Chapter 7 PART 2
Then there was a sound of bones breaking. Rena had swung the metal pipe at his ribs as the man was hit by it and was thrown to the wall. His body smashed painfully into the wall as he cried in pain, breaking several of his ribcage. His body shook as he slowly got to his feet, using the wall as his support. He coughed out blood as is it spilled to the floor in front of him. He stared the red fluid beneath his feet; his breath pattern became rigid as his vision becoming blurry.
An eerie giggled echoed the alley, how amusing it was for her when the man cried in pain. And yet, there was a hint of disappointment in her giggle. She then lifted the pipe and held it in both of her hands as she rested her cheek against the cool metal while she bit the bottom of her lips, giving a wide childish smile.
The man looked up at Rena, seeing her smile angered him, his blood started to boil as anger started to build, he gripped on the knife tighter and prepared to attack once more, “You son of a bitch!” He pushed himself off the wall, ignoring that pain that shot through his body, and darted for Rena.
Rena giggled once more before she swung the pipe like a bat, and hit him at the right side of his neck. A loud gruesome sound of bones snapping when the pipe made contact with his neck as he flew, blood spewing out of his mouth, the knifing flying out of his hand and landed near Rena’s feet. He fell to the floor with a thud, like a dead animal being tossed aside, as he lay there completely immobilized.
The boss’s and the two girls’ eyes grew wide in shock at the scene. The two girls felt a knot in their stomach; they had the urge to vomit by the gruesome sound and the smell of blood that invaded their nostril. They were not strong against the smell as their head became hazy. The horrid smell, sight, and sound they experienced, they wanted to block it out, but couldn’t. They knew they could simply close their eyes, blocking out the image, but their eyes would close. Their eye lids stayed wide open as if it were forcing them to witness the scene.
‘Stop! Please stop! Stop!’ The voice inside Rena’s mind cried out.
The current Rena ignored the cry as she slowly walked up the immobilized man, dragging the pipe on the floor making a strident scratching sound.
When she stood right in front of that man body, she looked down at him as she saw a hint of his chest moving. He was still alive and breathing, just barely. Another giggle escaped her lips before she lifted the pipe up, above her head, the tip pointing directly down at the skull.
‘No…. No… Don’t do it!’
Ignoring the voice once more, she struck the pipe down into the skull, piercing through the skull and the brain. His skull smashed into pieces like glass, his brain becoming holey and squished, as blood splattered everywhere, staining the female’s lower body, and some on her face. The pool of blood started to form, as the air around them became heavier to breathe.
Jurina and Mayu stared horrified, forgetting the pain in their lungs, their breath taken away from them, as they couldn’t take their eyes away from the scene. The image of the pipe smashing into the man’s skull repeated in their head over and over like a broken tape recorder. And it wasn’t just the image, the blood that splattered every time the pipe smashed into the skull repeated in their mind. The knot in their stomach became stronger as they need to vomit, but the laughter. That lunatic person, they believe was Rena, stopped them from doing so. It’s like her insane laughter was some sort of curse that prevented them from vomiting, and only felt them this disgusting knot in their stomach.
They watched as Rena kicks the shattered skull around, and poke the brain with her pipe before jabbing it several times, causing more blood squirt out from every jab, while she giggle like a maniac. Rena found it so much fun, the smell, the sight, the sound, everything amused her. She started to kick the pool of blood around as if she was a child playing in a rain puddle, and splattering it all over the concrete floor as she continues to giggle.
The man that was knocked out, finally woken up, as he stared horrified at the lurid scene. “In God fuck what just happen?” The voice took Rena attention away from playing in the pool of blood, as she limply turned her head. A huge grin plastered on her face as if she found a new toy to play with, to break into pieces by her own two hands.
“Get the fuck out of here!” The boss shouted and tossed the two girls aside, uncaring about them as he now as he just wanted to save his own life. They landed with a thud, and in haled heavily, finally get their oxygen running through their lungs, but the knot in their stomach remains. They slowly sat up and moaned in pain. Jurina rubbed the back of her head and looked at the man as her eyes grew wide when the man brought up the gun, held it both in his hand and aimed for Rena’s chest; he tried to steady his trembling hand before firing.
