^ try turning one of the receivers somewhere from 0 to 90 degrees, or move them like half a meter to see if there is some reflection interfering.
I can also be the neighbours that have something new that is adding to the problem?

hmmm interesting. Looks like I can connect to XBox Live, provided I don't sit on my bed :? I think you're right frblckstr1, the issue with connecting to the XBox appears to be inteference of some sort, why this is only happening now, I don't know. The net still switches off when the phone rings, but at least there's some sort of middle ground. Will take a look at it later.

Thanks guys! :D

some of my folders keep resizing and moving position despite having the whole 'save folder settings' shit going on. its only a few folders i have on my desktop, but shit is really pissing me off. some times they stay put for a couple days, sometimes only for a couple hours.

any ideas?

This seems to depend on the amount of folders/places you have visited and changed the settings of.
There is some kind of limit on the number of folders the system will remember the settings of, after that it reverts to some default.

Its very annoying and I have no idea of the limit, resetting everything to one setting, then you can 'restart' and it will remember them until it hits the limit again.

I saw some explanation once for it and some way to avert that reset, but never looked it up again (now using W7 I have less of a problem with it it looks like)

I reset the default to list and only change some of the folders to pictures, seems to work for me.

It takes several minutes for my iPod (80GB classic, a few years old) to connect with iTunes (v7-point-something; I refuse to upgrade).  Sometimes the thing won't connect for even longer; nothing displays on the Pod except the twirling circle thingie and iTunes is completely frozen.

Is this just a sign that I should wipe out the iPod and start over?  It already went through a total wipeout/re-sync that just happened.  Is this a common occurance?

I use ImageReady 7 to make animated gifs. You'll have to use Virtualdub first to convert the clip into an image sequence. Check out Mal's animated gif tutorial here

Some of mine do that.  First it happened when I had win98, and now some folders do it with XP.  It doesn't do it with folders I access regularly though, just the ones I access less often.  Every so often though, ALL my folders (even the regularly accessed ones) will all change to view as "Tiles" as the menu calls it.  It's a nuisance but you get used to it.

I'm assuming the information on how you want your folders displayed is kept somewhere, and maybe it only has a certain amount of storage space and when you have too many folders it can't handle it properly.  I'm just guessing though.  Surely someone on the net has worked out what causes it, I'll have to have a google later, I'm just about to watch last nights Lost.

I use AutoGordian Knot, specify the size you want (movies=2CD's or 1.2GB), wait a bit and presto.

Check http://www.doom9.org/ for other options

Thanks!  I already had Yamb, I used it for demultiplexing mp4, I didn't know it could cut as well.  I just tested it on a file and it works fine.

Seem to have some issue when downloading from direct download sites like Megaupload or Sendspace. Before I changed ISP's I was averaging speeds of around 40-50 kbps, now at most I get 15-20. Torrents run at a more respectable 50-60 depending upon the strength of it. As I said, I suspect changing routers is the root of the problem as I've made no adjustments to my Firewall. Could it be a port that's being blocked?

^ It also depends on the time of day (and region) but you need no extra ports open for megaupload or sendspace (speed depends mostly on the advertising revenue they get from your region)

But if your torrents are uploading at the maximum speed, they might interfere with the downloads, make sure you upload a maximum of 70% of your lines upload speed.

Also, if you suspect your router is the problem, disconnect it temporarily and plug your pc directly into your modem. If it's still slow, then at least you know it's not the router's fault.

Is it ok to leave my computer without its shell on most of the time?

Of course I'd have to make double-sure that I dust/clean it constantly or cover it again when it's humid, but I'm just wondering.
