Chapter 39 “Now if you all did your homework last night and read the correct chapter, you would know that— Kamei-san, this is your second strike of the semester— the Tokugawa shogunate was overthrown in 1868.”
Takahashi-sensei put down the chalk and turned around with a sweet smile as the rest of the class also flipped around to look at the back of the room. Eri stopped dead in her tracks, frozen with her back hunched in an attempt to stay hidden. A couple of the boys snickered as other girls just giggled. Risa slapped her own forehead and sighed at her friend’s aho-ness. The turtle laughed nervously as she straightened her back and quickly sat down in her seat. She had been late to school once again and her teacher had caught her without looking, just like last time. It was kind of creepy how Takahashi-sensei seemed to be able to do anything but now, most of the students were getting used to her seemingly supernatural powers.
“Sumimasen, Sensei,” Eri apologized, scratching her head.
“Daijoubu,” Ai said kindly. “Just try not to get a third strike, or you’ll have to write an essay for me.”
“I understand,” Eri said, nodding.
As the teacher turned back to the board and started to write, Eri could see Risa ripping out a page of her notebook from the corner of her eyes. The turtle sighed, preparing herself for the bean’s questioning. Sure enough, the iinchou soon flicked a piece of folded paper towards her friend only seconds later. Eri unfolded the note and read it to herself.
“What happened on Saturday? Give me all the details!” the turtle thought. She smirked as she started to write back a reply.
What makes you think something happened on Saturday?
Risa rolled her eyes at her friend’s sneaky reply as she furiously started to write again. This time, she seemed to write a lot more than usual. Eri figured the bean was getting restless already.
First of all, you were supposed to return my book on
Saturday night but you never came down.
Second of all, I rang your doorbell ten thousand times on Sunday
but you never answered.
Third of all, you’re late this morning, which means you were
probably walking a certain someone to school?
Eri laughed softly to herself while she read her friend’s note. Risa really was the smartest girl in the school, wasn’t she? She couldn’t immediately tell something was up. Before she could think of a response, the turtle felt another a piece of paper hit her hand.
I know you were home all day on Sunday.
What was keeping you so busy that you couldn’t
answer the door or answer my texts?
Eri started to think back to the day before. She started to remember the morning after Reina had come back, when the warm sun shining through the curtains had woke her up…
~.~.~
Eri slowly opened her eyes, licking her dry lips. Still not quite comprehending her surroundings, she yawned a little before her vision returned clearly. Only then, did the turtle spot the face of a cute, cat-like girl, sleeping peacefully. Her light brown hair was sparkling from the sunlight that was seeping through the windows. Her skin seemed perfectly white and smooth around her bare neck and shoulders.
Eri smiled, remembering the night before. Reina had finally come back to her. She had finally forgiven the turtle for her previous lies and actions and they had come to the conclusion that neither of them could live without the other. Reina had made herself out to be the lucky one but Eri felt that she was the more fortunate one. But then again, she always had.
As the kitten continued to sleep, Eri laid comfortably on her side, watching her returned girlfriend. Reina just seemed so perfect in every way. Even while sleeping, her cuteness seemed to irradiate in every direction. She was not just in love; she was immersed in love. The more she watched the petit girl, the more Eri felt like leaning in to touch her, to kiss her. To feel that soft cheek, to taste those sweet lips…
“Stared enough yet?”
Before Eri could even finish her gasping, the turtle found herself flipped to her back and pinned down by the previously sleeping girl. Without giving Eri a chance to say a word, Reina dove in and touched her lips with her lover’s, matching them like two perfect puzzle pieces. She started out softly before licking Eri’s lips with the tip of her tongue, allowing the short-haired girl to let out a near-silent moan. Before the kiss could get more intense, the ex-yankii backed away, smiling mischievously.
“You don’t have to just observe the prey,” she giggled. “You’re welcome to taste it a little, too.”
“Ugh, don’t say things like that,” Eri groaned, rolling her eyes. “Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to sleep like this with you? How hard it was to hold back?”
