Elva Brings Sight, Smell & Taste to the Arena
 

Elva’s “2010 Heinnessy Music E!VA WOW World Tour” will kick start on New Year’s Eve, and Elva has announced previously that she will give her fans an experience of “Sight, Smell and Taste”, which makes many fans guessing what she could come up with. “When I’m performing ‘Red Rose’, rose petals will descend from the top of the Arena, and fans will be able to smell Chanel’s ‘CHANCE’ perfume at the same time. I’m really grateful for Chanel’s sponsor!” says Elva.



The ‘Smell’ experience will be the most difficult to execute, as Elva and her team had cracked their brains for almost a month to think of a way to fill the whole Arena with perfume within a minute! Fortunately, after they had met the executives from Chanel and told them their ideas, the executives immediately agreed to sponsor the perfumes!



This will be Elva’s second collaboration with Chanel. Previously in 2004, she was invited by ELLE magazine to fly to Paris for the Chanel fashion show, and photos of the event were published in her best hits album, ‘Beautiful Episode’. After 5 years, Elva is very excited about the concert and the collaboration with the fashion label. “I would like to thank Chanel for their support. Their ‘CHANCE’ perfume is not only one of the most popular scent amongst teenagers, it’s also one of my personal favourite!”
Elva further elaborates on the theme for her concert: “’Sight’ means giving my fans a great performance and wearing my tailor-made outfits. And after confirming Jing Hua as my special guest, we exchanged text messages constantly to discuss what kind of spectacular performance we can do. As for the red rose petals, I hope to give my fans a romantic feeling, so I have prepared to sing hit ballads like ‘I Loved You So Much’ and ‘The Most Familiar Stranger’.

To prepare for the WOW concert on New Year’s Eve.
We’ve began rehearsing since October.
This time, we have invited LUMA to re-choreograph my past dances.
LUMA has this natural rhythm in her, not only is she great in choreography,
she is also very particular about every move.
Even a small move of a shoulder has to be practised over and over again.
After the rehearsal, I have developed iron legs, shoulders and neck~~

Elva Shows Off Her Sexyback
 


Elva is willing to go all for her concert! For someone who does not like to show off her body, she requested for a change of clothes in the middle of the stag. She will remove her jacket for a more androgynous look which showed off her beautiful back, and perform Justin Timberlake’s “Sexyback”.





“It’ no big deal!” declares Elva. She would also be changing during her dances at various parts of the stage. As for whether she has any protection, she laughed “Don’t worry, we got it all covered.”

The countdown to Elva’s WOW concert has begun, besides working out, practicing her dances and running, Elva does not leave the house at all! Her manager said that Elva could run ten runds without much effort now, so she has very good stamina now.

Besides keeping a diet, she also promised her manager to stayout of love for the time being. “I want to be in love when the clock strikes 12! And I would introduce my new boyfriend to everyone,” she jokes.

Her manager revealed that Elva does not like to go clubbing. Instead she loves to stay at home to surf the net and update her blog. Sometimes she would be so coped up she forgets her meals!

As a fashionista, Elva wished she could give her fans a visual treat from her outfit, so she asked her good friend Wawa to make create her accessories. After more than ten weeks of designing and handiwork, a bling bling golden hand glove was finally created.



“Wow, it’s even more beautiful than I expected,” screams Elva when she first saw the glove. “I have always love Wawa’s design, so when we first started to brainstorm the outfits for my concert I immediately requested for her help. I told her I would have a lot of hand movement and I need the shining effect, so we came up with a golden glove idea.”
Wawa said:“I love Elva’s style, and I waned to add some accessories on her. So I was working towards a more edgy yet nostalgic look. We had a great time working together. The golden glove was reported worth NT30,000.

Elva shapes up!


As Elva’s “2010 Hennessy Music ELVA WOW World Tour” draws near, the pop diva took time out to show off the results of her fitness regime at the boxing ring!

Wearing black boxing gloves, Elva was extremely energetic: “I did not know that the exercise would be so good at stress relieving. Five minutes into it and I’m sweating profusely, feeling all perked up!”

