7 is definitely true.

I doubt they have big meals at dinnertime(I think that's what you were saying). They don't seem to eat a lot.

1. Most of the time, yes. Japanese schools are big on discipline, and we've all heard about students committing suicide if they're simply not able to get accepted into a top university or get the grades they desired - so a lot of Japanese students end up disciplining themselves and commit to studying for years.

2. A lot of them can get away with it, yes. But the stricter schools ensure that the length of the skirts adhere to the uniform policy. The other schools also have a policy of course, but they just end up not caring and the female students can make it extremely short. Once they're are out of school, then they also are out of the school's control so the students can shorten it whenever they just leave if they choose.

3. I don't get this question...explain more?

4. Do you mean do Japanese schools win at a lot of festivals? Again, you'll need to expand on this question.

5. This I'm not sure of, sorry.

6. (See my response to 3)

7. I'm certain they only really do this when they're eating in groups, especially if it's friends or family, because it seems kind of silly to do so out loud when you're just eating by yourself. I think that only really happens in anime...

8. If you mean that Japanese people suffer a certain complex from other nationalities, then yes, just like any race.

9. Some houses, like many houses around the world, do have cockroaches in their homes. No matter how clean your house is, you can still have them. There's still a difference between having roaches in your home, and suffering an infestation. But the Japanese tend to like keeping their homes neat and tidy, and they're also strict with sanitation rules, etc. so only if a home isn't properly cared for will cockroaches be a significant problem. Then again, this applies universally too, so...

10. Um...Japanese female students = Japanese schoolgirls. Unless you're asking if Japanese college students are just as beautiful as the high school ones? If so, it all depends on what you find beautiful in a girl or woman. It doesn't matter whether they're in high school or older, a woman is either unattractive to you or not.

11. They sell alcohol in Japanese convenience stores, yes. But you have to be 20 years or older to purchase them.

12. Again, this all depends on the size of the family, who prepared the meals, their income, etc. Many Japanese housewives though want to please their family with attractive and delicious food for meal times, so they will go out of their way a lot of the time.

totally right, shadowstar, you are japanese, arent you, but as for Q11. this, i think, not necessary
i had lived in Japan almost all my life, and to be fair, think these questions depend on which prefectures youre from or what generation youre
im was born in 1985 and im from KANTO or TOKYO, i graduated from one of universities in TOKYO

and, btw, i had lived in many cities in TOKYO, and cockroaches were always horrible, dont know about your case, but when i lived in even SHINAGAWA, SETAGAYA and SHINJUKU, also known as upper classs residents, theres a ton of them, other than TOKYO or my rich friends house, or when i stay in US, theres no problem though

and, in my whole life i barely leave KANTO or JAPAN, except when i have to go to US sometimes, clearly dont know much about other prefectures in japan
but in KANTO, especially TOKYO, you dont have to be 20 years old to buy liquor

whatever your age or sex, almost all college kids in TOKYO drink alcohol all the time, although its banned among under 20
in my opinion i hate this, but i have to say this is true, and in my case, when i was 13-16 or something i use to buy alcohol by myself, i was green and a bad boy
after high school graduation, i dont drink much, but my SENPAI forced me to drink a lot, IKKINOMI, when i was in college, thats really annoying, in this case breaking the law is justified
in fact in tokyo in every year some college kid die of acute alcoholism, dont know much about other countries, but i guess this is common all over the world except arabian countries

i really love my country, japanese history and samurai
but i hate the custom after MEIJI, which KOHAI cant resist SENPAI, thats so squre, am i right?
SENGOKU era was so beautiful, or BAKUMATSU, where is the crazy samurai lately? theres no samurai nowadays, just a neat and normal guys
think japan needs more cheerfulness and learning to their own history or something different, i guess, i never trust the teachers in japan
all i can say is japan is nothing like anime and japanese education is crazy, annoying and meaningless

:shocked I didn't think Japan was that bad about alcohol. Me and my mum thought ''Oh wow,you wouldn't get this in Britain'' We're a lot closer than they think. I only really drink alcopops so when I'm there I most likely won't drink. Alcopops are good, because if more people drank them instead of real hard alcohol the world would be a better place. I'd only drink sake if I couldn't sleep! It's real strong stuff. Maybe they make it so strong so that they're knocked out so that they don't have to talk to people. Or that might just be me reading too much into it.

yeah right, one of my american friends said to me, "Wow cant believe the japanese dont wear KIMONO in TOKYO", something like that
she thought that all the japanese wear KIMONO all the time, i guess, this amazed me... btw, in my case, ive never worn KIMONO
"We're a lot closer than they think", thats RIGHT

as for alcohol, the japanese universities or colleges are THAT bad, as far as im concerned
btw, you know what "和" means?, one of "和" means "dont strive with others", i guess
everybody say "japan is country of "和"", i think thats right,
so the japanese cant resist the really BAD traditions, and the japanese dont want to take risks nowadays i think, unlike crazy SAMURAIs

"Maybe they make it so strong so that they're knocked out so that they don't have to talk to people."
haha, could be right,

IN MY OPINION about alcohol problems
many japanese guys want to go out with girls fanatically, but some of them dont do it individually, coz japan has never had that kind of tradition
so they dont just ask girls out, you know what they do, they want to do "Nomikai"

in case you didn't know, check this out, from wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomikai

no matter what community you belong to in JAPAN, Nomikai MUST happen
thats the biggest chance for guys to get girls in japan, i guess
btw, you know Japanese adult video, AKA JAV, thats a crazy dream, it never happen to normal people
almost all the japanese girls are NOTHING like JAV, i can tell

and of course, therere many guys who can ask girls out by themselves
but Nomikai, its the easiest way to find your other half in japan
naturally, in every year, acute alcoholism could be a serious problem espeacially among young people

Well I've got that before about not finding someone like in AV but really,to be perfectly honest,I'm happy with someone average looking as long as they're nice. And I've never seen a really ugly Asian girl,I've noticed they're very good at presenting themselves.
