Chapter 41 “Look at her, pathetically staring outside like that. She’s finally getting what she deserves.”
Don’t listen to them, Sayumi. Just ignore them and stay cool… “She probably thought she was something special to Junjun. How stupid.”
Don’t spare your time to even turn around to look at them. It’s not worth it. “She’s so stuck-up. She doesn’t even have any friends yet she acts like she’s a princess or something. Serves her right to be rejected by Junjun like that.”
Just breathe in the air and relax… Sayumi inhaled deeply as she continued to stare out the open window in the hallway. At first, she had just been looking out but eventually, she started sticking her head out more and more to ignore the gossipy comments being made about her by other girls. The way Sayumi had grabbed Junjun that morning had already spread through the entire school by lunch time, making it hard for the bunny to get through the line in the cafeteria without someone wanting to trip her. So she just gave up before someone could dump garbage on her or do something of that sort. After all, Junjun wasn’t going to be there to save her this time.
The pale-skinned girl breathed in and out steadily, as she stared at the courtyard below. Students were gathered in cliques, eating lunch and chatting with each other. The other girls who were eating in the classrooms were busy gossiping about the antisocial new girl and how big-headed she was to grab Junjun the way she did.
“It took long enough for her to be dumped. Junjun’s done playing with her.”
Stop saying that. I have feelings too, you know. “Technically, she wasn’t dumped because they were never together in the first place. It was all in her head.”
That’s a lie! I wasn’t the only one who felt that way towards her… that… “I guess you’re right.”
More laughter came from behind Sayumi, who was starting to fume more than breathe. After she had cried in the bathroom that morning, she had come out with a straight face, to reveal no signs of weakness. But the truth was, she was in pain. She had realized her true feelings for the yankii leader, only it was too late. If she had realized it was love earlier on, would things have been different?
“I guess Junjun just felt bad for her before, since she had no friends. But there’s a reason why that girl doesn’t have friends.”
Do you know how hard it is to fit in at a new school? Especially when we’re already this old? This isn’t like kindergarten! “Aika and Linlin aren’t talking to her anymore either. I guess it’s tiring to pretend to be nice to someone so mean.”
That’s a lie! They were the first people in the world that I felt comfortable with, and they liked me too! They liked me for who I am… and not even my parents did that. “She’s finished. Her social life is over now.”
“Did she have any in the first place?”
More laughter. More whispers. More pain. Sayumi couldn’t tell which one was the worst. Not that she had to choose, since they were all coming at her at the same time like darts.
What could she do now? The first person who had become her friend, her family, her love… that person was drifting away. Was it already too late? Was there absolutely no way to mend this relationship? Junjun had said such mean things to her in the morning, words that meant total rejection. Completely opposite of love, much less friendship.
“Hey, look! Junjun, Aika, and Linlin are in the courtyard!”
Sayumi’s head dropped down as her eyes started to scan the benches, the trees, the grass. A small crowd was already forming around the gang, girls like pecking chickens who are only eager to make a good impression. They were merely admirers, people who regarded Junjun as a queen who was meant to be watched, not touched. She was too superior for that. But that wasn’t what Sayumi wanted. She wanted to be closer. She wanted to mean something more.
She bit down on her lips and clenched her fists. Amidst the squealing and the giggling, the bunny turned and started to run down the hallway. She had to get closer to Junjun somehow. She didn’t want to give up like this. Nothing in her life before had motivated her this much, since she practically got anything and everything she wanted since she was little. Now, it was time to earn what she desired.
The commotion grew louder in the courtyard. Before she could run down the stairs, Sayumi turned and quickly looked out the window again. The crowd was pretty immense now. They were probably thinking they could be the next girl to be taken into Junjun’s arms. Even if she made it downstairs, Sayumi realized she would never be able to get close enough to the panda to talk to her clearly with all the girls buzzing around the gang. The black-haired girl started to run the other way and poked her head out another window.
There’s got to be a way… When Sayumi lifted her head, something else besides the courtyard below caught her eye. In front of her was an enormous tree that was about the height of the school building itself. The bunny’s memories traveled back to the time when the yankii leader had saved her from the garbage-dumping bullies. Junjun had swung down by this tree to get to the ground faster. It was also where she had cut her palm which led to the bunny band-aids…
I can’t believe I’m going to do this… Taking a deep breath, Sayumi clenched her teeth. She carefully put her feet up on the ledge and balanced herself. She could hear the alarmed whispers behind her, calling her crazy and made and whatever other synonyms they could think of. This was the only time Sayumi could actually agree with them.
