Dreams [Chapter Nine]
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:37:48 PM »
My procrastination problem has finally driven me to start writing XD. This is my first fanfic. The main focus will be on Berryz but other H!P groups will play important roles in the story. Sorry that this chapter doesn't really move the story along much  :sweatdrop:. I doubt that this fic will be even close to interesting until maybe a couple chapters in so please bear with me.  I'd love to get some constructive criticism so that my writing can improve with each chapter.  :welcome I feel I have a lot to learn ....

Chapter 1

Saki turned her head and slightly opened her eyes to glance at the clock that told her it was exactly two o ‘clock in the morning. She rolled over onto her stomach and hugged the pillow as her eyes tensed in an attempt to go back to sleep after soft noises had awoken her. She assumed the noises were just Chinami returning to the hotel room that they shared during Berryz concert tours. Saki made a mental note that, in the morning, she would lecture Chinami about staying up and out so late even if it was at another member’s room.

Just as Saki felt as if she was about to drift back to sleep, she heard noises again. They were louder than the first series that had awoken her and this time she could discern what the noises really were. Saki let out a slight groan before rolling out of the bed to shuffle towards the door.

“You know…. I almost feel like leaving you out here right now,” Saki said weakly with one hand on the doorknob and the other rubbing her eyes. She moved to allow space for the girl to walk in and continued rubbing her eyes lightly in an attempt to clear up her vision.

After a couple seconds of hesitation, the girl finally spoke. “I’m.. I’m sorry…go back to sleep Captain.” Saki stopped rubbing her eyes and looked up at the person that stood at the doorway. She realized that the person at the door was definitely not Chinami but, due to her senses being dull at the moment from just waking up, it took her several seconds before she realized what she had just said to them.

Saki, now fully awake from slight shock, hastily tried to make explanations to the girl standing at the doorway. “Oh Miya, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say that to you. I thought Chii had forgot her room key again.”

“So does that mean I can come in?”

“Of course” as she made a sweeping gesteur directing Miyabi to come in.

Miyabi laid down on the room’s only bed and tried to make herself comfortable but obviously looked everywhere except at Saki. Saki realized that she was seeing the shy side of Miyabi that only appeared whenever she was extremely nervous. She decided she would attempt to get Miyabi to relax. After Saki had jumped onto her own side of the bed and turned over to lay flat on her back in a similar position as Miyabi, Saki smiled. “Ehh Miya, I’m surprised you didn’t make any comments about what I said to you when I opened the door. No ‘How mean Captain’? No teasing? No quips? Nothing?”

Miyabi chuckled at that and became visibly more relaxed. Nobody could make Miyabi laugh like Saki could. “That’s a lucky talent you have, Captain. You’re able to make people laugh even when you’re not funny.”

“Thank you” Saki said as sarcastically as she could.

Miyabi laughed once again. “I haven’t said anything because I slightly want you to actually go through with your threat of leaving her outside one night.”

Saki laughed. “How mean, Miya.”

“What? At least I said ‘slightly.’ She’s taking up half my bed right now and I’m kind of grumpy that I woke up with a foot in my face.” Miyabi placed her palm in front of her face to emphasize her explanation.

“Wait… How did her foot end up near your head anyways?” Saki asked curiously.

“It actually wasn’t her foot… It was Risako’s” Miyabi explained while shaking her head at the memory of her rude awakening. Saki put a hand over her mouth in an attempt to stifle her laughter.

“Hey! It’s not funny. They took up the bed in the room that I was supposed to stay in alone.”

“Alright, alright. How about you just sleep here tonight?” Saki offered while still laughing in between sentences.

“As long as I don’t find anything in, on, or around my face when I wake up” Miyabi said with a slight frown.

“I promise I won’t kick you in the face” Saki laughed a bit before a silence ensued. She turned her head and giggled at the sight of Miyabi. Miyabi had fallen completely asleep in the same position they had been when they were talking except she was facing Saki now. She’s so cute when she’s sleeping. Saki lifted her right hand to brush a couple strands of hair out of Miyabi’s face, but stopped in mid-air when she realized that her left hand was holding Miyabi’s right hand. How long have I been holding her hand?

Saki dropped her right hand and tried to carefully move her hand without waking Miyabi. As soon as their hands parted, Miyabi turned her body towards Saki. “…Cap…tain…”

Saki giggled and sighed softly. “Sometimes I wish you would call me Saki-chan, Saki-tan, or maybe even just Saki,” she whispered as she brushed a few strands of hair behind Miyabi’s ear.

