Chapter 94 “You know how I really hate music?” Sayumi asked, walking back and forth slowly by the foot of the bed. “Well, there’s only one song in the world that I like. Do you want to know what it is?”
Silence answered her. After all, the only people in the room were the bunny and her panda friend, who was currently asleep. The constant beep of the heart rate machine resonated every couple seconds. Other than that, the room was rather quite whenever Sayumi stopped talking.
“Mariage D’amour,” the black-haired girl sighed, sitting down on the chair by the bed. “Do you remember? It’s that song you played for me when we first met. Don’t misunderstand; it’s not because
you played it or anything. But it has that sad tone to it, so I like it. I may actually start to listen to more piano songs from now on. Doesn’t that make you happy?”
Sayumi paused and stared at the sleeping girl’s face, her mouth covered with an oxygen mask. The younger girl smiled a little before taking the panda’s hand. It had been a week since the accident; Sayumi was able to walk around now, although her body was still weak compared to other people’s. However, Junjun hadn’t made much progress. But it was the bunny’s secret that sometimes, when she started talking, the older girl would squeeze her hand a little. It seemed like the biggest hope in the world that she would wake up.
“So you better wake up again,” the bunny mumbled. “You have to play piano for me and introduce to me to some other songs too. You better wake up…”
Suddenly, the beeping of the heart rate machine quickened. Sayumi looked up with an alarmed expression; the beeping got faster and faster until the waves changed from yellow to red.
“Somebody, help!” the young girl screamed. “She’s dying! Someone help!”
A doctor and two nurses rushed into the room with a cart after hearing her cries. The doctor checked the panda’s pulse and nodded at the nurse. The beeping ceased as the sound changed into a single tone; her heart had stopped.
“No, Junjun!” Sayumi screamed. “Please, help her! Please!”
“Please step away,” the doctor ordered. One of the nurses handed him two pads of metal. The doctor rubbed them together for a moment while the other nurse opened up the panda’s shirt. He placed the pads on each side of the patient’s chest.
“Clear,” one nurse announced.
A shock of electricity traveled through Junjun’s body, causing her to twitch a little. But her eyes still did not open and the tone of the heart rate box continued. Tears started to stream down the bunny’s cheeks as she covered her head with her hands. The doctor rubbed the two pads again and pressed it against the patient’s body.
“Clear.”
Another zap of electricity was sent out, but to no avail. Sayumi clenched her teeth as she tried to keep her whimpers to a minimum. The doctor rubbed the pads together again and placed it on Junjun’s chest.
“Clear.”
“If you love me, you have to wake up NOW!” Sayumi screamed.
A jolt of electricity shot through the panda again. The heart rate box’s tone got cut off with steady beeps again. The sound of air being sucked out of the oxygen tank was heard, and the doctor let out a sigh of relief.
“She… she’s okay?” the black-haired girl stuttered.
“Yes, her heart rate is back to normal,” one of the nurses confirmed.
“Yes…” the doctor agreed, looking at the machine with a curious expression. “It’s… too normal.” He gently placed a hand on the panda’s wrist. “… Junjun-san? Can you hear me?”
Sayumi’s eyes widened as gazed at her savior. She took her hand again and sat down by the bed.
“Junjun…?”
The patient’s eyelids flickered at the bunny’s voice. As Sayumi watched in awe as the older girl slowly opened her eyes. She breathed steadily as she turned a little to look at the girl next to her.
“Junjun…!” the younger girl breathed.
The panda’s expression didn’t change as she seemed to space out. However, Sayumi knew that Junjun was back… for the squeeze her hand was receiving was stronger than ever before.

