I'm just wondering what Liverpool fans will chant at us now instead of "USA! USA!"

Pretty dull friendly yesterday with N.Ireland and Wales. Admittedly we are pretty timid without David Healey

Good weekend for football, Chelsea may have won 3-0 against the Boro (although one was an own-goal so that doesn't count) but we won 2-0 with the goal scoring machines that are Park Ji-Sung and Darren Fletcher. And I just have to laugh at Liverpool losing to Newcastle, what with this talk of a title push. What was that Gerrard? You can prove yourselves and win the Premiership by winning all of your games? I think 1 point out of a possible 6 would indicate that you don't have what it takes.

On the other hand, it was my worst week ever with the betting. Only my Reading win prediction was right out of my 6 choices. Every other team lost. :(

we didn't play particularly well (against one of the bottom sides of the comp), but we got the three points that we needed - only 11 games to go (and nine more wins will do!)

Quote from: Luis Figo
"In individual terms I think Cristiano could win every title going because he has the quality to do so. But equally I think it depends on the club where he is at to live up to his standards."

Are we one of the biggest clubs in the world consistently competing for the most prestigious trophies or Madrid's feeder? There is no club in the world you could leave us for and justifibly say 'they're bigger'. Maybe what he really means is 'we're a bunch of pussies who don't like hard tackles' (despite the fact that's what they get in bed).

Quote from: Hugo Viana
"He won't be at United for much longer. It's complicated for them to keep him now...Ronaldo has worked hard and, within a little time, he will be with another team more important than United."

If I was Ronaldo, I wouldn't take my advice from a player who is, well, frankly rubbish.

I'm getting sick of this Ronaldo speculation myself. If he wants to go in 3-5 years time, I have no issue with that at all. But not when he's at 22 and is one of our best players. My take on it is 50 million plus Messi otherwse no deal and fuck off, stop tapping up our own player.

Gunners are into the next round of the FA cup. Sweet, but damn what a ridiculous game! It didn't need to go into extra time. Bolton took it to the wire. We had so many chances to score. Two missed penalties :( That breakaway by Adebayor should have been it, but he managed to screw it up. Glad to have Ljungberg back.

All I can do is hope and pray that Man u aren't gonna win the title, but let's face it, it's gonna happen. Shame really.

^ As opposed to Chelsea winning it for the 3rd year in a row? Boring. Better for the game if someone else wins it for a change (even better if it's the team I support). And it's also good to know that despite having a seemingly unlimited bank balance, all the money in the world still can't buy you a great team.

Although you raise a very good point, which I do agree with, I'm a  Liverpool fan, therefore I'd rather Chelsea win for the next 100 years than Man U win once. No offence. :)

Drew against Reading today so we have to go and replay the match away. Not surprising really, we always seem to do things the hard way...

I see the debate on the number of foreign players has intensified lately, probably because of the state of the England team, saying no potential world-class players aren't coming from England and given opportunites. And while yes, there are a large number of foreign players in the League, I don't think they should be blamed because the England team is in a bad run of form. There's a number of factors that contribute to the problem, the decline of nuclear families, the rising levels in child obesity (UK is the highest in Europe I believe), lack of government support etc. And without foreign players you wouldn't have the same level of excitement from enjoyment in watching the Premiership over the last 15 years. If the likes of Cantona, Zola, Bergkamp and Henry doesn't motivate you as a kid, then I don't know what will.

Nevermind the issues of diving, racism, bung culture, rising ticket prices and the existence of Peter Kenyon, FIFA delegates found time to bring in new laws for next season that will see a player celebrating a goal booked for such things as 'cupping his ear with his hand or holding a finger across his mouth in a 'Silence, please' gesture, Klinsmann-type dives or dancing round the corner flag.'

Seriously lads. Well done.

^ Lol drama !! One of the more dramatic event i've seen in a football game. For those who don't know, Thailand players decided to abandon the match after the ref awarded a penalty against them at the 83rd min when scores were tied @ 1-1.

In the end, after 15+ odds minutes, they managed to convince Thailand to play again and Singapore duly converted the penalty for a 2-1 win for the 1st leg of the ASEAN cup finals.

Never imagined i'll quote myself but Lille almost did the same thing at the champs league game against Man Utd this morning.

For full drama, click here

Edit: I just realised both happened @ 83rd min !! Coincidence ?!

Madness last night. Lille were stupid enough to almost walk off the pitch and could get kicked out of the competition as a result. Feyenoord were kicked out of the UEFA Cup this season after crowd trouble marred their tie against Nancy, so perhaps United can get a bye into the next round :D

Not a great performance overall though.

Only saw the odd bit as I was flicking over from the Real game, that wasn't half bad either. It was pretty gutting for me actually, turned over just as Lille scored...brilliant, only to be ruled out. Cunt. I'm more worried about tonight though tbh, I feel a bit sick.

OMG, I really don't know what to say. That was genuinely shocking, more than I could ever have hoped for, 1-0 to Barcelona would hav been a godsend. Loving Bellamy's celebration I have to say!

To be compltely honest we were lucky to be drawing at half time, but we did play well in the second half. It was a pretty good match actually, but I don't really know what went on in the other games, I only saw the goals (or lack of).
