Chapter 76 “Risa~ Wake up~”
“Just five more minutes, Ai…”
“If you don’t get up now, I’m going to touch you~”
“Five minutes…”
“I warned you; here I come!”
Ai smirked and pounced on her sleeping girlfriend and started to tickle her waist. Risa jumped up, giggling and trying to wrap her arms around herself to fend off the idol’s attack.
“Stop, stop!” Risa laughed. “Okay, I’m up! I’m awake now, stop!”
“It would’ve been easier if you just woke up in the first place,” Ai grinned.
The two girls were sitting on Risa’s bed as the morning sunshine settled into the room through the open windows. Risa was wearing a tank top and shorts with a thin sweatshirt over it. Ai was wearing a white button down shirt with only her underwear; the collar shirt was borrowed from the bean.
“Aren’t you even tired, Ai?” Risa yawned. “I’m still exhausted from yesterday’s trip…”
“I’m tired,” the singer nodded. “But I’m hungry too. Make something for me to eat, Risa.”
“You can cook, can’t you?” Risa mumbled, hugging a pillow. “Make your own breakfast.”
“But I want you to do it for me~” Ai whined, wrapping her arms around the reluctant bean. “Make me something.”
“What happened to you over night?” Risa asked, raising an eyebrow. “You’re a lot more childish than usual.”
“There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be spoiled by my girlfriend,” Ai giggled, nuzzling closer. She planted a quick smooch on Risa’s lips. “Come on, we’ll make breakfast together.”
“Together sounds better than me, myself, and I,” Risa grinned.
The couple got up from the bed. Before Ai walked out of the bedroom, Risa whistled loudly. The idol turned back to have something gray hit her head.
“Put those on,” Risa ordered. “Don’t walk around my house short-less; Eri could walk in any time she wants.”
Ai smiled and started to say something back, but she stopped herself before she annoyed her girlfriend too much. She obediently put on the shorts, took Risa’s hand, and walked out of the room.
When they arrived in the kitchen, the bean shuffled over to the refrigerator and took out two eggs. She walked over to the pantry to get the black frying pan and placed it on the stove. She turned the switch to bring out the blazing fire.
“Ai, could you get the spatula from the counter for me?” Risa requested, cracking the eggs into the pan.
“Sure,” the idol answered. She got the cooking tool and placed it next to the stove.
“Thanks,” Risa said, washing her hands in the sink. She grabbed her long hair and twirled it around on top of her head. She removed the hair-tie from around her wrist and secured the bun.
“Nee, Risa,” Ai called, looking into the refrigerator. “I see strawberries; can I have some?”
“Yeah, they’re already washed so you can just eat them right away,” Risa answered, concentrating on the sunny-side up eggs on the frying pan.
The singer removed the clear container full of strawberries from the refrigerator. She popped open the cover and took the berry into her mouth.
“Okay, the eggs are done,” Risa announced. She turned around and put down the plate of eggs on the table. She walked back around the counter and leaned on it. “What else can we eat?”
“I think just eggs and this is fine,” Ai said, holding up a small piece of strawberry. “You want some?”
“Sure.”
Risa reached for the fruit in the idol’s hand but Ai quickly popped it into her own mouth. The singer trapped her lover between her arms and kissed her, pushing the strawberry into the younger girl’s mouth. Risa let out a small whimper as the cold berry hit her teeth, followed by the older girl’s warm tongue. The fruit was sweet and tasty, just like Ai’s flavor.
“Does it taste good?” Ai whispered, smiling.
“It’s sweet,” Risa answered, blushing. “I want more.”
The bean leaned forwards to meet her girlfriend’s lips once again. Their tongues intertwined, trying to taste each other as much as they could. Risa just wanted to stay like this forever. Having Ai in front of her like this was her most treasured moment. She could truly understand what a wonderful thing it was to have the one you love always beside you.
Suddenly, the sound of glass shattering echoed in the room. Ai and Risa broke their kiss, turning around to look at where the disturbance had come from.
Two black-haired girls were standing at the entrance of the kitchen. The younger girl in the front was pale with her eyes wide in shock and her lips trembling. Her hands were suspended in air; it was she who had dropped the glass plate. The older girl in the back had her hair in a side ponytail; her eyes also widened but she seemed more in control than the other girl.
“Sayu!” Risa exclaimed, breaking free of her girlfriend’s embrace. “You got released from the hospital? You should’ve called us; Kameha and I could’ve gone to get you!”
“Risa-chan…” Sayumi said, her voice trembling. “You… and… Takahashi-san…”
“Huh?” The bean looked back at her girlfriend, who had a serious expression on. She blushed, realizing what her friend had seen. “Oh… um, yeah. I didn’t tell you yet, right? Ai and I are going out.”
“You’re… going out… with
her?” Sayumi asked shakily. Her eyes were burning with fury now. Her entire body was trembling with rage.
“Yeah…” Risa answered, confused by her friend’s reaction. “Sayumi, are you okay? Why did you drop the plate? Now I have to clean this up—”
“Risa-chan, how could you do this to me?” Sayumi screamed, taking a step back. Risa looked at her in surprise. Ai clenched her fists tightly. Junjun pursed her lips.
“Do what?” Risa asked, completely oblivious. “Sayumi, what’s wrong?”
“You… after all the times I’ve confessed my love for you…” Sayumi sobbed, tears of betrayal streaming down her cheeks. “How did
she convince you, huh? Why did you take her seriously but not me? Risa-chan, how could you?”
“Sayumi, I don’t understand—”
“
I love you!” the younger girl cried. “I love you more than anything else in the world! But you never even took my feelings seriously… How could you do this to me, Risa-chan?”
Before the bean could say anything, Sayumi ran out of the house as fast as she could. Ai gripped at the counter until her knuckles turned white. Junjun turned to look at the wide-eyed Risa, who was trying to comprehend the situation.
“You know, Gaki-san,” the panda said quietly. “I knew you could be oblivious but I didn’t know you could be that insensitive.”
“Sayumi… she… loved me?” Risa breathed.
“She still does,” Junjun answered. “Every single time Shige-san confessed, you never took her sincerely. Every single one of your empty ‘I love yous’ hurt her.”
“I… I hurt her?” Risa gasped.
“So many times,” Junjun replied. She glared at the awe-stricken girl for a while, and then ran out of the house after the girl she loved.
Risa leaned against the doorway to hold herself up. Sayumi had been in love with her the whole time. Every time she expressed her feelings, she had taken it as a joke, hurting her in the process. Yet she took Ai seriously and never glanced once at the younger girl. She had hurt her over and over again…
“Go after her.”
Risa turned around to see her girlfriend right behind her. Ai’s face was smooth and expressionless, but there was still something off about her.
“You want me to go after her?” Risa whispered.
“She’s your friend,” Ai explained. “If you don’t set things right with her now, you’ll regret it later.”
Risa stared at the idol for a moment; she then kissed her on her cheeks and whispered a word of thanks in her ears. The bean quickly ran out of the house, shoving her feet into her sneakers in the process. Ai was left alone in the kitchen, staring down at the broken glass on the floor.
“
Why didn’t she reveal me?” she thought. “
I didn’t expect Sayumin to lose it like that; she could’ve just told Risa everything… so why didn’t she? What did she have to lose?”
