Never really heard of Da Silva, but he sounds promising. 30 odd goals in 34 league matches. I see the Arsenal fans are split at the minute because it's not a big name certified goal scorer they were hoping for, while others are excited by him. Then again, you'll always get that with any player signed. I wouldn't mind a striker of his capibility myself (or any certified striker for that matter!). Good thing to hear Anderson got his work permit too.

I just wish Torres would hurry up and put pen to paper, because I'm sick about hearing it every day. And Lampard as well. Depending on what paper you read, he's either playing hardball (which he presumably does better than he plays football) or is desperate to sign, but either way won't be leaving. And if Liverpool do sign Heinze I swear to God, I will kill someone.

In other news, H-O-L-Y S-H-I-T!!

Quote from: Rafa Benitez
"We needed to work hard because there were other clubs who wanted him [Torres] that we knew about"

Yeah, better ones :P

So that's it, Torres signs a 6 year contract with the Kop, breaking their club transfer record at £26.5 mil. How many years do you think it will be before he leaves Pool as a failure and explodes somewhere else?

So I hear! And at 20mil (at least, that's what the Mirror reports), it's a wild step down from the supposed 50mil he was worth, hell it's even below what Torres cost. The Times however say it's a season loan worth 4mil at first, with a possible permanent contract at the end of season, which would be even better.

So apparently, the Premier League is resisting the move of Tevez. That's just slightly (okay, massively) hypocritical as Mascherano was bought by Liverpool in a way that pleased everybody. The clubs, the players, any thrid parties, the Premier League, FIFA everybody. We're following the same method Liverpool have done and now they want to stop us? Nope, won't happen.

In fact, reports say that Tevez has agreed to join us!. Good show! People, fans included, are doubting whether we need Tevez or not, but look at it this way. We coped, fairly well last season without an out-and-out goalscorer, but actually having one brings a sense of security to the fans, at least that's what I believe. Tevez has already had a year to settle into the Premiership, and was scoring goals in almost every match for West Ham towards the latter stage of the season. I think, for a 2-year loan, that's a damn pretty good deal. And with Rooney, Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, Anderson, Nani, Carrick, Hargreaves, well, that's a damn impressive squad, with plenty of attacking options available, and the best part is, the players are known to play in a variety of positions, making play that much more fluid.

Now you can say that we've essentially bought the League title, but that's not the case. For a start, the damn league hasn't even started yet. Second of all, Andy Gray actually brought up the point that we're buying big now, so that in the next couple of years, we don't have to. As much as we hate to think it, Giggs, Scholes and Neville won't be around forever. Which is why Nani and Anderson were brought in as their replacements. I think the first year for them will be an easing in period, getting to grips with the Premiership and adapting. I'm not expecting huge things from them straight away. The Premiership is one of the hardest leagues in the world to adapt to. It took Vidic and Evra the best part of 6 months or so to  get used to it, and now they're heralded as some of the best defenders in Europe.

Sorry about that. Just had to get it off my chest! ROLL ON AUGUST!!!

The whole Tevez saga is getting better, or worse if you're West Ham/Premier League. Rumours have it that Tevez's agent, Kia Joorabchian has prepared to hand papers to Sheffield Utd that provides 'damning' evidence against the Hammers and the League and is prepared to use them in order to make Tevez move to Utd. The whole things getting ridiculous now. Mascherano moved to Liverpool in a fashion where every involved party was happy, we're following the same and suddenly it's all stopped? The Premier League are making themselves look like fools.

This certainly raises the eyebrows. According to reports, and these are only just reports, AC Milan are looking to buy Ronaldinho, even if it means forking over the £89 million (125 million euros) to trigger his buy-out clause

Brazil 3 - 0 Argentina : Brazil win Copa America

Brazil totally outplayed Argentina with better tactics, teamwork, players and formation, despite the fact that Argentina had more possession throughout the match. It was pretty odd of Argentina to play with 5 central midfielders, no wingers and to finish the match without a striker. People say that the Brazil squad isn't as stylish as what they would like to see, but regardless, they are a very very good team.

So with that over Tevez looks set for a medical on Wed, but I don't see the deal reaching the conclusion anytime soon. And now we're starting to clean up the roster a bit with Richardson supposedly going to either Sunderland or Man City. I'll always thank Richardson for his part in the Utd squad, but surely, he knows himself that he has no chance with Nani and Anderson coming in. Disturbingly, Fergie has said that Heinze's agent has told him that he has intentions of leaving Utd, with the front-runner being Liverpool. I think Heinze is a great player, but if he crosses the great divide, I won't know what to believe anymore :o

Also, Milan vice-president, Adriano Galliani has assured that they will buy a top-class striker, out of Drogba, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho, Eto'o or Alexandre Pato. Who would you rather have?

Drogba won't be allowed to leave, Ronaldinho is too expensive.

Would be either Shevchenko @ half price, Eto @ 20M +-

I've never heard of Pato though -_-;;

Pato is labelled as a up and coming Brazilian striker, but apparently he's quite similar to Saviola in terms of skills at this age. While a Saviola is a decent/good player, it falls a bit short of the expectations (unrealistic) placed on him.

I can't believe the Tevez thing is still going on...I still think we'll be better off without him, I want an out-and-out striker type for that money rather than the in-and-out type which we have a lot of (and which Rooney excels at). I want to see Heinze in Spain, not in Liverpool!

