^ It's a pretty cool story, and I think Riho chan was touched that Eric
Schullstrom asked Hiroshima for any kind of job after his career was over.
He is based in Alameda, California and he has been scouting for The Carp since
2003, bringing several foreigners to Japan, including some outstanding league leading players.
His wife Midori, is Japanese- they met when he was a player and they have two daughters.
He was the first foreigner to ask to continue to work for a Japanese baseball team after his playing days.
The Carp are owned by the family that owns Mazda, and their
rep was amazed that a foreigner wanted to continue to work with a Japanese team,
so they created the job for him in 2003. When he started, no other
Japanese team had scouts in the U.S., and now they all do.
So yeah, his loyalty to the home team where Riho Riho grew up seemed really
Cool to her!