“….Sa…ki…”

Upon hearing Miyabi say her name, Saki’s eyes widened before her face lightened and a gentle smile appeared. She imagined that she would have trouble getting back to sleep if her heart didn’t calm down soon. She glanced at the digital clock beside the bed to see that half an hour had passed since she was first awakened by the soft noises. Was it her knocking that woke me up the first time? That’s impossible…There’s no way that we were talking for more than ten or fifteen minutes and there was at least a ten minute time laspe in between the noises. She turned her body towards Miyabi and looked at her for a second. Was she standing at the door the whole time? The gentle smile reappeared on Saki’s face and she took hold of Miyabi’s hand once again. Saki lightly placed her forehead against Miyabi’s forehead and whispered “Let’s meet in our dreams, Miya”

Dreams (Chapter Two)

I like to see MiyaSaki support . Decided to write this chapter while waiting to go out with friends. Sorry if it's confusing but then I kind of meant for it to be XD. I wonder if anybody can figure out what's going on. I just hope my writing style didn't make it more confusing.

Chapter 2

Saki opened her eyes and looked around her. She recognized that she was sitting on a hill near her home in Tokyo. It was somewhere she often went to relax whenever she had the chance. Questions started popping up in her head one by one as she stared off into the distance.

“Saki….Saaaakkiiiii…” Miyabi called. “Ahh…I think she died just now” she said jokingly as she started to wave her hand in front of Saki’s face.

Saki hadn’t even registered Miyabi’s presence until then. She grabbed Miyabi’s hand and lowered it. “Sorry Miya, just let me think for a bit”

Miyabi nodded and became silent. As Miyabi quietly observed the sunflower that stood alone in the field of flowers that surrounded the tree they were sitting under, Saki tried to figure out what was going on. The last thing she could remember was going back to sleep after letting Miyabi into the room. She could not remember anything that might have happened after that. It was now almost time for the sun to begin setting and they were somehow sitting in Tokyo. It didn’t make sense. No matter how stressed she may have been, it was impossible that she would have lost all of her memory about the day. It was impossible that she forgot about the concert they should have had that day and about getting on the train to return to Tokyo. She took another look around her and remembered that she had just silenced Miyabi. She decided she would try to figure things out later and deal with Miyabi first.

“Miya, shouldn’t you be getting home? It’s getting late. I’ll walk you to the train station.” Saki said.

“It’s alright, Saki. I want to stay for a bit longer” Miyabi turned her head to see Saki looking at her. Miyabi quickly lowered her head in an attempt to hide her reddened face.

Saki continued to look at Miyabi for a couple more seconds while she admired the girl’s features. She suddenly realized that she was still holding Miyabi’s hand and what Miyabi had just said. “Wait…did you just call me ‘Saki’?” she asked as hope started building in her.

Miyabi blushed harder. “Didn’t you say that you wanted me to?” she asked hesitantly.

“You heard me? I thought you were asleep.” This time it was Saki’s turn to blush.

“Umm, didn’t you say it just now? Are you okay? There’s no way I was sleeping while we were walking here from your house. I think the only person that can move that much in their sleep is Risako.”

Saki was even more confused now. She decided she would ask Miyabi what was going on even though she was slightly nervous that the girl would start worrying too much about her after she asked. Saki lightly squeezed Miyabi’s hand. “Miya, what’s going on? I don’t remember anything about today. The only time I remember telling you to call me by my name was when you were asleep on the bed in the hotel room.” She spoke slowly and tried to keep as much emotion out of her voice as possible. Unfortunately, Miyabi noticed that Saki’s eyes looked as if they were full of fear and confusion.

Miyabi had never seen Saki like this before. Even when she was stressed or nervous, Saki seemed to be able to calm herself after maybe a few exclamations.

“Please Miya, can you just tell me what we’ve been doing all day? What I have done today?” Saki asked pleadingly.

Miyabi started backtracking in her memories but could not remember anything other than the walk with Saki to the hill they were now sitting on. “What’s going on? Why don’t I remember anything about today either?” Miyabi asked as fear began to build up in her as well. Her head was beginning to feel clouded and the pressure was building as she continued trying to access her memories.

Saki began to feel the same pain in her head as well. They both tightened the grips on each other’s hand while their free hands were pressed at the temples of their heads. The pressure worsened to the point where they could no longer think about anything besides the pain. After several more seconds of unbearable pain, Saki and Miyabi collapsed simultaneously.

Both girls opened their eye wide and started breathing heavily as if they had just been through an extreme workout. They lay still on the bed in the hotel room and were dripping in cold sweat. They turned their heads to look questioningly into each other’s eyes. Miyabi was the first to speak. “What just happened?” she swallowed and took a deep breath.

“I don’t know” Saki replied. She glanced at the clock to see that it was only several minutes past four in the morning. So things seem to be back to normal. She then realized that they had both been shaking from shock since they had awakened. Well, good enough... at least my head doesn't feel like it's going to implode anymore.