“I’m sorry,” Reina laughed, pressing her forehead against the turtle’s. “But I do appreciate your self-control.”
Although it was silently decided that Reina would be staying over at her girlfriend’s home, they didn’t get too caught up in the moment. As much as they both wanted to belong to their lovers, they also understood that it wasn’t the right time. Eri understood that Reina was still quite insecure with the fact that her “boyfriend” was now a “girlfriend” and with her own… preference. Frankly speaking, she wasn’t completely used to seeing Eri wearing girl pajamas either. How then, could Reina even be used to seeing the turtle’s bare body that was obviously a woman’s? So instead of going further, they had decided to just sleep together in the same bed. Although Eri continuously said she was perfectly fine with this restriction, Reina had felt guilty that she couldn’t give herself completely yet. So she took the liberty to take off her sweater and sweatpants— also because she was embarrassed about them— and sleep in just her tank top and underwear. Meanwhile, Eri had slept in a white, button-down pajama top with just her underwear as well.
“I’m willing to wait as long as you need me to,” the turtle smiled. “Just being with you like this, my whole honest self revealed, already feels unreal. It’s too good to be true.”
“I feel the same way,” Reina sighed as she planted another quick kiss on her lover’s lips. “Too bad I realized by good fortune not soon enough.”
“Better late than never,” Eri grinned. “I, for one, am glad that I stopped contacting you and waited. The time was torturous but it was worthwhile.”
“So that was your plan!” the kitten hissed. “You purposely stopped texting! You were using reverse psychology on me? Who suggested that?”
“Has it never occurred to you that I might have been the one that thought of it?” Eri said slowly.
“I know you, Eri,” Reina said, rolling her eyes. “You’re the type who keeps running forward, even though there’s a brick wall. You use instinct, not logic. So tell me; who helped you?”
“I won’t betray anyone,” Eri said, grinning. “But I think you can guess.”
“… Junjun!” the kitten growled. “That girl… she was also the one who led me here!”
“Really? She did that?” Eri asked, pleasantly surprised. “Wow. And she even said she wouldn’t get involved… I think I owe her one. I should get her cake later or something.”
“Don’t bother; she and the girls empty out my fridge every week anyway,” Reina sighed. “That’s their paycheck.”
“Well, that paycheck should be given by me,” Eri laughed. “So how about I treat you to breakfast right now instead?”
“I’d like that,” Reina said, smiling and blushing a little. “And, you know, I have an idea of how I can get… um… used to you… a little quicker.”
“Used to me? What do you— oh.” Eri stopped and blushed a little as Reina giggled. Her girlfriend really was trying hard, so that they could both physically and emotionally belong to each other soon. So the turtle wasn’t the only one who was looking forward to that day… or night, as it may be.
“I’ll tell you my idea later,” the kitten purred, gleaming. “But for now, let’s get something to eat.”~.~.~
Eri felt something hit her head and fall on her desk. She blinked quickly a couple times before turning to look at her friend next to her. The bean rolled her eyes as she pointed at the scrunched up paper ball on the turtle’s desk. Eri slowly opened it up, trying to make as little crinkly noises as possible.
You’re spacing out, Kame.
Tell me what happened!
You’re seriously killing me here!
Eri tried to suppress laughter as she took up her pencil and started to scribble on the same page. When she was done, she flicked the paper over to Risa’s desk.
We got back together.
The bean let out a low groan as she arched her eyebrows in a frown. She let out a strong exhale that sent her bangs up. She started to furiously scribble on the paper again before tossing it towards Eri’s head. But the turtle was prepared this time around and caught it before it could hit her once more.
I know you guys got back together, it’s so obvious!
Okay, let me break it down for you specifically, aho Kame.
What were you doing that was so important that you could even answer the door?
Eri read the note and raised an eyebrow. What had she been doing? She remembered eating breakfast with Reina first. She remembered wanting to change but Reina had stopped her and led her to the couch in the living room instead…
~.~.~
“Reina, what are you doing?” Eri asked in a panic with a worried expression.
