Now that they've beaten Yamapi's new single on the first day, I can't wait to see how desperate they'll get to boost his sales.

Here's hoping that Tsunku gives them similarly challenging material after this.

HOOOOOOLY SHIT! GUYS!

I was walking around Shibuya yesterday and I noticed MM had an event at tower record. I asked for the details in broken Japanese and I learned I had to come back today at 10 AM to buy the CD.

I woke up super early, arrived more than two hours in advance... and of course, MASSIVE CROWD already. DOH.
I asked around to the people next to me in line and they said our spots should be fine. After waiting close to three hours I managed to buy a cd and get a ticket! 7 hours later, I lined up again, crazy heat today... tons of sweaty people everywhere. I finally arrived at the venue, which is the cellar floor of the Tower records building. I had a pretty high number, but I was glad I managed to get in at all. I was standing at the 10th row, but I'm much taller than the average Japanese person so that was no prob.

It was the 123 release event with all 9th and 10th gen members!

They came out, they are so tiny and precious! They were supposed to perform one song, but they did:
- 123
- Renai Hunter
- Pyoko
- Talk
- 123 again
- Talk
- HANDSHAKES!!! OMGZOMG!!!

They were surprised to see a foreigner lmao, but most of them were super cool. Most impressive girls to me were Sayashi (red), Fukuchan (pink) and ...Kudo? The short haired one. Super cute.Kanon (green) was least impressive imo. She looked tired and spaced out.

Two things I noticed if I may compare MM to other idols I have met:
- What bugged me was that they don't pay attention to each other during MCs. When a girl talks, the others don't really listen and talk among themselved. It lacks interaction and team spirit.
- Compared to other idols, they have a strong handshake! They actually squeeze your hand quite hard. Very cool, didn't expect that from these tiny precious looking girls.

The live was epic btw. They definitely got that down. New era MM is looking good.

Sayashi/Fukuchan two top for sure.

Went to McDonalds afterwards to celebrate yet another great day in Tokyo.

Somehow the idea of you celebrating by going to McDonalds amuses me.

But that's great that you got to see them and that you're digging the new members and new single!

Too bad about Kanon, though.

There's been lots of talk about how she isn't feeling well mentally and how subdued she's been lately, though personally I think it's just fatigue from all the work that's been going on for the group...and from the looks of things, there's still a lot more work to be done!

The single dropped to #4 for the second day (Yamapi finally took #1

), but in a way it's not too surprising given the competition this week.

Oh yeah, and I actually ordered a copy! When it comes to music I usually skip singles and prefer to buy albums instead, but all the hype/buzz (as well as having some credit at YesAsia waiting to be used) inspired me to get the Limited C version. It should be coming in next week.

I feel like I just got transported back to the 80s.

On another note, cheap UFA bastards are cheap. Reusing the same dance set? Seriously? For the 50th anniversary single? *shakes head*

And here I was hoping for a cooler PV. Ah well. Maybe they should shoot a dance shot on the streets or something o_o That'd be something.

If I had a say in how The Matenrou Show was supposed to look like, I would go for a darker background to juxtapose against the brightness of One Two Three. And definitely changing the outfits. For once, Momusu, do street-casual. 80s dance club...sure. Just don't give them the hair and the bell bottoms and I'm cool with that.

Besides, paying attention to the lyrics of TMS makes me cringe. Why are you making tweens sing this?! "Do it to me baby"? Seriously? *facepalms* Maybe it's the standard Engrish, but still.

Seconding Estrea's comment about street casual clothes as a possibility, too. Oh well, I suppose they spent all their extra money on the Shibuya ad and I can't fault them for that decision.

I also want to add that they've done street shots before -- please see Nanchatte Renai. Sure, there wasn't a coherent story narrative but it was a change from the "HI GENERIC DANCE SET DRAPED WITH RANDOM OBJECTS". At least they had a warehouse (prolly the same one in Resonant Blue, just lit up and with more crates and furniture) or even the abandoned building feel.

It wouldn't hurt to switch things up a little, seriously. Make them dance on a bloody rooftop if you have to. A carpark! A park! Anywhere but the damn studio with generic objects in the background!

The RR21 move was obvious, but did you notice some of the others?
I saw moves from The Peace, Souda! We're Alive, Kono Chikyuu, Iroppoi Jirettai, 3 2 1 Breakin' Out, and probably several others I can't remember right now.
I watched it a few more times just to see if I could identify some more!

Plus I couldn't keep my eyes off Fukuchan! She was owning the dance as usual!
Seriously, if you're hung up on the set and costumes being the same, you're missing out.
I dunno about you, but when I'm watching Morning Musume, I'm watching Morning Musume.

Another thing that should also be pointed out: it's the Dance Shot. Not saying the regular version is guaranteed to have tons of money/changes behind it, but it says right there in the beginning in English what to expect. "One Two Three" had its Dance Shot version released first too, in case you forgot. Of course, maybe this means they'll throw in some last minute CG buildings or something.

Well I am a bit baffled because Kono Chikyuu/Kare to issho ni had obviously different types of MVs and different sets of outfits, so they're obviously capable of doing it and just didn't now. Wut. I completely understand people being disappointed, especially since this is the 50th single. Being disappointed with the management doesn't mean a fan still can't enjoy this video for the girls... But there are times when you think, oh come ON, they could've done better. And I think this is one of those moments.

I apologize if I offended you with my grouchiness.

I do love the song, and I already gave up with the whole cheapness value. There are still things that can be done on a shoestring budget though, just...ohwell. Not the right place to discuss this.

I suspect I will love this song in a concert. Everything about it screams CONCERT SONG!!!!! Now picture the whole wave of wota dancing and swaying from side to side with the girls. I can see it happening. Hell, I wanna be there.

They can't really capture the energy level on video, so yeah...part of Momusu's charm is their energy when performing live. I miss going to one of their concerts!