“….Captain…” Miyabi called after a brief silence.

Saki took a deep breath to finish her recovery and turned back to face Miyabi. She pouted a bit when she realized what Miyabi had called her. Saki smiled and tightened her grip on Miyabi’s hand in an attempt to comfort both Miyabi and herself. It seems they hadn’t let go of each other since they had gone to sleep. “It’s alright. We were just…. dreaming”

@abok Chii and Rii aren't that mean since they all fell asleep. At least Risako didn't kick Miya in the face on purpose  XD

@kano-chan For some reason, I think my brain is constantly screaming "Kyaa~!" when I'm writing this fic.

@ayase There's not enough Berryz fanfics so I decided to just write one myself. Although I think I forgot to add a couple things in the first two chapters <-- not a very good writer + I get distracted easily by my own ideas  :sweatdrop: I think you'll like the next chapter. Well, at least the end of it anyways.

@rndmnwierd  :D We'll see what happens. I guess I should warn you that I like to mess with different pairings.  :yep:

Chapter 3

“Dreaming?” Miyabi mumbled. She stared at the ceiling as she tried to make sense of what happened. Miyabi rarely remembered her dreams but this one was extremely vivid. It felt as though it had really happened. The pain had felt especially real. Her body began to tense at the memory of feeling like her head was splitting apart.

“Miya, you’re cutting off all blood circulation through my hand” Saki said as she stared at her hand that was starting to feel numb. Miyabi looked down and remembered that they were holding hands. She immediately released her Captain’s hand and gasped a bit. Saki’s hand looked red and was slowly returning to her naturally pale skin color as blood started flowing through her hand once again. Even so, Saki slightly regret that she had said anything. If she had endured a little bit longer, she may have been able to continue holding the younger girl’s hand. Miyabi started to apologize furiously but Saki just smiled at her while staying completely silent.

“Oi, why are you smiling? It means you forgive me right?” Miyabi asked as she stared curiously at Saki.

“Nothing.” Saki refused to let the girl know that she thought she was just too cute at that moment. “Maybe I forgive you, maybe not.” She laughed when she noticed Miyabi was giving her a slight glare for saying that. Saki always enjoyed spending time with Miyabi and it was fun to tease her sometimes. It felt comfortable to be around her, it was the same even in her dream. She then remembered that she still had to completely figure out what happened. Miyabi had heard her and they actually met in their dreams. At least she thought they did. They had awoken at the exact same moment after all. Even so, Saki decided to find out about Miyabi’s thoughts. She looked at the girl whose glare had become sharper in the time Saki had been deep in thought. Saki couldn’t help but laugh again. “Alright, alright. How about this? I’ll forgive you if you tell me about your dream.”

Miyabi’s glare subsided into a stare with her eyebrows raised. After a slight pause, she began to explain. “I rarely dream. Well, I rarely remember my dreams. But this time I remember every detail”

“Is that so? I forgot you’ve told me before that you don’t dream much. So what happened in your dream?” Saki asked.

“I walked with you down from your house to some hill and we just talked. It was really pretty but weird. The hill overlooked a field of flowers where there was a really tall sunflower in the middle of a sea of blue flowers. This place seemed kind of familiar but I don’t really remember being in a place like this before. Well, it was just a dream I guess.” Miyabi shrugged and continued to describe her dream. “After a while, you asked me about what happened that day and, when I tried to remember, my head started hurting until we woke up”

“So we actually met in our dreams,” Saki said.

“Isn’t that a bit impossible? Are you sure you’re not just still in shock from a nightmare, Captain?” Miyabi explained as she began to worry about Saki’s condition. She even started wondering if cutting off the blood circulation in Saki’s hand could mess with the blood flow in her head.

“No, I’m sure. Our dreams were exactly the same except for the walk to the hill but I think that would be because I fell asleep after you.”

After a bit of thought, Miyabi decided she would just trust her Captain. She was older and usually a lot calmer than Miyabi.  “I guess I’ll just take your explanation about this since everything is a little too weird. I don’t have any better explanation anyways.”

Saki now had no doubts that they had the same dream. She was happy that her wish actually came true but was disappointed that Miyabi didn’t recognize the location the dream was set at. Saki decided she would give some information to Miyabi about the place in hopes that it would trigger some memories. “Miya…You really don’t recognize the place in your dream? We went there all the time when you still visited me.”

Miyabi was slightly afraid that attempting to consciously recall memories would make her feel that pain again. After a few seconds, her curiousity overpowered her fear and she tried to remember the place. “Ahh! That’s right. I remember now. We did go there a lot, didn’t we? We even planted that sunflower there together. We had a lot of good times there.”

