She definitely should've been in the ten year unit. As much as I love Koha, vocally she isn't up to par with the other members, and Takahashi should've been there instead.

one thing I don't get is (this is alittle off the leader sub-leader topic) why is it she is not as famous as Yossie or Miki? or even Ayaya? her vocals are good enough to compete with Ayaya's so why is it she's always in the background?

i tend to wonder this aswell, but i guess thats how Tsunku wants it to be, but yeh, i really should think Tsunku should make Ai shine it bit more, since she has one of the best vocals in the group, and possibly one of the best in H!P..

That's cause she's always pushed in the back when it has nothing to do with singing. She's either really boring, or they just want her to seem that way. She actually quite popular concidering that. She generally gets a lot of love from males and lots of hate from females >_>

Anyways,

I hope making aichan the sub-leader will be an opportunity for her to showcase her personality more.

does she really get lots of hate from females? i really dont think so because she's not the type that offends other females (such as being overly cute/pinky/bubbly/self obsessed, etc). in fact imo i would think she's one of the more popular musume among girls. just look at the previous auditions. she got a lot of mentions from the auditioning girls..

That's mainly just with international fans I think. Cause I seriously see more hate than love towards her from females on forums. I was half joking about that part anyways. I really don't know much about opinions of the girls from the young japanese girls other than what berryz have said. I really didn't follow the auditions that much until the last 2 rounds.

well, there are many reports on 2ch that aichan obviously has the largest female fanbase (maybe except yossie) on concerts...not to say she has the largest fanbase amongst the members (not just Musume, where it is obvious she is the most popular, but I cant really recall anyone in H!P who doesn't like her

I recently watched Futarigoto, with Niigaki Risa and Takahashi Ai.

and i've come to like Ai even more now. I like her random spurts. and her seemingly odd and innocent questions and responses. lol and the fact that she keeps bringing history into the conversation, and gaki-san's totally losing interest. haha it rocks (b/c i'm a history major~).

The two really are a funny pairing, especially since ai gets absorbed in her own thoughts and line of thinking regardless what's going on around her and risa tries hard not to think at all! :-)

That's interesting. I'm happy to hear Takahashi has the biggest fanbase as well, really reflects it internationally as well. Just look at all the fansites and this thread! 75K reads and still going.. crazy.

You know even at Momusu auditions, when the girls are asked who their favourite is, it's 90% of the time Aichan (and the last 10% is mostly Koharu or Reina). I think during Lucky 7 audition people were still saying Maki Goto a lot, but with Happy 8 it's Aichan.
