Chapter 18
Chii stretched herself out as she left the dance studio, she and Yurina were the last two to leave, for some reason Momo had talked to both her and Yurina till the others had left before she herself had rushed out of the room leaving the two of them alone. Chii looked up at the girl walking next to her, she had gotten a lot closer to Yurina recently, never realizing how much she actually enjoyed being in the older girls company, Chii reflected, with a degree of sadness, that Miya was the one responsible for her deeper friendship with Yurina, she was sure that Miya spent as much time with her as she could but, now that Miya was with Saki, more of their free time was taken up together, time that Chii and Miya would of spent together in the past leaving Chii to spend more of her free time with others. Not once had Chii thought to put any fault on this situation on Saki, she knew that it was no fault of her Captain but Chii had taken to wondering recently that if she could of gotten get her feelings for Miya sorted out sooner then perhaps, if she did indeed love her, things would have been different.
“Hello, Chii you still with us?”
“Huh?, What?”
“Geez, you must have been in deep thought” Yurina replied giggling “You looked like you were sleep-walking or something”
“I was thinking about Miya and Captain” Chii said “I dunno it's still a bit weird for me” Chii was surprised at how easily she admitted what she was thinking about to Yurina, there was just something about the girl that made Chii want to be honest with her.
“Is it because you miss spending as much time as you used to with Miya?”
“What makes you say that?” Chii asked cautiously, afraid that Yurina may have figured out her confused feelings towards Miya
“Because you've been different since Miya and Captain started going out, I just figured that because you and Miya are so close that it must be something to do with missing her a bit”
“I suppose I do miss her a bit” Chii admitted “It's like I would ring her up to do something and in the past she would all ways say yes but now, she's usually with Captain in stead”
“They have just started going out Chii, of course they are going to spend lots of time together and it's not as though she ignoring you or anything but you know, if you ever need someone for anything or just someone to hang out with I-I'm all ways here for you, if you need me” Yurina blushed slightly after she had finished talking, to her immense relief Chii did not notice
Chii was smiling however when she replied “Well if you're all ways around for me then lets go watch a movie, there's one on I want to see and I was going to go with Miya but she's busy tonight so, if your not busy, would you like to come with me?”
“I-I'd love to” Yurina replied nervously, a happy smile on her face “Just let me grab my things and I will be with you”
O.K. I'll wait in our room” Chii said as Yurina nodded and headed off down the corridor
Chii made it to the Berryz's room a couple of minuets later and sat down on a sofa and setted into waiting for Yurina, she was oddly surprised at how happy she was that Yurina had said yes to going to the movies with her, she wondered if she should of mentioned Miya but Yurina seemed not to mind and Chii was keen if possible, not to bring the topic up again, besides she and Yurina were only friends.
“Chii? What are you doing here, I thought you had gone home?”
“Captain?” Chii said standing up “Sorry I was waiting for Yurina”
“There's no need to be sorry silly” Saki said sitting down on the sofa, getting Chii to sit down with her in the process “So Yurina Eh?” she said, nudging Chii
“It's nothing like that, we're just friends besides we're only going to see a movie” Chii replied defensively
“I'm not sure friends blush that much”
“What do you mean?”
“Well” Saki said looking slyly at Chii “I walked past Yurina on the way here and she was as red in the face as a tomato, I wondered why but now I know”
“L-Look it's probably because she was warm or something”
“Warm?, more like hot under the collar!”
“Captain don't tease!” Chii pouted but seeing her leader giggling showed her that Saki was only joking around “Meanie!” she pouted once again causing both girls to giggle this time, after it had died down both girls took a moment to catch their breath.
“Saki, can I ask you a question?” Chii said, using her Captain's name, something she had not done in a while
“Sure, what is it?” Saki asked aware that Chii had used her name, realizing it must be something important
“Why did you break up with me?”