Saki, for some reason, was now even more disappointed than when Miyabi had no recollection at all about the place. Even so, she forced a smile on her face and decided to continue dropping hints to Miyabi. “I’m glad you remember the sunflower. Do you remember anything important about the sunflower?”

As Miyabi’s eyes widened in realization, Saki thought Miyabi had finally remembered what she wanted her to. Miyabi exclaimed, “Oh crap…. nobody has been taking care of the sunflower since I haven’t visited you in so long. I’m really sorry. I’ve just been too busy lately.”

Saki felt as though somebody had just stabbed her in her heart. She thought that even the feeling that her head would implode felt better than what she was feeling at that moment. She doesn’t remember…

Saki forced a laugh and decided to change the subject. “It’s alright. I forgot about the sunflower for a while too. The one that we planted died but there seems to be new ones growing. I’m taking care of those now. And you have been busy with work, school and other things. Since I doubt either of us can go back to sleep, why don’t we just talk until we’re supposed to get ready.”

“You’re right. I don’t think I want to go back to sleep.”

“I’m surprised you were able to sleep before without your precious baby blankie” Saki teased.

“Hey! Don’t make me tell the other members about the time I found Maimi giving you a piggyback ride.” Miyabi retaliated. She realized Saki was right though. She could not imagine how it would have looked if somebody caught her walking around the hotel carrying it so she had left it behind. It was odd that she was able to fall asleep so easily even though she had left her little blanket in her own hotel room. She suddenly realized something else. She wondered why both Chinami and Risako sleeping in her bed when Saki was in here sleeping alone. Miyabi thought Chinami would want to take advantage of being assigned to room with Saki. She thought Chinami and Risako both liked her even though she had told them before that Saki likes Maimi. They were almost always around whenever she was with Saki even when she went to visit Saki. The only times they weren’t around were when they had work to do or when Saki and her went to the place from their dreams. The hill and flower field had been their personal haven and was the only place Saki and Miyabi could be truly alone together. I feel like I’m forgetting something important…

“Hey Miya…. are you alright?” Saki asked as she repeatedly poked Miyabi’s cheeks.

Miyabi pushed her thoughts aside as she rubbed her cheeks where she was poked. “I thought you promised that you wouldn’t do anything like that”

“No. I promised I wouldn’t kick you in the face.” Saki grinned.

“Ehhhh, so that’s how it is?” Miyabi laughed.

“I had to find some way to bring you back down to Earth. You just totally spaced out on me.”

“Sorry, just got lost in some thoughts. What were you saying?”

Saki sighed and smiled as she told Miyabi, “It’s alright. You don’t need to know what I would do to you if you ever told anybody that Maimi gave me a piggyback ride.”

“Ehhhhhhh. You’re scary, Captain”

“I can be so be careful now, Miya” Saki said jokingly. “So let’s start catching up. How are things between you and your little kappa?”

“Why is it that you want to start with that?” Miyabi laughed. “Things are fine except I think she’s slightly taller than me now. I really am sorry I haven’t visited you lately, Captain.”

“It’s okay. You’ve been busy. You’ve probably even had to struggle to find time to visit your girlfriend.” Saki said as she secretly regret bringing up Miyabi’s relationship. She quickly changed the subject. “So how’s school been lately?”

They continued conversing enjoyably until it was time to get ready. The few hours they had spent together were full of laughs and nostalgia. Even so, Saki could not help but think about the dream. She would have to ask somebody about sharing dreams.  As Miyabi got up to return to her room, Saki decided that the first thing she would do when she returned to Tokyo was visit the sunflowers. Saki got up to walk Miyabi to the door. She opened the door and told Miyabi, “You should visit me sometime. We can go to the ‘Sea of Dreams’”

“So that’s what we’re going to call it now? Well I guess it’s better than calling it the field or the hill all the time.” Miyabi stepped out into the hotel hallway and was about to agree to visit when she heard somebody screaming her name from the elevator down the hall.

“Miya~~~!!” the girl called as she skipped down the hall and took Miyabi’s hand.

Miyabi shushed the girl and lightly pushed her head with her free hand while laughing softly. “Airin, you’re going to wake everybody in this hotel up. Aren’t kappas supposed to be poilite?”

“Gomenrinko~” the girl replied and kissed Miyabi on the cheek.

Miyabi smiled at the girl and then remembered that they were standing in front of Saki’s room. “I’ll see you in a bit, Captain. I should go kick Chii and Rii-chan out of my room now.”

“See you then” Saki replied as Miyabi took her leave with Airi. She couldn't help but watch them as they walked away hand in hand.

“You know Miya. I think I should teach you how to be more polite,” Airi said as she put her head on Miyabi’s shoulder.

“And I should teach you how to be funnier. Oh well. I guess it just makes you cuter, my little kappa” Miyabi said as she grinned.

