FIRST WEEK: 100,598https://twitter.com/hisaka2u/status/222505243689226240An awesome combination of quality music, fresh new faces, and one hell of a promotional push by management, and this success comes as no surprise! Even though tough competition meant only snagging a #3 ranking, I think we can all agree that 100k is a more significant number to achieve. More important than 50 consecutive top 10 singles, which you know they were gonna snag eventually; a strong showing on a list that many people still place in high regard serves as a reminder that Momusu and H!P are still relevant. Don't call it a comeback, they've been here for years.
Shit, just looking at that initial sales number at the time of release...already impressive sales
for one day! Seeing this kind of success is like
a bright ray of light in midsummer, though it comes as no surprise with such
ambitious promotion. While the general buying public can be
fickle-minded princesses when it comes to purchasing idol music, one has to admire this
victory. For years many Momusu fans have asked
why can't these girls stand out, and many critics thought we've been witnessing a
sad twilight to their existence, but
I wish I can see the look on their faces now when they realize that this just might be a
revolution instead. Of course, maybe the boost in sales is merely a
fake love for a trendy-sounding song...all I can say,
my dear boy, is that in an industry where the fleeting nature of success can feel like
a big fish that got away, where having top dog status is as fragile as a
soap bubble, this scrappy group of
noisy girls still manage to
hold on to relevance no matter what kind of
unexpected contradictions come their way. They're more than just a bunch of
helpless dream chasers...
that's right, they're alive. Seeing this single sell so well makes me
want to open a shop with someone to sell even more copies, but until then
only you can add this to your own
collection. I mean, damn, to realize that they've reached 50 singles and are still going, I think
I might cry...and I have a feeling
the tears won't stop after school. It's definitely a
happy summer this year, a great
memory for the light of our youth.
A bit of a long rant there, but I just had to
do it now. I got some other stuff to say about this single, but I'll get to that later...until then,
peace out!
