that's infected now, but I searched using command prompt and I don't seem to see it in there.

So is it just my USB that's screwed up? And how do I get rid of it from there? I don't know what else to do besides formatting it.

If you have no virus scanner installed, go to one of there online sites and run a instant-scan (Syamantec or Kapersky?).
Or grab one of the free versions and try that.

If this is a nasty one, you might even need to go into 'save mode' and do the scan on your C drive...

The file autorun.inf is used by Windows to automatically run a program when a drive or disc is inserted. You'll find it on many CD-ROM's and often it comes pre-installed on USB sticks and drives. It is a text file, so you can view (and edit) it with notepad. It can be safely deleted from your USB stick or drive.

However, some USB sticks have a small read-only partition usually for software that accompanies the USB stick. Deleting autorun.inf from such a partition (it mimics a CD-ROM drive) is not possible with the usual methods (delete or format). If this is the case you'll have to completely remove the read-only partition (e.g. with the Disc Manager found under Computer Management on Windows XP).

Autorun.inf itself is not a virus, but it can be used by viruses. For extra security it is possible to disable the AutoRun system of Windows.

Yeah, I tried a method and I'm pretty sure I managed to disable my auto-run already.

I found out that my autorun.inf in my USB was a virus because I always scan it (with AVG) and it told me it was infected, so I knew I had to do something. I just want to know if my system's infected or not.. I'm paranoid as hell.

One of the automatic updates 2 weeks ago disabled autorun (I'm on XP), so if you got the automatic updates then you should be safe and the virus shouldn't have spread from the USB memory stick to your pc.

There is this program that will clean up autorun.inf that i've been using. It will replace whatever autorun.inf in your thumbdrive/harddisk with a blank one, well until you caught the rogue autorun.inf again. Just double click it and your desktop will disappeared for a while and come back. Most of the time it can remove any common malware/virus.

Whenever I want to keep stuff like that, I just use Internet Explorer to view the clip/play the song, then grab the files from the "Temporary Internet Files" folder..

That .flv file at the top is a YouTube clip.. From there, I just copy or drag it to another folder and rename it..

The "show hidden files and folders" box might have to be checked in the folder options to view the temp folder.. Can't remember..

Don't get the flv, get the mp4 version as that's usually higher res and better sound.

Oh and shadowstar, that google problem is usually caused when your isp connects to the net through a "web proxy" (some isp's work this way, aol for one) and someone else using the same "web proxy" did something to trigger that message, and everyone suffers.

i just recently built a new i7 tower. im just wondering if its a good idea to leave my comp on for more than a couple of days?? or will it gradually damage my comp in a long run??

^Not that I'm aware of, although I don't have an i7, if they're anything like regular Core 2's they'll just keep going and going even if they're running hot all the time lol (heat is really the main cpu killer). Leaving it on all the time is probably even better than turning it on an off.
But I would shut it down when you're not using it cause it's good to save power.

alright cool thanks, now i got a new problem. gosh i hate it whenever i try something new. (vista 64 suks!!!!)

my bitcomet speed has been crappy after switching comps.

do you guys know how to get rid of the yellow status light?

i thought the problem could be my firewall. so i turned it off but its still the same. then i thought it might be my internet...is this normal?

^ my guess is you need to check your router and see if the port bitcomet is using is being forwarded to your local ip.
Usually this is all taken care of if your modem supports uPnP but I guess that's not working so you'll need to manually forward the port. Depending on your modem/router you can usually find instruction just by searching for port forward and the model of router you have.