So Saki and Miya shared a dream? kinda weird but a cool idea.

Miya and Saki seem to be really close, I wonder what the importance of the sunflowers are, it obviously means alot to Saki, who seemes to want more than to be freinds with Miya and it seems as though Miya never realized it :banghead:

I wonder what the story behind Miya and Airi being together is?

Dreams [Chapter Four]

@ayase Can I count that comment as an approval? XD

@oddball I promise that it gets weirder :) Well, I explained part of the sunflowers in this next chapter.

@rndmnwierd  Sorry, I was brainwashed by the Take It Easy! Jacket Making of. I warned you that I like to mess with pairings.

@abok I like to make the girls work for each other.  :D

I think I got kind of mad at myself after writing this chapter because of the pace of the story. Hopefully you guys forgive me for for the slow plot development. I'm getting a headache from looking for a book for one of my English papers. Can anybody recommend a literature book I can read and write about? Here's the next chapter. Nobody is going to kill me for this chapter right?

Chapter 4

Airi shifted to hug Miyabi around the waist as Miyabi opened the door to her room. The sight that they were met with when they got to the foot of the bed amused Miyabi. Chinami was sleeping at the edge of the bed with her back facing the wall and her arms around Risako. The younger girl had her legs slightly curled up and was snuggling into the older girl’s arms in an unconscious attempt to get comfortable.

“Wow, I’m surprised that Chii hasn’t fallen off the bed yet and I’m even more surprised that Rii-chan hasn’t accidentally pushed her off the bed. ” Miyabi said as she heard Airi giggle from behind her.

Risako started stirring at the sound of Miyabi’s voice. She slowly opened her eyes and realized she had been sleeping in somebody’s embrace. She raised her head to try to see who it was but ended up hitting Chinami’s chin on accident. The impact forced Chinami to release Risako and fall off the bed as she tried to turn onto her back.

Miyabi and Airi started to help Chinami up as Risako started to apoligize furiously to her and asked if she was okay. Chinami screamed “Itai!” a couple times as she rubbed her chin and back. After Risako apologized a few more times, Chinami started laughing. “Weren’t you sleeping next to Rii-chan, Miya? Why am I the one that got hit so early in the morning?”

“I already got kicked in the face last night” Miyabi gave Risako a short glare, which was met with the girl tilting her head in confusion. Miyabi started to explain. “I heard Risako fall off the bed last night. I was about to go back to sleep when I felt a foot against my face. Do you know how many times I washed my face after that? I’m surprised you were sleeping in a somewhat normal position on the bed and you looked so peaceful in Chinami’s arms when the two of us came in.”

Both Risako and Chinami blushed, but started laughing uncontrolablly when they imagined what Risako had done last night. “Sorry Miya. So that’s what I was pushing on when I was stretching a bit. I probably ended up sleeping the wrong way when I got back on. Sorry. Wait, did you say ‘the two of us’ just now?”

Airi put her chin on Miyabi’s shoulder as she continued to hug Miyabi’s waist from behind. She gave Risako a toothy smile and said, “Morning, Rii-chan. What happened to taking care of Miya for me? ”

“Airin! Why are you here?” Risako exclaimed in joy.

“I asked our manager if I could come observe you all rehearse for the Maji Bomber release event since it was nearby and they needed an hour or two to fix some equipment that malfunctioned during the photoshoot for a magazine. I got Maimi to come with me, too…Ah! I just realized I left Maimi behind in the elevator when I saw Miya.”

“I guess Captain won’t be alone for long then” Miyabi grinned. She felt a twinge of sadness at what she had just implied but shrugged it off as guilt for basically ignoring Saki after Airi had shown up.

“Wait, you said the two of you came in. Were you coming from Captain’s room?” Risako asked.

“Yeah, I went to sleep with her since you two forced me out of my bed.” Miyabi said. Risako and Chinami noticed Airi hug Miyabi closer after hearing that but Miyabi didn’t seem to notice.

“We’ll go back to our rooms now and leave you two alone. See you later.” Risako said as she pulled Chinami out of the room.

“It’s been a while since we were alone like this” Airi whispered once she heard the door click close.

Miyabi laughed. “The last time was at the Buono! Anniversary concert. It’s only been a couple days, Airin.”

“Yeah, but I’m going to be busy soon with C-ute rehearsals for our concert tour. We probably won’t be able to meet for a long time.” Airi pouted.

Miyabi released herself from Airi’s hug and turned to face her. “We’ll just have to make up for the time we’ll be apart then,” Miyabi said as she leaned in to kiss her girlfriend.

Risako closed the door to Miyabi’s room and started walking down the hall after releasing Chinami. After Risako had only taken a couple steps, Chinami went to pull her to a stop. “Are you alright? I know you like Miyabi.”