“Just stay still for a second!” the kitten giggled. She quickly kissed the turtle full on the lips before smiling. “All you have to do is trust me, okay?”
Eri sighed deeply before nodding. She was starting to calm down a bit when Reina kicked off the turtle’s adrenaline rush once more by pushing her back into the couch to sit. Before Eri could get up again, the kitten quickly climbed on top of her girlfriend’s lap and straddled her, smiling.
“R-R-Reina?” Eri stuttered, not comprehending the current situation.
“Calm down a little, will you?” the ex-yankii whispered, kissing the corner of Eri’s lips.
“… My girlfriend is straddling me on my couch while trying to get in a kiss, and she’s only dressed in a tank top and underwear,” Eri narrated, “and you think I can stay calm?”
“I guess you’re right,” Reina laughed. “I wouldn’t be able to stay calm either.”
With that, she leaned in for another kiss from the turtle. Eri was quick to oblige as their tongues danced against each other. Reina stroked her lover’s soft cheeks in the process and moaned softly when Eri started to suck on her tongue. Reluctantly, the kitten parted from the turtle before either of them could be satisfied.
“But if you could stay still this one time,” Reina whispered in a more serious tone, “it might help me in the long run… I want to become yours as soon as possible and want you to become mine alone.”
Eri stared into her lover’s deep brown eyes; she could sense sincerity in her voice as well as determination, but her eyes betrayed that courage. In all honesty, Reina was actually quite unsure and scared. She definitely loved Eri with all her heart but she didn’t know whether she was ready to accept the fact that the person she loved was of the same gender. But she was willing to try as hard as she could, and Eri was willing to become her experiment subject. So she smiled and nodded encouragingly.
Reina let out a deep sigh and bit down on her lips. She swallowed before she slowly reached for the top button of Eri’s shirt. She slowly started to undo each button as the turtle watched her face intently. Soon, Reina was able to open up the shirt completely to reveal Eri’s white bra covering two perfect breasts as well as her flat stomach. The white skin of her collarbone looked smooth and flawless. Reina couldn’t help but stare at her girlfriend’s marvelous body. Eri’s cheeks quickly blushed red as she turned her head to the side.
“Stop staring at me like that,” she said. “It’s embarrassing…”
“I don’t know how I ever thought you were a boy, Eri,” the kitten laughed, “especially when you’re acting like this… It’s cute.”
“Well, that’s not something I hear every day,” Eri chuckled.
“Good, I’m glad you don’t,” Reina grinned. “I don’t want anybody else but me to think you’re cute. Don’t go around making people fall for you.”
“As if!” Eri laughed. Reina also giggled along before sighing.
“It’s so strange,” she whispered. “I’ve never thought before about falling in love with another girl… and it wasn’t something I considered possible either. But now, being with you like this… staring at a girl’s bare body, just like my own… it almost feels right. But I still can’t imagine myself being with another girl so… maybe it’s just you, Eri.”
“Well, I hope you don’t imagine yourself with another half-naked girl,” Eri grinned. “I should be the only one you’re straddling.”
“You are, don’t worry,” Reina laughed. “I… I really love you, Eri. Can you believe me when I say that?”
“I always have,” Eri smiled.
Reina also smiled as she leaned into kiss her girlfriend. The two lovers kissed over and over again, starting out gently but getting rougher with every touch. Reina’s hands slid down from Eri’s cheeks to her neck, to her shoulders, to her two perfect molds. She squeezed them gently, allowing the taller girl to moan softly into the kiss. Eri’s hands laid limp on her side, occasionally balling up into a fist, as she was touched in a hesitant yet tender way.
“You can touch me too, you know,” Reina whispered through the kiss. “I don’t know how far I can go at the moment but… we can find out.”