One… Two… Three! After the silent countdown, Sayumi jumped out as far as she could and reached out for the largest tree branch that extended out. She managed to hook her arms onto the branch and pulled herself up on top of it. Then, she hugged the trunk as she carefully started to stand up. She was pretty proud of herself that she had actually gotten this far without falling. Everybody who knew her was aware of how she was sports-impaired.
Stay brave, Sayumi! You can do this! This is for Junjun… because she’s the only one who bothered to get to know the real you. That’s love… the love of the only person you can think of… “JUNJUN!” Sayumi screamed in her loudest voice.
Everybody courtyard looked up. Some screamed, some gasped, some were too shocked to speak. After all, it wasn’t everyday they saw a girl jump on a tree to get attention. Sayumi fidgeted a bit, nervous with all the eyes on her. But specifically, it was because of a certain pair of brown eyes that was watching her with slight surprise. As she bit down on her lips again, the pale-skinned girl constricted her arms around the tree trunk even tighter.
“Oh… my… god…” Linlin gasped, her mouth dropping open.
“Uso…” Aika mumbled, “Shige-san isn’t athletic or gutsy enough to do that… right?”
“That idiot…” Junjun muttered under her breath.
“Junjun!” Sayumi yelled again. “I… I just wanted to say… I LOVE YOU!”
The crowd burst into murmurs and scornful laughter. How dare that girl confess such a thing? Junjun was nobody’s. She was a public figure, meant to be admired but belonging to no one. And this girl, this antisocial girl that everyone hated, thought she was good enough to ask for Junjun’s love? How stupid. How cocky.
“When we first met, all I could think about was getting rid of you,” Sayumi confessed, her heart pounding and her cheeks blushing. “You were loud, confident, and charismatic… everything I’m not. I was jealous and close-minded. But before I even realized it myself, I was getting used to your every action and word. You’re the first person who saw me for who I was and who I could be. I… I don’t care how many challenges I lose, as long as I can stay with you!”
“But I already lost, Usa-chan,” Junjun yelled up, smirking. “The game is over.”
“… That’s right,” Sayumi admitted, swallowing hard. “
Your game is over. But it’s my turn now. This time, I’ll challenge you, Junjun! And I won’t lose you— I mean, to you! Because I lov—KYAAAAHHHH!!!!”
The branch broke with a loud crack, taking Sayumi down with it. She could hear the crowd gasping in shock as she fell through the air. It was a short moment but during that time, Sayumi found herself thinking about Junjun for a split moment.
Any moment now… She started to expect her body to hit against the grass, or the asphalt, or something that could cause damage. But no such sensation came. Instead, there was a loud grunt as Sayumi dropped into safety. She was pulled in even closer to feel warmth… human warmth. The bunny slowly opened her eyes to see the face that she had been longing for, breathing heavily.
“Usa-chan, you’re a lot dumber than I thought,” the savior breathed. “When is it ever a good idea to climb a tree that’s two stories high, huh?”
“Junjun!” Sayumi gasped. “You… but you were just standing over there! How did you…?”
“What do you think?” the panda huffed, rolling her eyes. “I ran. I can’t have you breaking your back after you climbed that tree to confess to me. It was hell of a lot of trouble to catch you like this too, you know. You’re kind of heavy.”
“S-sorry, I’ll get down now—”
“No, stay still,” Junjun said, holding the bunny even closer, bridal style. “It’s okay to stay like this for a little longer…”
Before Sayumi could fully comprehend the yankii girl’s meaning, she found her mouth being fully covered with another pair of lips, moving slowly but hungrily. A soft squeal elicited from the bunny’s throat as she closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around the panda’s neck so she wouldn’t fall backwards. Junjun’s lips started to move even more eagerly, her tongue fully exploring the inside of Sayumi’s mouth. The girl being carried could hear the observers gasp and even sob a little as they watched the two black-haired girls kiss passionately. Sayumi had been kissed by Junjun before, although it was by force, but it felt a little different this time. This wasn’t just a joke or a game. It was pure sincerity and honesty that Junjun was trying to convey. And now that she was actually enjoying this little moment, Sayumi realized what a good kisser Junjun actually was. She figured it was from experience but couldn’t decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
The yankii leader finally parted from the girl she was holding, leaving the victim breathless with bright red cheeks. Sayumi stared at the panda with wide eyes, surprised by what had just happened. Junjun gazed right back with that familiar grin of hers. Suddenly, everything felt so normal… so nostalgic, and so right.
“Listen up, everyone!” Junjun ordered, addressing the crowd of students watching them as well as the audience that was poking their heads out through the window. “As you have all just witnessed, this girl belongs to me now and I belong to her. Anyway who messes with Michishige Sayumi will have to answer to me, understand?”
“And me!” Aika chimed in, taking a step out of the crowd with a huge smile.
“Me too!” Linlin joined, raising her hand high up in the air.
“Okay, now that’s all settled so…” Junjun sighed as a wicked smirk stretched across her lips, “why don’t go get some privacy?”
The crowd of students fell into a commotion as Junjun started to exit the courtyard and into the school building with Sayumi still in her arms. The students expressed regret, hate, and sadness but some even expressed relief from Junjun finally settling down… or so it seemed.
“I still can’t believe Shige-san climbed a tree,” Aika said, laughing. “Didn’t see that one coming at all.”
