Dodgers are OUT! Phillies will represent the National League in the World Series. Shane Victorino is becoming quite the celebrity, even getting the attention locals in Hawaii for the SPAM musubi controversy:

For S. Victorino to get the national spotlight is a helluva big deal. Hawaii should be proud, especially since making it big in Philly is just as hard as it is in New York, The Greatest City In The World (do they still say that on "Late Show with David Letterman?").
Not that this hasn't come about without careful cultivation of the landscape. From spring training Victorino went about a PR campaign to increase his brand name with Phillies fans, doing interviews and stuff. He was even miked for Game 5 of the NLCS, just like a friggin' "reality" show.
He's riding the wave of positive pub due to matching up with important sporting cliches and archetypes: gritty, scrappy, CLUTCH, playing The Game The Right Way, etc. He's overrated and underrated at the same time. Also he's not talking li'dat pidgin English on national TV. The SPAM connection is enough!