Jurina scrambled to her feet and tried to stop the man. “NO! STOP!”
Jurina moved the man’s hand when he had pulled the trigger as the bullet went flying, and missed Rena’s chest, but slit her left arm when the bullet shot by and hit the wall instead.
Rena directed her eyes away from the man, and looked at the newly slit, seeing a droplet of blood trickling down her pale arm. She stared at it with a deadpan expression as she brought her opposite hand up to the droplet, and slide a finger up the trail of blood. When the trail has ended, she lifted her hand up to her lips, and licked off the blood, the copper taste dancing on her tongue, finding it rather sweet to her taste.
A guiltless smile creep formed on her lips as she wanted more of that sweet flavor. She slowly turned her head to the boss and eyed his revolver. Her eyes shined when she saw the gun, a different object for her to obtain more of that sweet taste she crave, and slowly made her way to the boss.
“Stay back! Stay back you fucken monster!” He shoved Jurina away, as she feel to the ground, he start shooting again, but every shot missed Rena, leaving merely more scratches on her arms or cheeks. Rena reach up and grab the gun, but when she saw the hands still curled around it, she gave a displeasing frown, dropping the pipe to the floor, as she brought up her now free hand and forcefully broke the finger away, snapping several of his finger in the process. The man howled in pain, as she started to giggle when she heard his howl and finally retrieving her new toy to play.
“Ne… Oji-san…” Rena said between her giggle as she examine the gun in awed. Please to have a new object in her hand for her to use.
The boss took a step back and stumble to the floor on his butt as he stared up at her appalled. He didn’t reply as he was too frightened to even speak, his own voice escaping from him. He tried to speak, but he only choked on his own voice when Rena lucid sweet eyes met his. Those eyes that appears to be innocent yet they clearly lust for blood.
Rena went down on her knees as she leaned closed to him, place both of her palms on the ground at the man’s side, as her mouth move close to his ears. “…Okkotteru ~ ?” She crooned.
The man screamed and tried to shuffle away from her, but was suddenly stopped when the gun was shoved into his mouth. “Annoying trash. ~” She hummed with a grin. Tears started rolling how the boss’s cheek, in his mind he begged for mercy, he begged to God to spare his life. Rena was about to pull the trigger, but then something came to her mind. Stopping her action, she pulled the gun out of his mouth and stared at him expressionlessly. She tilted her head, and looked down at the revolver as she opened the cylinder, seeing only a two bullets left. “Ne… Let play a game. ~” She said sweetly, she pushed the man down roughly to the floor, being flat on his back, before she sat on top of his stomach. “Let’s play Russian Roulette. ~”
The man eyes widen in fear as he stared up at her.
She spilled the empty bullets to on the floor before closing the cylinder. She then spun it, twice and allowed it to stop on its own as pulled the hammer.
CLICK!
She gave a sweet grin, “Let’s play, Oji-san ~ !” She pointed the gun directly at his right thigh of his leg, and pulled the trigger.
BANG!
“AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!” The man cried in agony. He tried to get up and hold his shot thigh, but Rena kept him pinned down by grabbing his throat as he squirmed under her grip. He tried to grab her and push her off; when he tried the revolver was immediately brought up to his skull as fear took over him. He believed the next chamber would empty, but he wondered, was it really empty? He wonders, but he didn’t want to take the chances. He gritted his teeth very tightly, trying to endure the torturous pain, and continue to beg to God to save him.
Rena hummed a sweet tone as she enjoys watching him suffer under her wrath. She gave a giggle, and brought the revolver pointing at his chest this time. His heart currently beat frantically hoping the chamber was empty. She pulled the hammer again. CLICK!
The man closed his eyes and begged to God repeatedly in his head. When she was about to pull the trigger, the man, that just woken up after being knocked unconscious, tackled Rena to the ground, removing her off of his boss.
“Fucken monster, stay away!” The man shout as wrestled with Rena, trying to keep her pinned down beneath him. Rena started laughed and thrashed under his arm; she managed to kick him aside, changing their position as Rena was now on top of him, and held the revolver to his skull. Without hesitation she pulled the trigger.
BANG!
The bullet shot through the man’s head as he was now lifeless, blood oozing out from his head as another pool of blood started to form.