“I did like her, but I decided a long time ago that I would support her and Airi Besides… I like somebody else now.” Risako answered. Risako had given up Miyabi ever since Airi had told her that she liked Miyabi. She had done everything she could to try to get them together. Her most important task was keeping Saki busy so that Miyabi and Airi would have alone time. While doing this, Risako got closer and closer to her Captain until she couldn’t help but fall in love with her. Unfortunately, Risako had not realized that Saki loved Miyabi until she had seen her crying after watching Buono! perform at the first Winter Shuffle Date concert. It was then that Risako had sworn to heal the heart that she helped break.

“Is that so? Since you seem fine, I guess I’ll go back to my room. I hope Captain is okay. Everybody except Miya can tell that Captain loves her more than just a friend. I should have been the one sleeping beside Captain last night. Why did we have to fall asleep in Miya’s room? … By the way, why were you walking this way? Isn’t your room right next to Miya’s in the other direction?” Chinami pointed in the direction of Risako’s room.

“Is it a crime to visit our Captain?” Risako said as she started walking again in an attempt to hide her blushing.

“Fine, we can tell her how you woke me up this morning. She’ll have a good laugh at that and maybe she’ll help me think of a way to stop you from being so weird when you’re sleepy.” Chinami said only half-jokingly. She was still angry at herself and Risako for accidentally forcing Miyabi into sleeping with Saki. She was especially angry with Risako for dragging her away from the room that she shared with Saki even after both Saki and her had rejected Risako’s suggestion of hanging out in Miyabi’s room. Even so, her worry for their Captain was the primary emotion that filled her at that moment. Chinami’s admiration for her Captain was immense and, over time, had grown into love. She had been there with Risako when they found Saki crying. Similar to Risako, Chinami had sworn that she would do whatever it took to make Saki happy.

Once Risako and Chinami reached the room, they found that Saki had already left. Shortly after Miyabi and Airi had returned to Miyabi’s room, Maimi had gone up to Saki and asked her to take a walk with her. As they walked around the hotel lobby, Saki told Maimi about everything that had happened last night. “Is it normal for people to share dreams?” Maimi asked.

“Of course it’s not normal. That’s why I’m asking if you know anything about what happened to Miya and me.”

“Is it really that important?”

“I don’t know if it’s important but I can’t get it off my mind so I have to investigate.”

“…You havent moved on from Miyabi, have you?” Maimi asked as they made their way to the elevator.

“She’s not the reason why I want to investigate… and I had moved on.” Saki said as she pushed a button and waited for the elevator. “At least I thought I had until last night. I was even able to start growing new sunflowers at the Sea of Dreams. It’s too bad the one I planted with Miyabi died.”

To Saki, the sunflower she planted with Miyabi had been a symbol of their love. Unfortunately, that sunflower had died after being drowned in tears. It had drowned in Saki’s tears of anger, tears of sadness, and, most of all, tears of regret. In her mind, Saki laughed sadly at the irony of what she had named the place. A sunflower drowning from tears in the midst of a Sea of Dreams.

“And what about you and your love life?”

“What?” Maimi asked in confusion.

“Are you alright with Miyabi and her being together?”

“For some reason, I feel like running away everytime I see them together. I guess I’m just not used to seeing my friends date each other.” Maimi replied.

Saki knew that wasn’t really the case. Saki saw the way Maimi looked at Airi and noticed the little things that Maimi would do just to make Airi smile. Saki had always noticed how much Maimi loved Airi. Maimi was just too dense to realize it and it was too late now anyways.

“Well, I really have no idea about your dream. One of the senpai might know something. I can at least try talking to Takahashi-san about it since she was at the photoshoot and might still be there when I go back.” Maimi said as she checked her phone. “Our manager just sent me a text message telling me to get Airi and go back to the venue. Too bad we won’t be able to watch you all rehearse.”

“It’s fine and thanks, Maimi.” Saki responded as she stepped into the elevator that had finally arrived.

Soon, all the Berryz members gathered in the lobby and got on the bus that would take them to Yokohama BLITZ where the events would be held. The rehearsal and actual performances were perfect aside from a few minor mistakes. Throughout the day, Saki felt as if anytime she turned around she would be met with stares. Saki thought that Risako, Chinami, and, most importantly, Miyabi had all clung on to her today. It didn’t help that everytime she made eye contact with Miyabi she would start thinking about their dream again and end up staring back.

Everybody was on their way out to get back on the bus to return to the hotel but Saki, who was trailing behind the group, was pulled aside before she reached the exit. “Takahashi-san, it’s good to see you but I have to leave before I get in trouble.”

