Indeed its a good single with good songs inside.
but, it just plain good. The PV as always, too simple. It even not match with the song (one up!!!).
but.. yeah, they definitely getting more popular.

After a long review in OU/IG singles, i found something interesting from my point of view :

1. One Up!!! is definitely a catchy song, but somehow i feel that it resembles some of Idoling!!! typical song (even i confused which one)
2. Ichigo Gyuunyuu is a great "idol-type" song (PV prove it all), a sweet girl song, i think it will match for Teen-Dorama Movie theme.
3. Megami no Pulse in my opinion should be main singles, not coupling. This is what Idoling!!! should expose to fans, upbeat song, very Idoling!!!-sound, and also very Idol-typical songs. People (in general term) should be friendly with this kind of song, even me (just 2-3 times)
4. Sayonara Junjou is another great song, combine with some western-sound ambience, i feel that this song should be promote more. Its unique sound reminds me of SUNRISE-package albums (i think is the best Idoling Albums so far).

If i was Kado-P, then the singles will be double-A Megami no Pulse & Sayonara Junjou with One Up!!! as a coupling track, Ichigo Gyuunyuu maybe i'll put in a dorama-based song

btw i was just kidding

I think that this single-package was a great work & masterpiece, with a lot potential inside it, behind "bikini" cover-shot & sexy PV.

Now that I think about it, why didn't they make a PV with the bikinis they're wearing on the covers... they're brilliant.
Granted the outfit doesn't really fit One Up!!!, hence the black outfit. But then again, the black outfit isn't really fit for a cover. So it's a bit of a mix-up between covers vs PVs...
So people who don't know Idoling!!! buy this single by seeing the cover and the advertising, will nowhere find those outfits on the DVD/Bluray... They didn't even include the making of the cover shoot on it.

I've been working on my oricon data a bit more, sorted out some idol groups, filled in the gaps from the last 2 months, and this is the result so far: Group Rankings

So far, I've made 2 lists:
- all idol groups and most of their singles (since around 2007) with highest chart position and total sales (not 1st week sales).
- all idol groups sorted by their highest selling single, and their highest ranking (each with their respective song that got them that position, because it can be different from the highest selling one. Also it is the first single to reach that chart position)

I plan to make another list which shows weekly sales for each single. I've also got a graph in mind to compare chart position & sales from all idol groups together (need to test it out to see if it's actually readable ;p).

I have noticed so far, that if one leaves out S☆G and momokuro's last single (which got 80k+ each), Idoling!!! tops every other idol group that is not 48 or HelloProject related.
If I've forgot any idol groups interesting for comparison, feel free to let me know, then I will add them.
Also, when oricon releases this week's sales tomorrow, I will update it.

Looking forward to the other charts and graphs you mentioned.

Interesting to see how the non-Morning Musume H!P units are all quite close together.

I can't believe French Kiss outsold Perfume. That's just crazy, even though I'ma FK fanboy, haha.

Excluding solo releases and one shot units, there is one regular active AKB48 related unit you left out: DiVa. They may be relevant because their sales are in the 55K~70K area.

Because DTF and eve first week sales didn't pass 40k.

Also Yarakai Heart got monthly 47k and with first week 42k. Where did you get that 45k?

I've added first week sales as an extra column.
I've also made a third list at the bottom which is the best selling single sorted by first week sales.
And updated with today's weekly sales.

So One Up!!! is actually Idoling!!!'s second best single in terms of first week sales, surpassing DTF by 105 copies. So that's actually not bad

Hmm, the reason for Yarakai heart total sales to be lower is because I've only scraped the weekly sales. So if they fall out of the chart, I don't have data on that.
But there seems to be something strange about the monthly sales... (just what time period does oricon use for monthly sales?)
Yarakai heart:
1st week: 42691 (3/14)
2nd week: 2691 (3/21)
not charted 3/28 & 4/4 (this is 3/22-3/28 due to oricon's strange date system...)
weekly that totals 45382, that leaves 2397 for the rest of the month.
However those singles ranked in 50th position have 982 (3/28) and 1063 (4/4), which is only 2045 (it would be less for YH).
So if oricon's monthly ranking are on the actual 1st till last day of the month, that leaves (3/29-31) with at least 352 for YH.
Anyway, the totals on my page are from the weekly charted sales, so sales outside of the top 50 are not counted... I can try to put some manual corrections into my db to account for these differences.
Data outside of top 50 is very hard to find, and what I did find were just excerpts (like only 48-groups for example)...

Awesome work, Hatix. Thanks for doing the hard lifting.

My only suggestion is to compare only via the first week sales figures and sales ranking only, since it's a better apples-to-apples comparison. There is no time bias, and I noticed that some of your sales data doesn't go beyond the first week (i.e. the total sales and first week sales are the same).

Also, would love to see the average sales figures of all the "idol" singles released every month to see if there is any pattern between certain months having better sales in general than other months.

Well, the reason why first week and total sales are sometimes the same is because this is all based on the weekly top 50 sales. If they drop out of the top 50 in the second week, I don't have data.

It's based on the data that oricon posts publicly. If you can find data on top 100/200 somewhere, that would be great.

I've updated the page a bit again: I've switched the first week and total sales columns, now first week chart position and sales are next to each other which is easier to read/compare.

I noticed something.

The first week figure for "Kmi wa Jitensha..." on Oricon was actually 40 060 not 4714. Total 46096.

Making it 47242 copies in total, now 2nd highest selling single for Idoling!!! And likely to stay that way, since it's still about 9000 until MAMORE!!!.