So apparently, Benitez is working with lawyers to try and get Heinze, despite what Fergie has clearly stated. I really hope he doesn't go, period. I think he's a great player to have, but there is that trouble of not getting much first team games with Evra on. And the likes of Brown or Silvestre are happy enough to fill in if necessary. What is it with Argentinian players and their transfers? Do they always drag on this long?

Not been here in a while either...
Well as I expected all the talk is of Tevez and Heinze, but I'm not really too concerned about either of them at the mo. Obviously I'm hoping that United don't get Tevez (and even though I hate to speculate, last week it looked like a dead cert they would, now it sorta hangs in the balance...but obviously a lot can change in football real quick so I guess we'll just wait and see). Though I do agree that Mascherano was allowed to come to us pretty easily considering, though obviously the Premier League want to take a more hard-line approach to sop stuff like this happening again.

As for Heinze, well I'm not gonna cry over the outcome whatever it is. I can't see him staying at United seeing as he seems to want out so badly, I have always rated him highly though so it would be...hm, ok for him to come to us. Only okay as he'd still be ex-United. Like my brother said I think I'd have to forgive him if things did go to court as it shows he really does want to leave. But if he doesn't come then I ain't gonna be upset really, whatever happens happens.

As for da 'pools signings...well Benayoun I'm unsure about, not a bad little player but I would have counted on Benitez going for someone bigger with the cash now. Babel sounds promising but he didn't do much against Auxerre...and Torres, well i jsut hope he isn't another Morientes.

Da Silva is probably who I'm most curious to see in the new season, he's got a great record so it'll be interesting to see how he does in the Prem...would still be funny to see Arsenal get relegated though (nowhere near as funny as Newcastle, however).

^ I would laugh if Man City were relegated, quite frankly. Though Newcastle would be hilarious as well.

Asia Tour going pretty well for us I think. We won 6-0 against Shenzhen FC yesterday, with new signing Nani scoring on his debut. I was worried he got injured though when he landed somewhat awkwardly after his celebration  Unfortunately, Schole's is injured, and has to have an operation which will put him out for a month at least. That adds to the injury list of Hargreaves, Saha and Solskjaer. Where is Anderson though? I take it he's still resting from Copa America? I can't wait to see him play.

We won the appeal, so he's ours.

I think Fergie is giving him a bit of a break because of the Copa America (after all, he was injured for half a season when playing for Portal), Dong is having a break as well.

Right, Heinze (or his agent, whatever) is being a cock now..

This whole situation is ridiculous now. And saying Man U should let him go just because Liverpool met the asking fee is beside the point. If United ever made a bid for Steven Gerrard for a world record fee and given the assumption that Stevie wants to leave the club, do you think Liverpool will sell? Hell no! I find all this total bollocks! The reasoning behind leaving is poor too. Apparently it's because he won't be a first choice left-back, but does he think he will replace Riise? Don't see it. I want Heinze himself to speak about the situation, because this is not reflecting well on him. Utd fans are turning against him (rightfully so for someone who's showing such disregard for the club and the fans) and Liverpool fans don't want to get caught in this legal wrangle. God help him if he stays though, cause Fergie would likely let him rot in the reserves, and should Evra get injured, would rely on either Silvestre or O'Shea. Heinze would then waste the two remaining years of his contract and become a slower player.

United finished off the Asia Tour with a 3-0 win over Guangzhou, with Nani scoring yet again, showing himself to be worth the money. Apparently though, Fergie has told him in no uncertain terms to cut out the elaborate celebration for fear of injuring his ankle. Makes sense but what are the odds he'll do it anyway? XD

Well quite a lot has happened lately! Where do I start?

I suppose with the recent news that Rossi and Smith have been sold to Villareal and Newcastle respectively. Each around £6 mil and with Rossi's contract we have a buy back clause. I just worry that we don't have enough available strikers at the moment. Saha and Solskjaer are both injured which only leaves Rooney, Tevez (eventually) and Fangzhou. Still, we have enough quality in attacking midfield, and we did pretty well for a squad who won the Premiership and scored the most goals of the season.

Looks like it's D-Day in the Tevez-gate scandal. Hope it gets sorted out. Ex-United player Veron says that he told Tevez that it will be very difficult for him and even he had trouble with us. But then again, he had trouble with Chelsea too. And Heinze could indeed just rot in the reserves by the sounds of it. Although there's a rumour that we can do a swap deal with Juventus for Giorgio Chiellini, an under-21 left sided player. Never heard of him though, so I can't comment.

On the other hand, we've bought a real whizz kid. Literally! Say hello to . Interesting :o

The Milk Cup has been running all this week here in N.Ireland. It's a youth football tournament where clubs and international squads like Man Utd, Chelsea, Benfica, Bayern Munich send their youth teams to compete in a tournament basis. Fergie is a big fan of the tournament and it's here where the likes of David Beckham and Wayne Rooney broke through. Best thing about it is, one of the stadiums that hosts the matches, is only a 5 min drive from my house :D I've been to see 2 matches already. The first being Israel against Denmark, in which Israel absolutely thumped Denmark with a 5-1 victory, the first goal being hugely impressive. One player scored 4 of Israels goals for them. And yesterday it was N.Ireland against Chile, which good ol Norn Iron won 3-2 :D So it's shaped up for an Israel v Norn Iron final tonight but unfortunately it's at a different stadium. I expect Israel to win. They beat Wales 5-0 yesterday XD Now tonight looks more interesting. 2 semi finals with Fluminese v Brussels and the most important one Benfica against....MAN UTD!! Going to see both. Come on Utd!! :D