“Don’t worry about it. I already talked to your manager. She’ll take care of things. Maimi told me about what happened last night…We need to talk.” Ai said as a smile spread across her face.

“I guess Captain won’t be alone for long then” Miyabi grinned. She felt a twinge of sadness at what she had just implied but shrugged it off as guilt for basically ignoring Saki after Airi had shown up.

So Chii and Rii Both love Saki?!? I wonder how these two will play off against each other as the story goes on.

Airi got all defensive when she found out that Miya slept in Saki's room (When she hugged Miya tighter) does she think that perhaps Miya may like Saki more than her?

So Maimi likes Airi and Saki knows but then Maimi knows that Saki has never gotten over Miyabi.

The sea of dreams and this sunflower must be important, is the fact that they are sharing dreams with the sunflowers blooming telling them they should be together I wonder or is there something else they need to know?

I wonder if Miya has trully forgotten about the importance of the place in the dream or is she just unwilling to talk about it with Saki?

What does Ai-chan want to talk about, I wonder what she knows...

Questions,questions.....

@rndmnwierd That would just be some messed up blob.  XD I promise that the romance won't get more complicated...  :banghead: We'll see what happens.   :D

@abok I think writing about the sunflower made me feel a bit sadistic. I'm hoping you think this chapter is interesting  :yep:

@oddball  :thumbsup I like questions. They keep me focused and actually make me remember my ideas. Let's see if you can find the answers to some of your questions in this chapter.

:sweatdrop: I hope this chapter is actually interesting and doesn't just make your brain want to explode. I finally did some explaining although it probably won't explain what happened specifically until the next chapter.

Chapter 5

Saki thought something was different about her senpai tonight. Tonight, Ai’s smile could have been called charming. There was a calming and irresistable aura that Ai seemed to radiate tonight. There was a sense of knowing in Ai’s eyes. Maybe even a hint of pride. Had Saki done anything that would make Ai proud of her? She couldn’t remember doing anything significantly different lately. She was eager to find out what secrets Ai held. Saki decided she would go along with the girl for now, but was still wary since she was basically being abducted.

Ai led her to a taxi that was waiting just outside of an alternative exit. As the taxi began to move, Saki began to wonder when Ai would start actually explaining everything. “Should I even ask where you’re taking me?” Saki asked.

“It’s best if you don’t ask any questions for the time being. Actually, it’s best if you don’t talk at all for now. When the time comes, I’ll explain about this and so much more.” Ai replied.

As Ai began smiling once again, Saki became silent. That smile was actually starting to scare Saki a bit. The car rounded a corner and Saki realized where they were when they pulled to a stop in front of a building. Would Ai go through all this trouble just to take Saki back to the hotel? She had already been heading there when Ai had stopped her from getting to the bus.

Ai got out of the car and gestured for Saki to follow her. Saki slid out of the taxi and they started walking towards the hotel. Saki had just begun thinking that this was getting ridiculous when Ai veered away from the entrance of the hotel. Saki followed Ai closely through a dimly lit alleyway and into a back door of the hotel. Saki wondered if this was all really necessary. She wasn’t accidentally getting involved in some illegal transactions, was she?

They walked through the hotel kitchen where everybody seemed busy preparing for a banquet that evening. Saki and Ai were stopped once but were escorted to an employee elevator by one of the chefs that had recognized them. Ai led Saki to a room on the third floor and opened the door with a room key she pulled out from her jacket pocket. Ai took a seat on the bed and patted the spot next to her to tell Saki to sit beside her. Saki opened her mouth to ask for an explanation but Ai started talking before she could get her question out. “Yes, I’ll explain everything soon. But first, I need you to do something and you need to trust me.”

Saki nodded slowly.

“Just to let you know, this room is located right below your room. I’ve asked your manager to let me take care of you tonight and to make sure that all Berryz members gather in your room and sleep there until I call her. Why? Because what we’re going to do tonight requires them nearby and this is the closest we will be able to get to them without them getting freaked out. Don’t worry though. The reason I’m here is to be your guide for the night. I totally feel like a badass senpai right now.” Ai laughed before scratching her head as she thought about what to do next.

“Hmm, I guess we shouldn’t start with Miyabi-chan. Her subconscious is probably still on high alert from what happened last night. Maybe Momoko-chan would be an easier target. We’ll start with her then. Alright, lay down so you won’t hurt yourself while we’re doing this.” Ai said while Saki blinked in confusion but did as she was told.

“Listen very carefully and don’t do anything until I tell you to. Close your eyes and try to clear everything from your mind. Relax and take deep breaths. You need to literally think of nothing. It might feel strange but you have to keep at it. Once you’ve done that, you need to visualize the target. In this case, you have to visualize Tsugunaga Momoko. Even while visualizing your target, you have to keep your mind blank. Only focus on the image of the target and nothing else. It takes a lot of practice to perfect this skill so it might take you a while.  That is all that I will tell you for now. I promise I’ll be with you for the duration of our task. Let’s begin. Be careful not to let your mind wander.”

