I need urgent help, mainly to slack since he is a professor...

It's about my iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 software...  after jailbreakin and unlock using blackra1n and blacksn0w, after a while, I was messing with my files using iPhone explorer, something went wrong so I thought I had to restore it using iTunes.  I then use blackra1n and cydia, blacksn0w to jailbreak and unlock.  only this time, I can't sync with iTunes, it asks for restore.

now i'd follow the blackra1n steps to a T, but only step I can't take is to upgrade the software to 3.1.2 cuz it's already been upgraded.
how can I sync with my iTunes 9 again?

Things you might want to try first:
-Power down/power up the phone *
-Hard reboot the phone (hold home and sleep for several seconds until the screen turns black) *
-check our services, make sure that "apple mobile device" service is "started" and "automatic".
-make sure the iTunesHelper process is not running.  It causes iTunes to start whenever your phone is plugged in, and possibly try to start restoring it a3utomatically.

*doubt these would work, and might be due to this:

Hey folks - bought my 3gs the other day. Latest firmware, iboot, the works.

Ran blackra1n and like everyone else, it was stuck on the 'connect to itunes' screen. I tried pwnage, rc2, everytime I was stuck I had to restore via itunes to factory settings just to get it back to working.

Ran blackrain again. Got the itunes pic on the phone. BUT...With the phone still connected via usb, open and run Blackra1n again (2nd time) and it reboots and voila! JB'd.

Every time the phone cycles off/on, you're going to get that connect to itunes image on the phone, you have to run blackrain.

I hope this helps. I spent HOURS trying to figure this damn thing out and no one was helpful to me. I hope this helps you.

Now, that doesn't sound too encouraging, since it means you can't reboot your phone whenever you want, but it might help you get it up and running again.

Just in case, it might make a difference if you're running blackra1n RC1, RC2, or RC3.  Try using RC3.  You might also want to see the guy's blog: http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/

Not sure if any of this directly addresses your problem, but some of it might help.

I succeed in restoring my iphone 3GS.  When I restore using the custom 3.1.2 restore, I suceeded in getting all my contacts, musics, apps, photos restored when I did back it up using iTunes.  I guess the Backup option does work on unlocked phones on iTunes.

now comes another problem....  no signal.  no bars, no carrier in the settings box...  I tried taking out the sim and putting it back in, waited a few min, still nothing happen.  I tried restarting, wait 5 min, nada.
without the phone working, it's just a very expensive ipod touch with 16GB...

AND ANOTHER PROBLEM...  when using the ipod, I can't repeat a track, rewind or forward at all?  that bar that shows the duration of the songs is nowhere to be found...

For some people, resetting network settings works.

Settings>General>Reset (bottom of page)

Other people note that if you have T-Mobile, turning off 3G can do the trick.

I had the same problem with my 3gs. I found that if you install BossPrefs from Cydia, then turn everything off through BossPrefs and reboot device from BossPrefs (Reboot from BossPrefs very important) works. After device reboots, go to settings and turn airplane mode on then off. Give phone about 2 minutes or less and your signal should be found.

If nothing seems to work, it might even be a hardware problem:

I had the same problem. After unlocked a 3GS/16GB with version 3.0.1, there was no net network signal. I reset the network, turned off 3G, tried with different SIMs. Sometimes where was a little signal, then it went away to No Service. I opened up the iPhone, sure enough the signal cable (number 7) was loose. I plugged it back nice and tight, then it worked like a charm.
Hopefully though, some of the previous steps will work for you and you won't need to open the thing up.

As for your iPod playback problem, I'm assuming you're talking about this thing:

The scrub bar/repeat/shuffle/genius controls for the iPod is accessed by tapping on the cover image.

well, thank you.  everything works now...

what's weird is that disabling 3g did do the trick, I have T-mobile.  but it wasn't disable before and it work, so i guess one of my unlocking methods work against it...

How do I transfer everything from one HD to another, including all programs, software, drivers and the OS?
There's got to be a way instead just installing an OS onto another HD and redoing, reinstalling all my programs on a new HD.

Is there some transferring ways other than just drag-and-drop all my files and folders from C drive onto the new one, it won't work for the OS would it?
btw, I'm Using Windows Vista Home Premium.

I want to buy a new laptop hard drive with more space, but I don't want to lose all my programs and software and updates that I already installed onto the drive.

Sounds like you're talking about a Disk Cloning program.

Itunes, mp3 problems.
While uploading music from cds to Itunes, sometimes I'll get a song that skips. For example Aika's single from platinum 9. I even reuploaded the song from a different cd and get the same result.
Recently the last 3 purchases from Japan files have had a similar result. The songs are suppsed to be 3-4 min, but song cuts off much earlier. what can cause this and how can I fix it?

Sounds like it might be related to your drive, possibly some buffering issue, cable issue, blah blah blah.

What might help is this:
go to Edit -> Preferences (or hit Ctrl+,)

Then try ripping again.  If it works, yay!  If it doesn't, there might be other things you can try that I won't go into detail about yet.

GOTTA PROBLEM!

I messed around and installed a Windows 7 OS onto another internal hard drive of mine installed on the comp, VISTA is installed on C: drive, 7 on another.  after messing around I went back onto VISTA OS and format my drive with 7 on, thinking that it would delete my 7 OS.  but now, everytime I restart my computer, the screen pops up where I choose which OS to use, 7 or Vista.

Is there a way to remove that (7) so that it would automatically boots with VISTA?

is the Windows 7 boot from my C Drive or something else?  can I just delete a folder that makes it boot like that?

Quote from: Googling
If you go to start menu > run > type msconfig go to the boot.ini tab and click "Check all boot paths" it should detect that the xp pro doesn't exist anymore and delete it for you.

Incidentally, you could also make changes to that screen, if you wanted a dual-boot system.  Stuff like how long it waits before it just automatically selects the default, what to name the options, that kind of thing.

my internet been acting up.  I have cable internet, for the last 2 nights, the internet has been going on and off.  My cable modem, a Linksys BEFCMU10 ver. 4, showed there was no internet signal for 2 hours last night and again tonight.  Now it might not be the modem problem, it most likely my ISP is messing up, that's my thought.  I have COX Communications ISP btw.

I checked both the cable and splitter that the cable is hooking up to, there seems to be no issue with those.  Since all the cable box that connects from the splitter seems to be working fine.

I just want a peace of mind that my linksys cable modem is not the problem, but I can't be sure.  Does anyone knows if BEFCMU10 ver.4 usually have such issue after 1-2+ years?  Did anyone ever heard of some bad news about it?
just curious.
NOTE: I did try to disconnect and reconnect the cable in addition to powering off and on by pulling the power cord. last night didn't work so well, tonight the internet lights, 1-2 solids while the 2 or 3 blinks.  internet came back faster than last night.

also since on the subject. Anyone ever tried to connect and use 2 cable modem on the same ISP?  I wonder if I can hook up another cable modem near my computer without messing with the main cable modem that connects to the router for the home.

Is it possible?  I'm thinking that usually one cablem modem per service/household, but I'm not sure.  If I can hook up 2 cable modem simultaneously on the same cable network/ISP, then maybe I can hook up a router to the 2nd cable modem and position them around the house.  but I dunno if it's like a router where you can just disable a setting to make it like an extender...

You'd need to call your ISP to inquire about the modems.

You might ask them to inspect the physical connection to your house at the same time. Once my parents had a really bad cable internet connection. It turned out carbon had built-up on the connection from the lines to the house. They cleaned the connection and the connection was considerably more reliable from then out.