“Hahaahaaaa.” She dropped the gun, and cupped the blood from the pool as she watched it seep between her fingers, spilling like sand in an hour glass, as it drizzled on top of the lifeless head, drizzling the man’s own blood on his own dead face.
‘No this is not me... This is not me! Stop… Just stop already…’ The voice whimpers in the back of Rena’s mind. Hoping that the current Rena would stop, but she didn’t.
Rena was so absorbed from the blood bath she created as she wanted more. She lust for more blood. She wanted to imbrue her hands with more blood. She wanted more of that sweet scent. She slowly turned her head back to other man, the last remaining man, as she saw him trying to escape by crawling away, his shot leg leaving a trail a blood behind me.
Getting up from her spot, she slowly walked her way to the man.
“RENA STOP! PLEASE STOP ALREADY! JUST STOP!”
Rena stopped in her tracks when the voice called her name. Turning to the voice she saw tears streaming down from Jurina’s eyes. She stared at her blankly and tilted her head.
"Jurina-chan ~ ! " Rena called her name, a wide grin creeping on her face as she walked over to Jurina. Jurina couldn't move, she was too terrified to move, she felt as if something had glued to her the ground while she stare into those familiar, and yet unfamiliar eyes. The figure leaned forward, and wiped the small splattered blood off her cheeks. But the hand only smeared it more, and left more blood print on Jurina’s cheek because of Rena’s bloody hands. “Hehehee, I missed you. ~ !” Jurina couldn’t break away the eye contact from Rena as she noticed Rena was leaning close to her face.
‘No...! Stop! Leave her alone!’
Rena body stopped in her movement as her suddenly eyes grew wide. Jurina blinked several times, feeling Rena’s warm breathe as their lips were only several inches apart. She continues to stare into the eyes, finally recognizing the eyes she knew so long, those warm and sweet eyes she knew. The air around them finally felt normal, everything was becoming light once more, expect for the reek of massive blood spill that lingered around, but there was no long the berserk aura the other admitted.
“R-rena…?” She whispered, feeling like her breathe was taken away from her. She felt warm water dripping rolling down her cheeks as it wasn’t her own, they were Rena’s. Endless amount of tears dripped from the other girl’s eyes.
“I’m sorry… Jurina… I’m – I don’t know what… I’m --” Rena didn’t finished, she quickly moved away from Jurina and ran off. She couldn’t bear to see her own destruction. She couldn’t even face to see Jurina now. How much trauma she has caused for the two, especially Jurina, she couldn’t bear face her own actions. How was she going to face her? She wanted to get away; she wanted to drown herself in the sea of darkness where she didn’t have to face Jurina or anyone. Running down in a bloody mess, she held her head down as she ran passed Yuko and Yuki without knowing.
Yuki went into a halt, as Yuko continue running. Yuko somehow ran into Yuki when she was getting off her night shift work, as she told her the situation as Yuki decided to come along and help.
She turned to see the person that ran passed them, looking very familiar to her. Rena? She knitted her brow, unsure if it really was. Seeing the blood all over the person that ran passed by her, she couldn’t believe it would be Rena. Brushing the thought aside, she started to run again to follow Yuko. Then she notice Yuko was at a stop and facing into the alley terrified, blood completely lost from her face. When Yuki saw what Yuko was seeing, she gave the same expression too.
Blood every, two body lifeless on the floor, a man crying in pain as he tried to crawl his way, and two girls curled up, their head burry in the knees trembling. “Mayu, Jurina!” Yuko ran towards the two, trying to avoid splashing her feet into the pool of blood. As Yuki scrunched up her nose from the smell of blood, as it made her somewhat dizzy. She wonders how Yuko was able to go pass it without feeling sick by the smell.
“H-help me…” The man groaned, stretching his hand up to Yuki begging for help.
Yuki furrowed her brow and face the man, “What happen here?” She demanded an answer from him rather than helping him.
“A-a m-monster… M-monster… Aaaaaaaaah!” The man didn’t answer Yuki, realizing he was traumatized from whatever had happen, as Yuki just ignored him and rush her way to the others.
Yuko held Jurina in a tight hug, brushing Jurina’s back, and shushing her while Jurina whimpers and shook under the embrace.
