I think it'll be a close series against either Carolina or Buffalo if they make it.

Gretzky himself said once that whoever won the 1st round between the Jets and Oilers back in the 80s would eventually win the Cup.  1990 was just a fuckin' disgrace, being up 3-1 in the series and then losing the next 3 in a row to the eventual Champions.  I remember the shame.

I know you've never been in the old Winnipeg Arena, but I think that players have said that the only NHL arena in the world louder than Winnipeg was the old Chicago Stadium.  Winnipeg is the home of the original "white out" and "towel power", which was mimicked all around the league.  Fuck, I need me some NHL in my hometown.

That is true. Gretzky is a wiseman.

Let's hope the Pens can move soon, the atmopshere is intense, I wish y'all could enjoy this. Every straight red blooded male lavishes this time of year!

I dunno. The thing with the Oilers. They are versatile. You want speedy Euro fuckers? They got it. You wanna trap. They can do it. You wanna be physical? BRING IT ON!!!!!

Case and point: last night's Oilers game was intense!! 8 fuckin goals in the 3rd but Oilers go up 3-0!!

peep this O Canada sung by our anthem singer, then he put his mic to the crowd and they all sang it acappella :canada:

http://rapidshare.de/files/21256176/Oilers_Ducks_O_Canada.avi.html

Gives ya goose bumps! Ducks wanna play rough? Half the Oil had the flu and they still beat the shit outta em! Look at Captain Jason Smith!

Top it off with JPH!P Pimper GEORGES LARAQUE!

A beat down in the first on Fedoruk, he asked for more but was already laying down helpless and Georges coulda pounded him but just held back. THAT'S CLASS!

Then LMAO he hams it up for the Camera and the Ducks got all uptight!! Great entertainment!

GEORGES!! :pimp:

Oilers Tidbit #2
Every playoff season that the Oilers won seven straight games or more they went on to win the Stanley Cup, including 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990.

Carolina-Buffalo are gonna have an interesting time slugging it out. Another 4-3 score tonite. Gerber gets the nod again.

We got chill and take it a game at a time. But it's funny, Oilers are supposed to be Canada's team but ....

Kuno just had to talk about a 3-1 with the other team getting three more wins. XD  Let's hope that doesn't happen this time.  Edmonton played pretty badly tonight.

1st round, Smythe Division, 1990.  Jets up 3-1 games going into game 5.

Oilers would win the Cup in 1990.

^ I remember that meltdown so well, the Cup where I was totally into things.

DAMN DAMN, didn't like how Ducks totally controlled the tempo with all those 5 on 3's ... KEEP THE STICKS DOWN. Ah well, at least:

GEORGES SCORES!! :D

Pronger HUGE HIT

Gotta regroup and beat those Ducks!!

Marty Gerber is doing just fine for the Canes ... but after they went up 2-0, 3-0 ... Buffalo just kept controlling the tempo. Nothng like a nice series going the distance...NHL 4 LIFE!!

Well I certainly must say that the winning goal in the 2nd was fuckin' pimp.  Deflection off of I believe the shaft of the stick getting Giguere to zigzag the opposite way, just beautiful.  That'll be on the plays of the year, without question.  Now the boys just gotta recuperate, get over the flu and take notes on the Hurricanes - because they WILL win the eastern conference.

 I saw the last period of the game at a strip club. It was hilarious, all the guys there were moving their heads back and forth between the game on the projection screen and the girl on stage. :damnfunny

Hmm...Chatin must have not watched the game cuz...

OILERS MOVE ON TO THE STANLEY CUP FINALS!!
(talk about anti-climatic)

the breaks. the breaks!! hustle grit...I fuckin love hockey. Moreau overcoming flu to get his long deserved first goal.

Shame to see Teemu be one of the few Finns to not get a Cup. Even Jere Lehtinen and Ville Nieminen got one. Markkanen is gonna get a chance now.
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Playoffs/Edmonton/2006/05/28/1602317-sun.html

GATOR!! :D

Don't touch the Campbell Cup!!

NICE JFC. I'd rather have watched in a strip club too cuz the CBC commentators have been driving me nuts. Listening the play by play on the radio gives ya a 5 second lag

Thank you dumb asses for trashing Whyte again. It was pretty cool to see young and old all converge on in the tens of thousands just giving a good ol "GO OILERS GO!" but shit ain't over yet. 4 MORE WINS BABY! It's really a weird feeling now, Western Conference Champs. Stanley Cup berth. DAMN. The City of Champions can ring true once again.

Overall, the good karma must've came from The Great One cuz he was backing the Oil, went into the locker room and who could forget how he pounded Kuno_Thunder's asshole back in the Summer of 2005??

A RITUAL TO BE REPEATED YEARLY!!

Great game tonite going to a 4-3 OT win for Canes out East. Buffalo totally controlled the tempo but man, the Cam Ward Card got played again and momemntum shifted. This shit is going 7 indeed.

Check this out Winnipeggers!!

Quote
Ten years after leaving Winnipeg for Phoenix, the Jets-turned-Coyotes franchise plans to head back to its hometown for the first time to play an exhibition game next season.

A news conference to announce the game, which will be played Sept. 17 vs. the Stanley Cup finals-bound Edmonton Oilers at Winnipeg's MTS Centre, is expected later this week.

/me gets up and reads article

Notice how the article is from a Phoenix newspaper, yet they refer to Winnipeg as the team's hometown.  Gives the impression that Phoenix still doesn't consider the team to be "theirs".

Oh yeah, DEFINITELY going to this one!

I actually only half-watched the game.  Last time I fully watched a game, the Oilers lost, so I figured I better not. :P

I think EVERYONE moved to Whyte, because the usual non-stop cheering was absent for a few hours on Jasper following the win.

I think Shane Doan is the only guy left on the Phoenix team that played in Winnipeg.  And he was what, 21 years old or something like that when the team moved?  Now he's team captain - how appropriate.

You fuckin' know we're going to THAT game.  Even if its back row of the upper deck, like how we saw the Raptors and TrailBlazers last year - it don't matter.

And wow, my hair was short back then.

This whole NHL season, I haven't watched so many games in my life. Tonite's game no different. End to end action, bouncing pucks all over the place. A bounce here or there and it coulda went either way.

Doug Weight is pure class. Once an Oiler, always an Oiler. It hurt so much to see him vacate the Captaincy. All we got was Hecht, Reasoner, and some other fucker. Everyone who plays in Edmonton is still connected to the copper and blue. The trainers. The winning tradition. I bet its killing him NOT to be on the Oilers.

BRING ON ORIGINAL 4 WHA MATCHUP!!

Peep the old Hartford Whalers theme song if you haven't already:
http://www.brassbonanza.com/site/modules.php?name=Audio

The lay off is overrated, Carolina has a few days off themselves. Prongs and Smith will shut down Staal and the old farts. Just hope the Oilers can stretch it a little longer so I can be back in time... 8)