Without waiting another second, Eri immediately slid her hands up against Reina’s back and pulled her even closer. She broke away from the initial kiss and instead, leaned in to barely brush the tip of her tongue against Reina’s smooth neck. The kitten gasped as she arched her back and looked up, giving the turtle even more access to the collarbone. Eri’s hands slid underneath Reina’s tank top and touched around Reina’s soft back. Reina bit down on her lips to hold in a loud moan but it came out as a small whine anyway, which made her girlfriend smile. Eri tilted her head a little more upwards to go for her lover’s ears, and nibbled at it. She breathed hotly into it before giving it a light kiss, eliciting another gasp from her prey.
Suddenly, the door bell rang out loud and clear throughout the apartment, followed by some loud knocking. Eri stopped her actions and looked towards the door as Reina did the same, but with a frustrated frown.
“I should get that…” the turtle mumbled.
“Ignore it,” Reina said immediately. She went back to kissing her lover’s cheek and her motionless lips.
“KAMEHA, I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!” a loud voice boomed from behind the door. “You were supposed to come to my house last night, remember? What happened? Are you sleeping?”
“It’s Risa-chan,” Eri said in a low voice. “I should really get that—”
“Definitely not!” Reina hissed. She quickly angled herself in a way that she could push the turtle down on her back. She kept her legs straddled around Eri’s waist to trap her as she continued to kiss Eri’s neck. “You know, I’m starting to hear this name ‘Risa’ a lot… She’s just a childhood friend, right?”
“… Reina, are you jealous?” Eri smirked.
“I’m not jealous, I’m curious,” the kitten said flatly. “She’s your best friend, right? I think I’m allowed to meet her, as your girlfriend, right?”
“Kameha, open the door!”Risa’s voice echoed in the hallway.
“Well then, you can meet her now if you’ll let me get the door... mm...” Eri mumbled quietly, moaning at the last moment as Reina gently sucked on her skin.
“I can meet her another time,” Reina said nonchalantly. “There are more important things we can do at the moment.”
“Kameha, I’m not going to let you copy my homework for a week if you don’t open the door!” Risa yelled out threateningly.
“Okay, I should seriously get the door now, Risa-chan isn’t kidding,” Eri sighed.
“Your choice is between copying your friends homework and making out with your girlfriend,” Reina said, raising an eyebrow, “and you’re going to choose homework?”
“… I guess a couple bad grades won’t make much difference,” Eri shrugged, allowing Reina to smile.
“Now that’s what I want to hear…” Reina purred.
~.~.~
Another piece of paper hit the turtle square on the head before it dropped on the desk. Eri blinked a couple times and looked at Risa, who was narrowing her eyes. The turtle tuned her attention to the scrunched up paper and read the note written inside.
Oh, you are so having perverted thoughts right now.
Eri’s cheeks turned bright pink as she scrunched the note back up. She stuck out her tongue at the bean, who returned a sharp exhale and rolled her eyes. Eri tore out another piece of paper from her notebook and started to write again.
Well, you get the general gist of what happened.
Why don’t you tell me your side of the story, Risa-chan?
Anything new going on with Sen
The piece of paper got snatched away from the turtle’s desk in a blink of an eye. Eri looked up at her teacher who smiled down at her before clearing her throat and reading the note. Risa gasped as she started to panic.
“ ‘Well, you get the general gist of what happened’,” Takahashi sensei read out loud. “ ‘Why don’t you tell me your side of the story, Risa-chan? Anything new going on…’” Her voice traveled off at the unfinished sentence. “Well, I can tell you, Kamei-san, that Niigaki-san indeed has something new going on and that is essay writing after school today with you.”
“… Hai…” the turtle groaned, her shoulders slumping.
“You suck at passing notes,” the bean muttered under her breath.
“No, I’m just good at watching my students,” Ai smiled sweetly. “Now, please pay attention for the rest of the period!”
Risa picked up her pencil once more and started to madly scribble down the notes that she had not copied yet off the board. Eri started to do the same but her pace slowed down more and more until it came to a complete halt. She was still daydreaming about the events that had happened the day before, as well as future events that may happen sooner or later.