It was a question that Saki had know that one day she would have to answer truthfully but had all ways been worried about doing so, especially because of the answer she would give. It was there secret, and Momo's eventually as well, the only 3 people to know that once upon a time she and Chii had dated. Saki had really liked Chii, the girls happy, care-free attitude had attracted the attention of the more Serious, caring personality that Saki possessed herself, Chii, she all ways said, made her smile, truth be told she still did . Saki had truly enjoyed her time with Chii but to Saki something just felt as though it was missing, like there was a missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle that was their relationship
Sometimes Saki wondered if she would be happier if she had stayed with Chii, she was unwilling enough at first to ask Miya out because of it and Saki still wasn't sure she had fully gotten rid of her feelings for the girl sitting beside her but through all their time together Saki, though happy, felt as though what she felt wasn't true love, something she felt as though she may of found with Miya. Momo had said that Chii had moved on, it seems that she had too with Yurina and Saki was glad, she now felt less guilty dating Miya because she now knew that Chii had someone else as well.
Saki had yet to tell Miya of her and Chii's relationship, she knew she would have to one day but the girl was so involved in both her and Chii's life and had been for many years, including when they were dating, that she wasn't quite sure what the best way would be to tell her, she was even involved in the reasons why Saki broke up with Chii, though that was no fault of her own.
“I told you when we broke up didn't I?” Saki said, still holding onto half a hope that she may avoid the real reason
“I mean the real reason Saki” Chii replied “I'm fine with knowing, it's all in the past between us now anyway”
Saki sighed before answering “It seems such a stupid reason now but.... well, I though that you and Miya loved each other”
“In love with Miya!?” Chii asked, stunned by Saki's answer
Saki nodded “ It seems silly now but at the time you two were so close and I was young and foolish and I suppose I was a bit jealous of you two as well, I have learnt that you and Miya are just really good friends, something I did not see back then but after we broke up, me and Miya started getting closer and in the end I fell for her”
“I think perhaps it was more than just me and Miya” Chii said after a while “I think perhaps we both figured out that, all though it was good, it didn't quite feel right... I don't mean that I regret going out with you Saki, don't ever think that!”
“I have never regretted it either” Saki said smiling at Chii “Besides it's not as if we aren't friends now is it?”
“Yeah, good friends” Chii replied giving Saki a hug “Thank you for telling me”
“Truth be told I should have told you a long time ago, I'm sorry”
“Hey no regrets remember” Chii said making Saki smile
The door to the room swung open and both girls looked to see who had interrupted their talk “Chii, I'm ready to go..... Oh, hello Captain”
“Hello Yurina” Saki replied before turning to Chii “Well off you go then!”
“Do you want to come too Captain?” Yurina asked politely
“No thank you Yurina, I'm out with Miya tonight”
“Don't get too lovey-dovey” Yurina joked making Saki blush
“Come on Yurina lets go” Chii said getting up from the couch and heading towards the door with Yurina “see you around Saki”
“Bye” Saki waved cheerfully at the two girls as they left the room
“What where you talking to Saki about?” Yurina asked as they walked down the corridor, she asked not out of jealousy but curiousness
“Oh, about her and Miya”
“Do you feel any better about it now?” Yurina asked, remembering her conversation with Chii earlier
“Yeah a bit” Chii replied “I suppose you could say I learned something interesting”
“Interesting?”
Chii laughed at the enquiring look on Yurina's face and tapped her nose “It's a secret” she said mysteriously
“I want to know what it is” Yurina pouted giving Chii a pleading look
“Don't give me puppy-dog eyes” Chii said giving Yurina a mock telling-off “Maybe I will tell you after the movie”
“Well then lets go!” Yurina said grabbing Chii by the hand and dragging her towards the exit of the building
Chii smiled at Yurina's excited response “I'm sorry Yurina but I can't tell you yet” she thought to herself sadly” How can I tell you that Saki may have figured out long ago something that I am perhaps too afraid to admit myself, the fact that I am in love with Miya!”
