Official Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Thread.
« on: May 22, 2012, 11:57:36 AM »
Sorry if a thread like this has already been posted.   I'm new here, but wanted to see if others here train in BJJ.   If you do please give a little info about yourself by filling out this small introductory below.

How long have you been doing BJJ?
What do you like best about BJJ?
What belt level are you?
Gi or No Gi?
Favorite Submission?
Favorite Position?
Favorite BJJ athletes?
What inspired you to start BJJ?

Here's mine.

How long have you been doing BJJ:  Off and on for about 8 years.

What do you like best about BJJ:      It's a great workout and it gives the smaller person a better chance to beat someone who is bigger, stronger, and                faster.   Also, I love the chess game aspect of it.

What belt level are you:   Purple Belt

Gi or No Gi:  I like both, but I prefer No Gi.

Favorite Submission:  Bicep Slicer

Favorite Position:  Guard.

Favorite BJJ athlete: Demian Maia, Rickson Gracie, Marcelo Garcia.

What inspired you to start BJJ:   After watching Royce Gracie take the UFC by storm in the early UFC's, always have been wanting to do it.

I never personally did BJJ although I took up judo which is less vicious and always required a gi

But I would have been interested if I was still in high school because now after the shoulder injury that made me quit judo, I can't really do too much except sports that does less with the shoulder :nervous
