Ch. 10:Planning for the Moment
“I wish you wouldn’t let my father push you around so much.” Risa lamented as she sat across from Reina during a break in rehearsal. It was something that had been on their minds since the other night and they finally decided to sit down and talk about it, though maybe now was not the best of times, it was really the only time they could be relatively alone nowadays. Their hands rested on the table top between them and the bean was lightly playing with Reina’s fingers. The other members were scattered about, some in the room on the couch, a few being silly in the corner. Lin and Aika were laughing around at the other end of the table.
“He’s not pushing me around and I think his rules are perfectly fair. He just doesn’t want any hanky panky in the house. Lord knows if I had my way, we’d do it every waking moment.” They giggled quietly, Reina flattening out her hands so that Risa could trace the lines on her palm.
“I guess so, but that doesn’t stop me from being upset at him sometimes. I mean, he’s treating us like kids who have no self control. You and I are both adults and we’ve been together for so long now, I think we’re perfectly capable of sharing a bed and not having sex.” The yankii nodded in agreement and they fell into a comfortable silence.
After a while, Reina grinned shyly, “You know what’s coming up pretty soon?” They shared a look and Risa nodded, “Well, I’m making plans on the 19th,” she emphasized the date, to the bean’s amusement, “And I’m hoping to avoid the disaster that was our last anniversary, so I’m telling you in advance that we are definitely going to have dinner at a location of my choosing, which I will not tell you where, because it’s a surprise. Also you might call me a pervert when you find out.”
Risa gave her a knowing look, “It’s not a love hotel, is it?”
“No, of course not, I have a little bit of class, after all. It’s not the park either,” she stated, causing them to both laugh, “But I wanted to know if there’s anywhere you had planned so that we can work out our schedule for the day.”
“Well, there is one place I’ve always found particularly romantic that I want to go and we can walk there from my apartment. Dinner is up to you, though, so wherever we go if fine. I don’t even care if it is the park again, or a love hotel,” she murmured with a blush, “As long as you’re there.” Reina smiled warmly and intertwined their hands, lifting them up to gently kiss the back of Risa’s knuckles.
Just happening to glance down the table, Reina noticed that they had the attention of their two youngest kouhai’s and as she couldn’t read their looks, she immediately became defensive, “Do you guys have a problem?” she said in her sternest voice.
Aika and Lin exchanged a quick, startled glance before vehemently denying the accusation, “No no no! Of course not!”
“Then what’s with that look?” They exchanged another look, a bit more terrified this time. Full on Yankii Reina was a scary sight to behold and she was looking at them as if the only thing keeping her from beating them over the head with something was Risa’s grip on her hands.
“I- well, it’s just that,” Aika ventured uneasily, “It’s a little strange to see you two being so… Lovey dovey.”
Risa’s laughter interrupted the next thing Reina was about to say, “Tanakacchi, really, don’t be so hard on them. It must be pretty weird to see their senpais, who showed no inkling of interest towards one another, in such a relationship. I know I would think so if I were them.” Lin and Aika joined in her laughter in relief at her coming to their rescue, “But, I know that they couldn’t possibly have any problem with us,” Suddenly, Risa’s voice dropped to a dangerous tone and her eyes narrowed and darkened, her gaze seeming to shoot the flames of Hell itself at them, “Right?”
“Right, right. Yeah, absolutely.” They hastened to agree. If there was anything more frightening than Reina’s often seen explosiveness, it was Niigaki’s rare rage.
Her smile turned back to it’s usual intensity and she giggled at them, “Great, now why don’t you guys run along?” The hachiki members couldn’t scramble out of their chairs fast enough.
