It was a bit akward when Takashi Okamura did his first meet and greet with Berryz Koubo. A long time ago, when filming a sports meet with Morning Musume, he did a dance routine at the end of the show, performing Love Machine with the H!P Kids. So naturally when he met them for this show, he first commented on how tall Yurina has become, as Yurina was 10 years old when they first had met. So Yurina, of course, had to reel out the stats, and at 177 cm she certainly is now quite a bit taller than Okamura at 156 cm. Then Okamura turns to Maasa, and sasy to her "how about you? What happened?" I think Maasa was caught offguard by this, as she obviously has put on quite a bit of weight lately, but I do not think she expected an on camera question about this. He asked her what her favourite food is and she answered Sushi, but man it was awkward.
Okamura himself is not an unthoughful person, however (not sure if Mari Yaguchi agrees with that); he was pretty kind to Ai Kago when she first started coming back post Hello!Project firing, and Okamura himself had to leave all professional activities due to severe depression for several months. He appeared to have gained quite a bit of weight himself, which may have been due to reactions to anti depressant medicine.
When he returned to television, his cast mates put on a pretty good welcome back show, and they set it to a story line based on the real life rescue of the miners in Chile, which had happened prior to Okamura's return to television. It was a touching way of saying "Hey you were missing from TV, but we wanted to see you back alive, again".
Anyway, despite this being the Berryz thread, if you have time please take a look at this clip (it runs over 20 minutes) and after all he has gone through, I could see that he is not the type of person who would want to hurt Maasa's feelings intentionally.
