Drew against Reading today so we have to go and replay the match away. Not surprising really, we always seem to do things the hard way...
I see the debate on the number of foreign players has intensified lately, probably because of the state of the England team, saying no potential world-class players aren't coming from England and given opportunites. And while yes, there are a large number of foreign players in the League, I don't think they should be blamed because the England team is in a bad run of form. There's a number of factors that contribute to the problem, the decline of nuclear families, the rising levels in child obesity (UK is the highest in Europe I believe), lack of government support etc. And without foreign players you wouldn't have the same level of excitement from enjoyment in watching the Premiership over the last 15 years. If the likes of Cantona, Zola, Bergkamp and Henry doesn't motivate you as a kid, then I don't know what will.
Nevermind the issues of diving, racism, bung culture, rising ticket prices and the existence of Peter Kenyon, FIFA delegates found time to bring in new laws for next season that will see a player celebrating a goal booked for such things as 'cupping his ear with his hand or holding a finger across his mouth in a 'Silence, please' gesture, Klinsmann-type dives or dancing round the corner flag.'
Seriously lads. Well done.