Yuko kneeled down in front of Mayu, and lightly petted her head. “Mayu…” Yuki worriedly called Mayu’s name. Before she knew, Mayu tossed herself on Yuki and buried her face in her chest as she sobbed and trembled. Yuki would often push Mayu away when she did that, but now it was different. Wrapping her arms around Mayu, she pulled her into an embrace while she continued to pet her head. She wasn’t so good with comforting someone, she wished she was now.
“I-I was s-s-so s-scared…” Mayu murmured between her tears.
“Sssh. Don’t speak.” Yuki calmly said, and continue to pet Mayu.
“R-rena…. R-ena… S-s-save… u-us… f-f-from t-those men…” Jurina tried to calm down, but she was having trouble breathing and speaking between her sniffles. She wiped the tears from her eyes and took a deep breath. “T-they… t-t-tried to... r-r-rape u-u-us…”
They? Yuki and Yuko both thought as they took a glimpse at the scene.
Rena did all this? Yuki asked herself, surprised and terrified at the scene a single person made.
Oh, no. Yuko panic, she helped Jurina up to her feet, but her feet were still wobbly, she used Yuko as support. “Yuki, we need to get them out of here.”
Yuki nodded in agreement. “Mayu, can you—Actually, never mind.” Without second thought Yuki lifted Mayu in a bridal style. The only life time chance Mayu would probably ever experience it from Yuki. Mayu kept face buried into Yuki and was still crying Mayu actually enjoyed the feeling deep down, but she was still traumatize about the scene as the enjoyment was easily brushed away. “Yuko, whose place, is closer?” Yuki turned to Yuko.
“Mariko’s.”
Yuki gave another nod, allowing Yuko to take the lead as she steadily moved Jurina with her. Jurina close her eyes trying to avoid seeing the sight, but the smell. She still could smell the blood everywhere, making her feel weaker, but she held on until they were out of the alley.
Yuki followed them, with Mayu in her arms, until she stopped when she heard a cry man.
“Please…. Help me…” He begged.
Yuki couldn’t help feel this anger building up inside of her, what he and his friends have done to Mayu and Jurina was reprehensible. Without hesitation, she ended up taking all her anger out by kicking the man in the ribs, hard enough to break a few ribs cages, as he cried in agony. “Better pray for the ambulance to save you. Better yet… Die in hell.” She spat the words to him coldly before following Yuko and Jurina out of the alley, and leaving the man to die.

There was a knock on the door as Mariko came over, and opened up. Her brows were raised when she saw for the four. “What’s up?”
“Can we allow the two to rest here?” Yuko asked sound very worried.
Mariko was curious, but she didn’t argue and accepted their request. Yuko and Yuki explained what they saw, and what Jurina told them, in another room while Jurina and Mayu slept. Understanding the situation, Mariko allowed them to stay overnight. And from there on, Yuko and Yuki found out that Rena had encaged herself within her own room. They called her out several times, tried to persuade with food, and nothing worked. Yuki had the urge to just tear the door right there, but Yuko stopped her because of the bills they would have to pay. With an irritated sigh, Yuki didn’t tear down the door into shreds as they continue to try different tactics.

PRESENT
Yuko couldn’t help but give another heavy sigh as she didn’t want to bring back the past. “What reason do you need to know is what I need to ask first?”
“She is my precious friend in the past.”
Yuko gave a quizzical expression at Yuki’s statement. “What? I never met you when we were little.” She started feel a little irritated for some reason. Her hand curled into a fist, ready to punch Yuki at any moment.
“That’s because I moved before I met you likely.” Yuki notices Yuko’s hand curled into a fist as she decided to ignore it.
“Were…” Yuko took a deep breath, trying to calm her sudden irritation, “Were you… The person Rena waited for? Black…?”
Yuki raised a brow, confused at Yuko’s statement. “What?”
Suddenly, Yuko grabbed Yuki’s shirt by the collar and pushed her against the wall, sending a pain of shock through her spine, “Answer me! Were you Black?” Yuko teeth gritted together tightly as she was furious, as she couldn’t contain the irritation inside of her, why was she furious? She wonder that herself. She didn’t know why, when she recalled the past when she first met Rena, and saw pain in her eyes. Yet there were filled with hope, believing the person that Rena waited will come, but never once did, she just became furious. Furious that the person Rena waited for never came. Was that her answer? Yuko wonder as well.