Elva said that she has been practicing pilates regularly because she can do it alone in her own private space and it allows her to tone her muscles. After trying on boxing gloves in the music video of “Goodbye Bye Bye”, she became highly interested in the sport: “After listening to the instuctor’s explanation, I realized that boxing requires both hand and leg co-ordination as well as intense concentration. Besides pulling punches in the air, I can also beat up my opponent. All the screaming and punching was such a relief for me!”

Elva Messes Around with Huang Jing Lun
 


Huang Jing Lun’s sophomore album, “OK Man”, will be released soon. As a bachelor, Huang Jing Lun had always wanted to be a “OK Man”, so that he will not be flustered when he meets his dream girl. Therefore, his record company, Warner Music, arranged for him to pass four tests as set by Elva, F.I.R., Huang Xiao Hu and Show Luo.

The first test was set by Elva, who wanted Jing Lun to learn the dance steps from her “WOW” music video. This was a challenge for Jing Lun, who had problem with hand and leg co-ordination.

“Immediately after work I stayed at home to watch the music video for more than 30 times and practiced the moves myself. I even dreamt of Show Luo!”says Jing Lun.
Rehearsing for the first time, Elva burst into laughter, “I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have laughed. It’s so unprofessional.”



“It’s okay, no female artiste has never laughed when they worked with me,”joked the Singaporean singer.

Elva said that she was shocked by Jing Lun’s expression and he had a presence of a Lion King, “Especially when I sat on the stage and he slowly moved towards me, his eyes were so passionate and his dance moves were great!”

“I spent three days practicing, imagining myself to be Show Luo. But I know I can very different from Show, at least I have my own style!” replied Jing Lun, who surely knows his limits.

“At least you are funnier than Show!” encouraged Elva.

Elva Shortens Her lifespan for Her Mum's Health

Bad news struck as Elva prepares for her “2010 Hennessy E!VA WOW Concert”, coming up in one week’s time. Her mum’s has been diagnosed with cervical cancer few months ago and her condition has recently worsened.

Elva has been taking time off from her concert rehearsals to rush to the intensive care unit to visit her mum. To pray for her mum’s health, Elva went to the temple and asked the gods for her lifespan to be shortened by 10 years in return for her mum’s recovery. She had to kowtow for 800m and only received the consent from the deities at the fifth round.

To take care of her mum, Elva has not slept for almost two days and nights. As her mum’s wish is to see Elva perform in the Taipei Arena, the concert production crew specially arranged for a live telecast to the ward for her to see Elva’s performance.

Elva WOWs Her Fans in Countdown Concert

Last night (31/12/2009), Elva brought the Taipei Arena down with her “2010 Hennessy Music E!VA WOW Concert”, delivering a solid three-hour performance to all her fans while ushering the new year.



Elva opened the concert with a bang, arriving in a huge diamond ship, clad in a shining silver and white costume. The concert officially begins when her diamond mask gets ripped off by her dancers, sending the crowd into eardrum-breaking screams.
The shining diva next grooved to the dance music of “Shining Love”, “Spokesperson”, “L.o.V.e.” and “Sexyback”, before taking the stage together with special guest, A-mei, who sang her hit song “Victoria’s Secret” and “Come Here If You Dare” with Elva.
Ballads were a definite part of Elva’s concert, with songs like “I Love You So Much”, “Impulsive” and “I’ll Cry With You”, moving Elva and the 10,000 fans to tears as they swayed their lightsticks with the music.














As the countdown to the new year approaches, Elva spoke with tears in welling in her eyes: “It will be 2010 soon, and my Taipei concert is coming to an end. I have finished most of my performance, and I hope that everyone who had chosen to countdown with me was not disappointed, and could feel my effort that I have put in!... After so many years, I have sang many great songs, performed on many stages; but it must be hard for you to imagine that tonight means so much to me. I was quite unlucky these past years, and I thought maybe it was God’s way of telling me to give up. Then I realized that because I have so many things, God wants me to go through some challenges and tears, so that I would never forget to work hard and never forget some things are worth working hard for. Most importantly, I have learnt to cherish things. It was a tough journey for me to come to this stage again and perform for everyone. I will cherish this feeling, this moment that you guys are with me and the stage that you have given me! Thank you all! I love you!”

