Pre-dia 3rd Party (1st Anniversary) RecapThis weekend in Tokyo
PASSPO and
pre-dia both had anniversary concerts. PASSPO's 2nd Anniversary concert was on Saturday at Akasaka Blitz (with pre-dia as the opening act) and pre-dia's 1st Anniversary concert was on Sunday night at Shibuya REX. Shibuya REX is a new club that opened last month and is about a 20 minute walk from Shibuya Station. It's a small venue with a capacity of 250 people (or one baby Tyrannosaurus REX).
The entrance and birthday bouquets for Rumina and KeikoOn Saturday it had rained all day, but on Sunday the weather was perfect. There were double rainbows everywhere!! *kidding* Upon arriving at REX fans were gathered outside the venue
street fighting and breakdancing hanging out, as opposed to huddling under umbrellas and overpasses to get out of the pouring rain. I only saw three or four girls at their concert, so I was amused when I read a blog entry by a Japanese fan who wrote there were a lot more girls attending than normal, lol.
Opening Act for PASSPO's 2nd Anniversary FlightsBefore I get to their solo concert, I wanted to briefly recap their opening act performance at PASSPO's concert the day before.
For the day concert they performed:
Dia Love
Honey B
Kimi Mitai ni
Diamond High HeelsFor the night concert they performed:
Honey B
Dream of Love
HEY BOY
Dia Love The day concert was pretty tame, I think in part because their set list was mainly their slower, ballady songs... and the fact that it was a concert at 13:00. They performed their more up-tempo dance songs at the night concert. Ok, that's it for that... I said it would be short
3rd PartyIn addition to being their first anniversary, the concert was also celebrating Rumina and Keiko's birthdays.
White and teal glowsticks were handed out to fans with specific instructions on when to activate them. Since I can't read Japanese I cracked them immediately once the concert started *kidding, again*. The instructions were to activate the teal glowstick when Rumina and Akane sang
Eyes2Love and the white one during the encore. But what if there wasn't an encore?!
Before the live started a staff member asked everyone to move closer to the stage to let the stragglers in. The place was already packed but everyone moved closer to the stage. A few minutes later the same guy asked everyone to move even closer, lol. The staff then explained it would ok to take photos, just without flash. The lights went out and the concert started with
Dia Love and
Diamond High Heels. I was surprised that they were wearing their original outfits (the costumes from the pic in the OP. PASSPO should have done the same and performed in their original outfits, oh well). There was a brief MC before singing the third song
HEY BOY, which is one of my top 3 pre-dia songs. And then *drumroll* they debuted a brand new song called
Do the Party!!. It is amazing!! The choreography is really fun and it just rocks, I think it's going to be their new theme song.
After the song conclude the girls lined up for the first real MC segment. They asked the crowd if they liked the song and then the birthday girls Rumina and Keiko talked a little.
pics from ciento-cuatro blogThe group left the stage, the lights went out and a projector screen came down. The PV for
Honey B was then shown for the first time. The PV is basically them dancing, skipping, jumping, and frolicing in a grassy park. It was pretty low budget
. Well at least they're getting PVs, it took a while for PASSPO to get them
.
After the PV ended a "fashion show" was performed with the group split into two sub-groups, the first group dancing to a Kara song and then the second group danced to Namie Amuro's NEW LOOK. Akane then sang one of my favorite J-pop songs ever
Heavenly Star by Genki Rockets! She was awesome and while she sang each girl came out one at a time and tossed a flower to the crowd. Marina's flower hit the ceiling and landed back in her hand, so cute
.
Reiko after tossing her flower and Akane singing. (horrible iphone pic) The girls left the stage except for Rumina and Akane who sang the duet song
Eyes2Love (b-side on their new single). Everyone activated their glowsticks and did the whole "glowstick thing". It was glowtastic™!
After a brief MC they performed five songs:
Girl's pre-dia Party (cover of PASSPO's Girls Pajama Party)
,
One More Yesterday (a unit song featuring five members),
Dream of Love (my favorite pre-dia song),
Kimi Mitai ni, and their "last" song
Honey-B.
One More Yesterday /crappy pic, heheA few seconds after their last song, a guy already started the encore chant
. When the group came back on stage they had changed into personalized 1 year Anniversary polos that were given to the group by some fans. The back of the shirt listed all the concerts they had done during their first year:
This is the last horrible pic, I promiseFor the encore they sang
Do the Party!! and
Dia Love again.
White glowstic time I was glad they sang Do the Party again because I really wanted to hear it again... and it could be months until that song is going to be released (as a single or on their first album). The show concluded with singing happy birthday to Rumina and Keiko. They announced their next "party" would be at Shibuya O-WEST on 12-1-14. This is a pretty big venue upgrade. I remember this place as one PASSPO has performed at and has 600+ capacity.
HighlightsDuring the handshake Rumina, Marina, and Reiko remembered me from their July event at Saitama
.
Terumi, Mai, and the newest member Sakurako are really
pre(dia)
tty! But Reiko is still my favorite
Do the Party!!, Dream of Love, HEY BOY and the covers of Girl's pre-dia Party and Heavenly Star were my favorite performances.
After the live they had a handshake/2-shot event. I did the handshake and got my second 2-shot with Reiko.
This is what the tickets for the after show activities look likeReviewHonestly I didn't know what to expect from pre-dia's solo concert. They aren't as active as PASSPO and they don't have a huge catolog of music yet. I was actually worried that the club would be half empty. It turned out the concert sold out, and was probably overbooked. Every time I see pre-dia they exceed my expectations. They are a really good looking group, their music is amazing and their choreography is great. The only disappointment was the concert only lasted one hour.
9.6 diamonds out of 10
in the top picture, who's the third girl from the left?
the picture at the top of this thread =D
Runa. Oops, how long was that question there for