“How do you know?” Yuki furrowed her brows, demanding from answer from Yuko instead of answering her question.
“Rena was the one that told me! Did you know she waited for YOU every day!? Never once she told me who Black was, she had high hopes that Black will send her something and she would then tell me then. Every day I see her staring at the mail box, whether shine or rain she still waited in front of it! She always had a big stupid smile of her face, but every time nothing came she took her depression and anger on someone else. Did you know!?” Yuko kept her anger, but tears started to blur her vision.
Yuki looked at Yuko’s eyes feeling all the guilt piled over her. She slowly shook her head as she never knew she caused Rena so much pain. “I’m… Sorry…” She mumbled bitterly, she didn’t know what else to say, as turned her head away.
“Don’t apologize to me… Apologize to her.” Yuko whisper irritatedly, letting go of her grip on Yuki, as she then wiped the tears away from her eyes. “She’s the one mourning.”
“…I know…”
There was complete silence between them, only the sound of Yuko sniffling echoed the hallways.
“But… One thing doesn’t clear up… No, two things, why doesn’t she remember me? And what do mean by the other Rena?” Yuki narrows her eyes at, hoping Yuko would full answer.
Yuko took another deep breath, her mind finally clear away, her irritation quickly vanish. She wiped the last remaining tears from the corner of her eyes, before she turned to face Yuki with a small frown. She hesitated for a moment wondering if Yuki should know or not. She gave a worried expression and fought against with her thoughts, until she finally decided to tell Yuki.
Her lips parted as she began to speak, “I can’t fully tell you what happen… But I can tell you what I saw.” Paused and saw Yuki giving an understanding nod.
“It was three years ago. Rena’s last year of high school. One day, a snowy day, she got into a fight with someone, who it was and reason I don’t know. I suddenly got a call from Rena, or I thought she called me, since she didn’t answer me when I spoke over the phone. I started hearing people screaming and giggling over the line. Then suddenly there was loud sound of wheels screeching then I lost connection. I immediately started searching for Rena.” She stared to grow silent. "And when I found her in the parking lot of her school.... She was bleeding to death." Yuko said painfully, recalling the dreadful memories, as she bit her lower lips. Her hand became into a tighter fist. “Blood everywhere… Snow soaked in blood. She was drench in blood herself, her head it was bleeding --the bleeding wouldn’t stop. It wouldn’t stop!”
She punched the wall behind her, “I was so useless when the ambulance came! I could only hope for the success of the surgery. So useless I was! I could merely watch, and patiently waited.” Her hand started quivering as guilt slowly piled on her when she couldn’t help Rena. “She was saved, just barely on time. The problem was she fell into a comatose state after the surgery. Day after day after day… She didn’t wake up. Months passed and she still hasn’t awakened, but she finally did late in the summer. She wasn’t the same though. Her eyes became softer, weaker, and fragile. It was as if the Rena I knew completely died in that even, although it was fine. As long she was a live it didn’t matter. She remembered me clearly, but when I mention Black. She didn’t recall who the person was; I didn’t want to tell her. I kept silence, and allow those memories to be completely forgotten so she can create new ones. Then I soon started to realize something was out of place after her discharge.”
She scrunched her nose, trying to call what happen. “Rena kept whimpering a voice inside her head, how it haunts her every day, how it kept telling her it lust for violence, for blood, for cries. The voice finally over whelmed her, and she suddenly became different. An insane aura radiated from her, it was as if a rapid vicious dog had been release, her eyes became the eyes I knew in the past, but… more vicious, more anger, I couldn’t believe it was her. It was as if her personality became split.”
She lifted her hand up, and touched her neck. “She tried to strangle me, but she managed to regain her mind before she suffocated me… From then on, the voice in Rena’s head would give her headaches, and take over her body and cause havoc. I manage to talk to the other Rena by beating her in a fight. And persuaded her, she promised to never appear again, or fight anyone, unless her heart grew weak. After that, the other Rena never appeared again as if she went into deep slumber.” Yuko finally finished as she scratched the back of her head.