Elva's Mum Passes Away at Age 53
 
After a tough fight with cervical cancer last year, Elva's mum loses the battle on 1 January 2010, 1116hrs.

Elva has been putting a very tough front to perform at her year end concert. In fact, her mum was already in a comatosed state six days before the concert. Using webcast, Elva streamed her concert direct to her mum's ward for her to see her performance. Her 7th song in the concert, "I Love You So Much", reminded her of her mum, and she wept when she thought of her.

Elva specially dedicated her encore song, "Most Familiar Stranger", to her mum: "This is for my mum. I feel that she's always by my side."

After the celebration dinner for her concert at 4 a.m., Elva rushed to the hospital to sing ""I love You So Much" to her mum, and stayed till 8 a.m. before leaving for home to wash up. She had asked her mum to wait for her to return and dance for her. However, before she could perform for her mum, she has already passed away.

Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao's mother passed away on New Year's Day, and a grief-stricken Elva has found it almost impossible to deal with the situation. She was still unable to sleep after crying for 44 hours, and had to resort to taking sleeping pills in order to get some needed sleep. She will not contact her father in compliance with her mother's wishes.

Elva and her younger brother have been busy organizing her mother's funeral and says she cannot face the media at the moment due to her tumulous emotions; as a result, some of her new years events may be cancelled. Elva and her brother will inherit their mother's fortune, approximated near 10 million TWD, or 25 million HKD, which includes the late Mrs. Hsiao's marriage gift for her daughter, a huge mansion.

Having lost a parent (father) himself, Show Luo understands Elva's emotions and has been texting her since the incident, hoping that she will grow stronger. Jolin Tsai has also contacted Elva's manager to express her condolences.

Blog: A Belated Thank You

I’m fine, still hanging on. My emotions have been going through a roller coaster ride. I think I’m still a kid, waiting to be cared by my mum…

Losing the wings of my mum, I began to fly on my own. I promised my mum that I would fly higher and further than her. Although my heart still hurts, it’s slowly healing, thanks to my co-workers, my brother and my friends. As mum has said: “The elder sister should always behave like the mother of the house, so I must recover much faster.”

After the memorial, besides running some errands, I’m beginning to live normally by meeting up with friends. Everyone is trying hard to cheer me up, making me laugh and joke around.

However, my emotions would quickly cool down, and I wished that time could make me forget everything and get use to what has happened. A month has passed, whenever I see my handphone and the number which could no longer be dialed…

Actually, I wanted to thank everyone who had given me their support. I’m so sorry I couldn’t do so earlier because I was too caught up with grief! My friends really love me, and it reminded me that I’m very blessed. I’m very touched and I will treasure your love. I wish to do more for all of you, to let you know my gratitude. But I really miss my mum, the world best mum.

Lastly, I still have to thank all of you. Your smile warms my heart, Although I have lost my feelings for a while, I still love to see you and hear you.

At the Macau concert on 23/1, please sing along with me and give me your greatest support. I will recover to be your iron Elva on that day. I’ll be back.

Gold Typhoon held its annual Dinner and Dance in Taipei’s New York New York on Friday (05/02/2010) to celebrate the success of the record company over the past year. Many of the label’s artistes attended the dinner, including Elva Hsiao, A-Mei and Lollipop.

To thank her co-workers for the hard work that they had put in, Elva distributed NT200k worth of red packets and forked out NT300k to subsidise a getaway trip for her co-workers. A-mei also expressed her gratitude by giving out NT400k to her co-workers as bonus.

Seeing how generous A-mei and Elva were, Lollipop said: “As 1st-time host for the dinner and dance, we are definitely nervous, but we will put up a good show. Next year, we will give out money instead, and we will not lose out to Elva and A-mei.”

Elva attended the “Superstar Competition”, where artists like Angela Zhang and Show Luo were split into two teams to battle it out, ala NHK’s annual Kōhaku Uta Gassen.


Elva performed her hit number “Confession” and when she saw her idol, Nicky Wu, off stage, she was a little embarrassed: “He is my super idol, I love him out of the three in the Little Tigers.”