Saki had so many questions running through her head at that point that she thought it would be hard to clear her mind but she knew she had to if she wanted to know what was going on. She closed her eyes and started to take deep breaths. She visualized a pure white world, a blank world. She was beginning to feel light-headed when she remembered the second part of her task. Saki started visualizing Momoko. She started to imagine her from the head down. She focused on the image of Momoko standing in the middle of nothing.

Ai stared at the ceiling while making random faces in boredom as she waited for her turn to perform the task. After several minutes she turned to see Saki had fallen asleep. She smiled and laid down to begin clearing her own mind.

Saki looked around her and her jaw dropped at seeing her standing at the gates of an extravagant castle. There was a couple hundred meters of a lush field of grass surrounding the castle but beyond the grass was blank. Saki began walking through the field and stopped right at the border between the grass and the pure white of nothingness. She looked forward and, beyond several hundred meters of nothingness, there was a stage. She recognized it as the stage that they had performed on at Saitama Super Arena in 2007. She wanted to go there and check it out. She was about to take a step into the white area when Ai appeared before her side and grabbed her wrist.

“Didn’t I tell you not to let your mind wander?” Ai sighed in relief of stopping the girl in time.

“What’s going on? Where are we?” Saki asked as she looked from the stage to the castle.

“This would be Tsugunaga Momoko’s dream and you would have fallen into one of the blank spots of her mind right now if I hadn’t stopped you. There’s a lot you need to know so it’s better if you don’t ask too many questions until I’m done talking. Alright?”

Saki thought for a second before nodding in agreement.

“Good, now where should I start? Well, first off, you didn’t share a dream with Natsuyaki-chan yesterday. You actually entered her dream. I always thought that I was the only person in Hello!Project that currently has the power to do something like this. I’m impressed at the fact that you triggered the power yourself.” Ai explained as the glint of pride returned in her eyes.

“This power is something that has been handed down among Morning Musume leaders ever since the 4th generation was introduced. I didn’t know you had it too until Maimi told me about last night. I asked Tsunku-san and he confirmed that he had bestowed the power on both you and Maimi. The leaders often used it to figure out the characteristics of the new members and find ways to maintain the mental health of members.”

“So they would change the dreams of the members?” Saki was appalled at the thought of messing with another person’s mind.

“No, they would try to find either sources of turmoil or ways to appease the member. We do not have the power to manipulate any physical aspects of the dream. Only the dreamer can do that. For example, this whole realm of dreams is Momoko-chan’s so only she has the power to change the landscape. The only thing we can do is navigate through the dreams. Hence the reason the power bestowed upon Hello!Project leaders is called Navigation. We can only interact with others in the dream by consciously taking up our roles in her dreams or else we wander as observing outsiders. But if we ever do anything that the dreamer’s subconscious finds threathening, the subconscious will act as a guardian and attempt to knock you out of the dream. I’m sure that’s the reason you two woke up in such a panic yesterday.” Ai said as she took a seat at the edge of castle landscape with her legs dangling in the whiteness. She decided to pause for a bit to allow Saki to take in everything.

Saki’s head was reeling from the mass of information that had just been introduced to her. She took a seat beside Ai and stared down into the endless whiteness below their feet. “So if we’re in Momo’s dream right now, what is that over there?” Saki asked as she looked up and pointed at the stage the lay beyond the whiteness.

“Since I doubt that would be a surpressed or repressed memory, that’s probably just a precious or recent memory. We ended up here at the castle because this is her dream at the moment, there should be some memories around. You just have to take a bit of a walk through Momoko-chan’s mind to find them. Unless Momoko-chan changes the location of her dream, you have to forge your own path so that you won’t fall into the blank spots of her mind. Be careful though, I don’t know what would happen if you actually fell.” Ai looked intently at Saki as she warned her. She didn’t want to imagine what would have happen to her kouhai if she hadn’t grabbed her wrist earlier.

“I think it’s time we left. I don't want to know what Momoko-chan's dream would be after she finishes playing in the castle. Just close your eyes and try to visualize where you are in the real world. I’ll leave here after you wake up”

Once Saki and Ai had left the dream, a figure walked into the spotlight at the center of the stage. The figure stood in the spotlight as they watched the pieces of the stage dream crumble around them and fall to the depths of Momoko’s mind. In a voice lacking emotion, the figure spoke. "A new Navigator has appeared..."

Tsunku gave the leaders this power? How? And who is that mysterious creepy person!?

And just what is Momo dreaming about?
