I'm kinda surprised too, since that news come to me out of nowhere a few days ago... (Btw, I'm Indonesian too)

It's claimed that Dentsu's behind this project, also AKS was said to have aknowledged this project...

Some source said that this group is going to be cover-based (meaning that they'll mostly cover AKB songs, just like the girls in SG cafe), so please don't expect too much from this project as if it's a full-fledged sister group like SKE/NMB/HKT, at least for now...

Oh well, looks like I'll need to watch every news or talkshow in Japanese TV channels tonight, seems it's likely that they'll bring up this topic at this rate...

There has been news going around about a new sister group of AKB48 in Indonesia, based in Jakarta, named JKT48. From the resources I have found they announce that they are official and work with dentsu. You can see the facebook page and twitter here:

I'm so sorry, I couldn't use the search feature in this forum, maybe because of my number of posts, so after manually searching a few pages in this sub-forum for JKT48 I concluded that there isn't a topic yet. I should have searched for more pages to the back ><

I used CTRL+F to find 'JKT48', but it was written as Jakarta48 in the thread, sorry I should have been more attentive

More overseas groups are to be expected...

To me, one of the main appeals about AKB48 is that they are Japanese girls singing in Japanse. It's part of that culture and it just fits, if you know what I mean. By exploiting this concept in other countries, it loses its main appeal.

JKT48 will be adapted for Indonesia... whatever that means. It may be cool for the people there, but I am not interested in this group at all

Well, maybe I'm interested in how it's received and what they do with it...

We'll be getting more and more of these groups, but I guess Aki-P is aiming these groups towards their local areas. I think he doesn't realize (or has to care) that there are international fans who try to follow akb, ske, nmb and sdn... Basically, what I'm trying to say:
Aki-P: France doesn't have a 48 group yet! Let's make one to entertain them and capture that market!
Fans: Damnit, we are already following tons of 48 groups. We don't need more and have no interest in a local group with French girls!

Btw, is Aki-P actually involved with this group (auditions, song writing, etc) or is this the first case when he actually sold the concept of AKB48 like he explained at Mipcom?

People like 48 sisters because they are Japanese with Japanese culture singing Japanese songs.
