[TV] Man v. Food
« on: July 31, 2010, 02:50:42 AM »

Man v. Food is an American food reality television series. It premiered on December 3, 2008 on the Travel Channel. The program is hosted by actor and food enthusiast Adam Richman. In each episode, Richman explores the "big food" offerings of a different American city before facing off against a pre-existing eating challenge at a local restaurant. The program currently airs two back-to-back episodes every Wednesday at 10:00PM and 10:30PM U.S. Eastern Time. Season 2 began airing on August 5, 2009 at 10:00PM EST. On June 16, 2010, Season 3 began airing with a one-hour run before the premiere of Bert the Conqueror.

Series host Adam Richman grew up in Brooklyn, New York, completed his undergraduate degree in International Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and earned a master's degree from the Yale School of Drama. A self-educated food expert, since 1995 he has kept a travel journal including each of the restaurants he visited and what he learned from the trip. Although described as "a bit on the husky side", to maintain his health while indulging for the show, Richman exercises twice a day while he's on the road. When the schedule permits, he does not eat the day before a challenge and he tries to stay "crazy hydrated" by drinking lots of water or club soda and forgoing coffee or soft drinks. After taping for a challenge is complete, Richman spends an hour or so on a treadmill, telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal, "Being sedentary is incredibly uncomfortable. [...] Despite the fact that the first 10 minutes or 15 minutes on the treadmill might suck, it actually does alleviate a lot of pressure, and you feel better.

I enjoy this show a lot!

He came to Minneapolis once, and went to a local restaurant that my family and I frequent a lot, The 5-8 Club, because of the rivalry between them and another restaurant over the Juicy Lucy (a hamburger made of two patties with cheese in the middle, so it's a big burger that oozes cheese).

... the Juicy Lucy is an amazing thing.

But it's a really fun show.

Holy crap...

‘Man vs. Food’ Host Adam Richman Sheds 60 Pounds
September 23, 2013 // 12:38 pm // By: Cameron Simcik

Adam Richman of Travel Channel’s Man Vs. Food is know for mastering the art of beasting. Travelling around the country attempting a variety of food challenges is one thing, but doing this episode after episode for four years is both impressive and slightly terrifying. Richman always took his duels like a champ, but all those burgers and pizzas and ghost pepper chicken wings must’ve taken a toll on his waistline… right?

Well, since filming MVF‘s final episode earlier this year, Richman has dropped a whopping 60 pounds. He’s eating much less dairy and white flour and has amped up his exercise, but we can’t help but think eliminating those three milkshakes + a pound of fries challenges had something to do with the loss.

Check out his transformation from 2011 to today:

Major kudos to the host for dropping that much weight the healthy way. I’d also like to take this opportunity to personally thank Richman for showing us how studly he looks in a suit and tie. Dayum.
