Finally caught up with this show, and woah! Episodes 10, 11 and 12 were a blast! Why wasn't the whole season like this. We got properly plot, fan service and plenty of action. I loved the deteriorated look of Lancastar. It reminds me of certain video games when you re-visit the area you started from, but times have changed. In fact, I wouldn't mind a 0048 video game either. I think there's enough there to make a decent game out of it.

When I re-watch this show later, I'll probably go episodes 1-2-3 --> 10, 11, 12, 13.

It's only naturally that things slow down in the middle. It's true for pretty much any show out there.

Looking forward to the big finale!

Good:
They brought closure both to the Nagisa/Chieri issue and Nagisa's family problem.
Cyborg Mayu's ammo skirt (notice how she retains the shortened skirt in all subsequent scenes

)
Overall epicness of the performance and fight scenes.
Confirmation of season 2.

Bad:
Kanata/Takamina non-ending. Seriously? They spent half the season building up to it, only to deus ex machina to stretch it out until the next season? Sure I understand they just ran out of time, but I would have preferred they ended it on a cliffhanger rather than pull something like that out their asses.

(Man, I feel kind of bad about how Mayu's getting completely outdanced in the original.)

But lol she's slightly out of tune for the anime version. LOL CHIERI FUCKING UP THE DANCE BREAK TO TALK TO NAGISA. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Mayuyu's happy voice is so hammy, it's really weird and comes off extremely out of character, especially after her speech last ep. It's like she got high is is all chilllllllll nowww, maaaaaaan! This conflict was resolved kind of weirdly, because we never got to see why Chieri suddenly had her mental turnaround. It was just kind of shoehorned on her by the writer to skip to Nagisa having her voice back.

This revelation about all of 77th/75th having Center Nova potential rings false because of the uneven development this season. I mean, I guess Sonata, Makoto, Suzuko, Orine, and Mimori are all there solely on their utter devotion to the art, without need epiphanies from character arcs or any important subplots. See what I mean about the uneven development? I mean, the hell happened to Megumi? Isn't she an under? Why isn't she one of the chosen ones, what with all of the development she got this season? But nope, magically all nine girls suddenly are outdoing senbatsu in Kirara power, with the only explanation/foreshadowing for it being that they're supposedly the main cast. It makes no sense in-universe, though.

Woooo, Yuko duel wielding! LOL the altered itadakimayuyu. In-jokes for the win.

So we have the explanation of Chieri's Kirara shining in Nagisa's presence: it's not Nagisa making it glow, but Nagisa inspiring Chieri to act like herself instead of her hardened exterior. So it's Chieri's own idol aura setting the thing off, prodded into the open by Nagisa.

So glad there's going to be another season. Even though I'm pretty sure how the succession drama is going to play out, the Center Nova mystery still have more than enough intrigue to keep me interested. This season wasn't perfect, but it's miles better than Mendol or any of MG, and despite my bitching every episode, I truly enjoyed watching every one. Every episode was at least fun if not good, with some great moments scattered in clumps, as well. Can't wait for 2013.

Epic finale. Animation extravaganza to the max!

I don't even know what to say about the various story lines. I'm quite happy with the way everything has turned out so far.

Acchan was presented in an almost god-like way

Mayu ammo skirt was genius too, haha.

Nagisa is probably my favorite character so I hope she'll become the center nova in S2. On the other hand, that would be too obvious and I guess they might want to focus on one of the other girls. Definitely interested in the continuation of that storyline.

The kiraras pwn. Loved all the new ones and 'birth' of Nagisa's one.

Quite excited about No Name's single release now as well. That new yume song is awesome.

Great finale. Signature Macross multi-song high-action ending.
The whole show turned out pretty well. Top animations. Throwing in AKB lore all over the place. And the girls did a good job on VO.

Nitpick. they should've given Yukirin an umbrella to show her rain-girl/weather girl image. Wasted chance there.

But then, Tomochin would need to have her own robot lion, 4 ninja android backdancers or something... hmmm....

A bit late to the party as I just managed to watch the last episode but better late than never cos it ended with a freaking epic bang! Everyone's so shiny that I thought I was going to explode into a rainbow of kirara lights! I literally felt shivers down my spine watching the KKS perform their new song "Yume wa Nando mo Umarekawaru"

Chieri x Nagisa FTW! Chieri finally sees things Nagisa's way but I hope she still does her mean act every now and then. I like listening to her badass voice. By the way, anyone else thinks that Nagisa's kirara looks like a squishy mushroom?

Now that Nagisa's father has expressed his support for her, we are left with Chieri's daddy issues to settle in Season 2.

It's official. AKB0048 promotes WMidget love and Acchan x Mariko! Yuko may be a hothead but she's such an awesome friend to Takamina! I'm glad Takamina has been chosen again. I'm sure there is something else in store for Kanata. Maybe as someone speculated earlier (sorry I can't remember who), the KKS will not succeed any original members but be themselves, hence the seiyuu unit name "NO NAME". Kanata will then be the captain of this sparkling new unit.

I am so getting Sasshi vibes from Makoto. She has the hetare spirit down pat and seems to connect well with fans in this screenshot.

This scene is sooo GUNDAM! I can picture it in a GUNDAM OP/ED animation!

Last but not least, Mayuyu's ammo skirt that has got everyone fired up!

I swear the shortened skirt is an excuse to showcase Mayuyu's perfect oshiri as a tribute to the real Mayuyu. Look at all those people behind her, they can't keep their eyes off DAT ASS! Now that a second season has been confirmed, I demand a backstory on cyborg Mayuyu!

The overall character developments may not be that smooth as Rayle pointed out but heck, I don't care as the anime has been really entertaining. I can't wait for 2013!

PLEASE let this be an Season 2 episode dealing with Orine coming to terms with her just not being very Sasshi-ish, where Makoto is.