She looked up at Yuki, who was utterly speechless and shocked. Yuko didn’t expected an answer from Yuki, she knew it was probably to sudden for her to absorb everything in her mind. She clasped her hand on Yuki’s shoulder. “Take your time… There’s no rush…” Yuko gave a small nod. “And can I trust you look over Rena for me? I need to get back to work before my salary gets cut and we lose the apartment.” She stared into Yuki’s eyes as Yuki gave a firm nod. “Good… If anything happens, call me. See you later.” Yuko started to walk away, but then stopped and turned to Yuki and giving her a soft smile. “Oh… Whatever your reason was, I’m sure you have a good reason.” Yuko turned back around and left the apartment.
Yuki stood there silently to herself. Her mind collected all the information Yuko told her. She imagined Rena in front of the mail box every day. Thinking about it, her heart started to feel like lead, but she didn’t shed tears. I’m sorry, Rena… I’m sorry. I… I…

There was yelling outside of Rena’s room earlier. She lifted her head up and tried to listen to outside, but the voice spoke kept speaking to her she couldn’t make out what they were saying, as the yelling finally stopped, and everything became silence.
‘Did you know she had been calling you?’ The voice wonders curiously, breaking the silence.
Rena furrowed her brows; she then heard the voice click her tongue before continuing. ‘She’s been calling over and over. Hehehe. ~ Can you not hear her voice? She desperately was trying to call you. Rena-chan! Rena-chan! Or better yet, Gekikara!’ The voice mimics the person she was talking about. ‘Hahahaaa, oh how cruel of you to forget.’
“I don’t know who you’re talking about! I never forgot anyone!” Rena snapped at the voice.
The voice gave a bone chilling giggle causing Rena to shiver, ‘Did your memories split too? I thought you still remember. Heheheee, no matter….”
“What do you mean? Split too!?”
‘Heheheee, how I about I give you a little refresher?’ Images started flashing into Rena’s mind, thousand of images flashing less than second. Rena shut her eyes tight; she held her head and curled into a tight ball, “Nngh!” Her head throbbed in pain, all these images, all these voices she heard in her head, everything was too much for her to handle she wanted it to stop. “S-stop!” She cried.
‘Gekikara! Don’t you dare forget!’ A familiar voice and scene replayed in her head.
Rena shot her eyes open, a sweat drop trickling down her forehead, as the images finally stopped, but those images, those voices, she knew what they were now.
“Yuki…” Rena whispered exhaustedly.
There was a loud knock on the door. “Rena? Rena, open up! What happen?” Yuki worried called on the other side of the door. She kept on knocking, hoping Rena would open.
“Yukirin…?” Rena eyes widen, finally realizing why that time was so familiar to her. She pushed herself off the bed and walked towards the door.
‘Hahahaaaa. ~ Now you remember some of it. Time for revenge. ~’
“Wait! There’s still more question I --” Then her mind snapped.
Rena placed a hand the back of her neck, and rubbed them as if her neck was sore, before she rolled her head around as her bone gave a crackling sound. The knocked continues as Yuki also continues calling Rena. A wide grin creeps on her face as a giggled slip out of her lips.
‘Wait! Don’t hurt her!’ The voice cried, pleading to her other self.
“I’m not going to. ~ I just want to greet her first before anything else. ~” She said kindheartedly, setting her arms back to her side as she walked to the door and open it.
Yuki stared down at Rena, as she held her head down hiding her eyes from Yuki. She gave a relief smile seeing that she was fine. But the smile quickly changed into a worried frown as she felt something was different. “Ren -- ” She was cut off when Rena suddenly pushed Yuki against the wall, her hand pinning Yuki against the wall by her arms as pain shot through her back once more, and wince. “R-rena…?” She murmured painfully, her eyes moved down as they met Rena’s. Slowly her eyes grew wide when she saw them. They were different. They were completely different; they look like child’s eyes, begging for entertainment. They lust for havoc. "Who... Who are you?"
Rena ignored her question and snaked her arms around Yuki’s neck, pulling her into a hug. As her face lean close to Yuki’s ear. “Tadaimaaaa ~ !” Rena hummed sweetly and giggled.
“Black ~ !”