“I love happy endings,” Linlin sighed contently, grinning.
Meanwhile, Junjun was already strutting down the hallways, not caring about who was staring and whispering. Sayumi felt a little ashamed at being carried but she knew the panda had no intention of putting her down at the moment. So she decided to ignore the staring as best as she could and started up a conversation instead.
“You… you’re not mad at me?” Sayumi mumbled, still not believing the current situation.
“Why would I be mad at you?” Junjun asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Because you were being so mean to me this morning!” the bunny yelled. “You said I was annoying, and that I shouldn’t bother you anymore!”
“Oh… I did say that, huh?” Junjun chuckled. “Well, I only said it because I thought you hated me.”
“Why would you think that?” Sayumi frowned.
“Well, other than the fact that you actually told me you hate me a couple times before, you’ve tried slapping me once and failed, actually succeeded in slapping me at the karaoke place, and swore you will defeat me and break away from me multiple times so…” Junjun smiled as she shrugged. Sayumi bit down on her lips.
“… I guess I did come off as a hateful person,” the bunny admitted.
“It’s okay, I wasn’t hurt that much,” the panda grinned. “It’s just that you’re going to have to put up with being a yankii leader’s girlfriend now and always stay on alert so you don’t kidnapped or something—”
“Wait!” Sayumi yelled. “Did you just say… girlfriend?”
“Well, yeah,” Junjun said, cocking her head. “That is what you are to me now, aren’t you? And I’m the same for you… aren’t I?”
“I… I guess…” the bunny mumbled, blushing a little. “It… um… it has a nice ring to it… I like it.”
“I can’t believe this,” Junjun laughed. “I was trying to warn you about the possible dangers you could be in by being my girl and all you caught from my warning was the obvious fact that we’re dating now?”
“Oh… Well, should I be scared?” Sayumi asked quietly.
“Maybe,” Junjun grinned. “But I don’t want you to be. I’m going to protect you with all I have, Michishige Sayumi-san, you can count on that. And if I can’t be there by some unavoidable circumstances, Aika and Linlin will be. I swear, I’m not going to let my status ruin you too.”
“… You just called me Sayumi,” the pale-skinned girl said, gasping softly.
“There you go again!” Junjun moaned. “I was making a serious promise there and all you can think of is the fact that I said your name?”
“But you always call me Usa-chan!” Sayumi explained. “But now… you just called me by my full name.”
“Like I said, I was making a serious promise,” Junjun grinned. “I’m unserious most of the time, I guess, but my feelings for you are nothing but sincerity. Please believe me.”
“… I do,” Sayumi answered quietly. “And… even if I say a lot of mean things, I hope you know I don’t… you know…”
“… Mean them?”
“Oh, I mean them sometimes but…” Sayumi hesitated, “I hope you know how to filter out my words, you know what I’m saying?”
“I think so,” Junjun chuckled. “Don’t worry; I actually think your poison tongue is one of your greater charms. It makes me want to annoy you more.”
“Good to know,” Sayumi muttered.
“Oh, and about that challenged you mentioned when you were up on the tree?” Junjun grinned. “I’m willing to take you up on that.”
“… What do you have in mind?” the bunny asked, raising an eyebrow.
“How about… “
Junjun started to smile even more as she put down Sayumi on her feet. The bunny looked around, realizing they were at a completely different place now. It was the school’s gymnasium, which was empty now since it was lunch period. Junjun pushed Sayumi up against the wall and trapped her between her arms. The pale-skinned girl just stared up with wide eyes, starting to get a little nervous.
“… Whoever can kiss longer without losing her breath wins?” Junjun smirked, leaning in closer.
“That’s not fair! You’re obviously going to win!” Sayumi complained, feeling her face heat up already.
“Scared already?” the panda teased. “If you win, you can ask for whatever you want from me. But if I win… I get to kiss somewhere else besides your lips.”
“… Fine,” Sayumi answered. She didn’t even know why she was agreeing to such a deal; the results were set already. But she didn’t care whether she won or lost. Either way, her prize or punishment were both going to be the same thing.
“You’re going to get an ownership mark on your neck after this game, Usa-chan,” Junjun murmured, leaning in closer until her lips were only a centimeter away from her girlfriend’s. “And for the round after that, maybe you’ll get the same mark somewhere else too…”
With that, the yankii kissed her lover with all the emotions she could draw out. Sayumi obliged happily as she kissed back with the same amount of love and passion. Her tongue worked a little too quickly, and she knew she would easily be out of breath soon. But she didn’t care. Rather, that was what she wanted. She could challenge her lover as many times as she wanted with the punishments continuing over and over again endlessly. As long as it was against the special person in front of her, Sayumi didn’t want this game to end any time soon.

I didn't really edit so if there are mistakes... yeah, use ur imgination

This was fun to write though, so i hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did

So here's a
confession: Arc 1 is ending.

Specifically, it's ending within the next 3-4 chapters.
I could go on to an Arc 2 story (which I have planned if needed) or I could just end it after Arc 1.

So yeah. I'm thinking.

I'll see how I feel about it by the end of Arc 1

But don't worry about that. For now, just enjoy the itty bitty pieces i'm giving...