Four girls dashed down the hallway without any desire to stop. The turtle got to the destination first, followed by her friend and the two idols. She pushed the door open and stared at the two people by the bed. She exhaled sharply as the bean next to her sighed in relief. The older singer grinned as her partner smiled smugly.
“Kamei-san, Gaki-san…” Junjun whispered softly, smiling. “And Takahashi-san and Tanaka-san too. Please come in.”
“I got your call, Sayumi,” Eri grinned, walking towards the bed with her friends. “Good to see you up again, Jun.”
“You look great,” Risa chimed in.
“There’s still some good in the world, huh?” Ai teased.
“I told you all, didn’t I?” Reina said, flipping her hair. “This girl won’t go down that easily.”
“Thank you, everyone,” Junjun chuckled.
The panda was sitting up, thanks to the bed being able to bend back and forth by remote-control. Sayumi was sitting on the foot of the bed, her hand still tightly locked around her savior’s. She stared down at the white sheets, expressionless and wordless.
“Isn’t this good, Sayu?” Eri asked. “Now you can repay her back.”
“I already did, so shut up, Eririn,” the bunny muttered. Her cheeks blushed into a soft pink.
“Yeah, um… she already did,” Junjun said, biting down on her lip while smiling.
“Wait a minute!” the turtle yelled. “Are you two already—”
“No, we’re not!” Sayumi interrupted. “Don’t say stupid things.”
“We’re really not, Kamei-san,” Junjun confirmed. “It was just an expression of gratitude, that’s all.”
“Well… I’m glad things are settled then,” Eri mumbled, stilling eyeing her cousin suspiciously. “I guess we really just came to see you again, Jun. Glad to see you up and talking.”
“Speaking of talking, I have something to say,” Junjun announced, turning serious. “Takahashi-san, Niigaki-san… I want to apologize for the trouble I’ve caused you. It was wrong of me to request such a thing to Gaki-san, and I realize my faults. Please forgive me.”
“Of course, Junjun,” Ai smiled. “You had your reasons for doing such things and I understand that. Anyway, it was kind of my fault too; I shouldn’t have let Risa go so easily like that. But you taught me how to be persistent in what I truly want… so thank you.”
“I think you’re the bravest one out of all of us, Junjun,” Risa grinned. “I respect you for that. Don’t worry about what happened, okay? Just concentrate on recovering now.”
“Thank you,” the panda smiled, touched by the kindness of the couple she had once come in between. “Thank you so much…”
“Well, we’ll get going then,” Eri sighed. “We all kind of ran out in the middle of work; it was a good thing Tsunku-san wasn’t with us in the room.”
“I would suggest getting back before he
does come to check on us, though,” Risa mumbled.
The four friends headed to the door and walked out of the room. Before closing the door, Eri gave a quick wave to her cousin and the pianist.
“You really do have nice friends, Shige-san,” Junjun sighed. “You’re very lucky.”
“I know that,” the bunny mumbled, “… now.”
“Better late than never,” Junjun grinned. She squeezed the hand of the girl she loved, allowing Sayumi to look up.
“Are you sure you’re okay with just staying like this?” the younger girl whispered. “You would still visit me and hang around me?”
“Of course I would,” Junjun said, matter-of-factly. “I can’t leave you no matter how much I try.”
“… You know I don’t love you.”
“I know.”
“And we’re not going out.”
“I know that too.” The panda smiled as she leaned in a little closer to the bunny. “But considering the way you gave me a kiss to repay me back before… Can I take that as allowing me to be a possible choice to you?”
“… Yes,” Sayumi said quietly, looking down. “You can think that.”
“Then I’ll wait for you,” Junjun grinned. “I’ll wait as long as it takes for you to realize I’m the one for you. But this time, I won’t just watch from the sidelines.”
With that, the panda stretched forward and kissed the younger girl’s lips, despite her surprise. She kissed her several times in an increasingly passionate way before slowly backing away. Sayumi’s eyes were wide for a moment, but then they narrowed.
“If you weren’t a patient right now,” she growled, “I would so slap you.”
“Then I’m pretty happy with my current status,” Junjun joked. “Maybe I should fall off buildings more often.”
“That wasn’t funny!” Sayumi yelled, getting up from the bed. She marched over to the door before the older girl stopped her.
“You’re leaving me?”
Sayumi paused for a while. But then, she turned around and slowly walked back to the patient and sat down on the chair by the bed. She crossed her arms and pouted.
“I owe you too much,” she grumbled. “Just go to sleep.”
“Will you be here when I wake up?”
“You have two hours.”
“Okay, then.”
Sayumi pressed the remote control to recline the bed back into its original position. Junjun closed her eyes and sighed contently. She licked her lips with a smile before drifting off to sleep, hoping to dream of that very sweet taste of the previous kiss.

Now aren't we all happy~

Btw, I myself am not taking part in this poll but I think TakaGaki and TanaKame are kind neck-to-neck now, aren't they?

I already have a couple possible storylines but the final choice depends on the final couple

keep the votes coming~ those who didn't vote yet
