FACT: Choito Muscat has the shortest episodes (26 Episodes) and has the second least number of staying muscats (24 Muscats stayed in Choito. I didn't include the two members of the 4th Gen who stayed short and those who had short appearances (Sola, Rika, Airi, Manami, Haruka, and Ena)). This is also the season where "Black Muscats" was born (it was a prototype, consist of Rika as the leader, Airi, Haruka, and Ena. They raided a Choito Episode and rant about the fact that they are not included in the Muscat's first live concert in Shibuya A.X.)

Yeah, it surprised me too. I thought the first episode had just two or three of the OG Muscats. I had the weird idea that girls like Minori came later. But there she is...along with Nishino, Ando, and Kawamura.

I think, there were a 'core group' of about 20 Muscats (just my opinion - others might add different names):

Kishi Aino
Yuma Asami
Akiho Yoshizawa
Rio
Sora Aoi
Sho Nishino
Minori Hatsune
Jessica Kizaki
Ando Aika
Asami Ogawa
Rina Rukawa
Kaho Kasumi
Ayako Yamanaka
Nanako Kodama
Manami Yamaguchi
Airi Nagasaku
Ai sayama
Yuria Satomi
Rika Kawamura
(+ KONAN and Mihiro)

Over 5 years there were more than eighty Muscats. Just goes to show just how many girls came and went during that time.

Man, what I wouldn't give to see that 20 (or 22) do just one more series  :D

But, it's just a daydream...it's never gonna happen.  :(

Yeah, Kei, I wonder why Choito was such a short series  :?

And a lot of OG muscats are absent for at least a few episodes. Sora only does 3 episodes. Kawamura only does one!

You almost forgot Risa Kasumi...I mean...she stayed until the half of Onedari DX (I think that Onedari episode where Ai entered again and Risa leaves is like a "Sacrifice" episode. It is a coincidence since both of them are under "diet" (In Onedari, Risa became bloated that some advised her to undergo diet...PASTA Diet to be exact(she said it that time)...while Ai give way the whole season of Choito and half of Onedari DX in order for her diet to go on process))

I also wonder why...I understand Sora at that time...she is hopping from one country to the next...

BTW, one of my fave Episodes in Onedari...Thank You, Youku.... (I still wanted to get my hands on "ki.mo.chi.i.")

And yeah, Mihiro's acting is applause-worthy...I laughed at Acky's group...but dangit I ROTFLed at Sola's team....

Risa took that diet waaaaaay too far. She ended up looking really thin - scary thin.  :shocked She didn't look good at all.

But, I'm glad to say, she seemed to settle down to a happy medium between chubby and scary thin.  :)

With Choito, I wonder if Ebisu production team were having a lot of trouble with the girls 'other' work schedules.

I noticed that Ogawa, Nishino, Risa, and Minori are absent for the first 3 episodes.

Four of the gravure girls are missing for most of that series.

After looking at the Choito Muscat list (the series itself came and went quickly), the number of "real OG" members could be trimmed down.  That show seemed to feature mainly AV idols as well as some of the newer gravure idols.  This is probably the time that Ayako might have spent away from her studies since she did a full season of this.  Also, I kinda remember that prototype BMS.  Finally, I'm surprised about that weight gain Risa had but if you want to talk "scary thin", Ena was the perfect definition back then.  Can't wait for the other lists to be compiled so we can get a sense of who stayed and who left and get an idea of who I would consider the "real OG".

RE: Risa'a weight problem

Way back in the thread, someone pointed out that they taped 4 episodes at a time (one day, once a month).

So episode 5 is only one month after episode 1. Risa put on all that weight in just one month.

One of the screen caps shows that. I wonder if it was the stress of being on TV that caused Risa to over-eat?

RE: Muscats who stay - Muscats who go

There is an episode in which they do a 'Complain to Kobayashi' segment.

KONAN complains about something. I'm not sure what exactly (damn, my crappy Japanese listening comprehension!  :banghead:)

But Kobashi shows KONAN a kind of audience appreciation/reaction chart.

As far as I remember, Acky rated best. I think KONAN rated zero - or something like that.

I'm not saying that audience reaction was the only factor in whether a new member stayed or left, but if a new member caught the audiences' eye, and there was a favourable audience reaction, then it is logical that she was more likely to stay.

There could be a million reasons as to why members stayed or left. I'm sure some girls appeared for no other reason than a few of the OG muscats were absent and the production team needed a few extra girls to make up the numbers on that particular taping day.

FACT: In this season, the production team relied on auditions. Mui Kuriyama, who had a failed attempt in an audition for Mechaike (as stated in the "Great Idol War: I wanna beat AKB48" episode in Mechaike), became one of the products of said auditions. This season also had the "Sacrifice" episode where one new Muscat, or a returning Muscat in Ai Sayama's case, will enter but on the same time, a Muscat "Graduates", in the case of Risa Kasumi (The first one was in Choito Ep. 14, where a new Muscat, Yuuki Makoto, came and KONAN "Graduated" at the same time. It also the same coincidence that both KONAN and Risa graduated in the Muscat's Live Concerts).

I've just re-watched that episode. It wasn't an audience appreciation thing; it was a production staff, muscat popularity contest. The asked the production staff who their favourite muscat was.  (人気投票 = にんきとうひょう = popularity contest).

The results were: Acky 8 votes, Rio 6 votes, and Mihiro 5 votes...KONAN got 0 votes.

I really should watch these things before I write stuff

Kei, it's Onedari!! episode 14 (I can't find a video of that episode)

But, the Kobayashi P. segment is on YT (マスカッツ大総会_2) translates as 'Muscats big general meeting'

Kobayashi doesn't list any other member's ranking in the popularity contest apart from Acky, Rio, Mihiro, and KONAN (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 21st).

Which is from Choito episode 11. I would guess (it's late and I don't want to start looking up kanji :bleed eyes:) is another popularity contest ranking.

KONAN bottom of the ranking with just 1 (maybe? :?)

Except Kawaii Koshien, Ouku, and Skatto Telephone...what are your fave Muscat segment?

Mine would be the "Make Yuma Cry" series, Cider Queen Contest, and "Vote a Talent" segments (The "Vote a Talent" series is when 2 Muscats will be voted (Red or White) depending on the talent that they will present).

For my favorite segment, it's a toss up between the "Sexy Muscat" contest and the "Angel/Devil Muscat" segment (where the Ogi-san determined whether the crying was genuine or not).  The latter segment showcased the fact that Manami had a hard time producing tears.

Ohh....The "Muscats Sentimental Challlenge"....well...from season 1 until that segment....it proves that Yuma-chin is worthy of the monicker, "Crying Diva".

I gotta say my guilty pleasure is the 'argument king' segment, the Aoi disciplines members (in the homeroom) segment, and random sh*t girls would shout out during Kawaii Koshien.

My favourite 'argument king': either Nishino vs Ogawa (AKA: 'The Battle of the See-through Panties') or Nishino vs Kaho (I know it's a cliche, but Nishino looks even more beautiful when she's angry :inlove:)

I love watching KONAN and Kasumi Risa getting fired up  while Sora tries to discipline them. LOL

This one, I think, is my fave "Reprimand" episode. I mean, Sola owned her best friend, Yuma...and owned both Risa and KONAN for the Nth Time (I LOLed at Sola calling KONAN, a "gorilla")...But, dangit, Acky...WHAT'S WITH THE ENKA?!
