Chapter 9
(Day 9)
Minami was in the middle of class when Acchan suddenly came running in.
"Takamina guess what!" Atsuko said.
"Acchan I'm in the middle of class. Wait until after." Minami said.
"But I have to tell you now!"
"Acchan no!"
"Maeda-san you are disrupting class. Please leave the room." the teacher said.
"But this is really important!"
"Make it quick."
"Ok. Takamina look what I found!"
Atsuko pulled out an old photo book of Minami back when she was in grade school. She looked a lot different back then and hated it. She thought she threw that old book out but Atsuko must've had a copy.
"Look it's me and you back in grade school!"
Atsuko pointed to the picture of Minami and her on the swing set. That picture was really embarrassing because in the picture Minami was upside down flashing her underwear at the camera.
"Takamina you looked so cute!"
"Let me see!"
"Me too!"
Everyone started to gather around Atsuko to see Minami.
"This is worse than my own mother!" Minami thought.
"Takamina you look cute in this one!" Haruna said.
"She looks like a boy in this one." Jurina said.
"Takamina are you eating glue in this one?" Yuko said.
"That's enough!"
Minami took the photo book and threw it out into the hall. Then she grabbed Acchan and threw her out as well.
"I'll talk to you later."
When class ended, Minami found Atsuko waiting out in the hall.
"What was that all about?" Minami said with an angry tone.
"I wanted to show you what I found." Atsuko said.
"Why didn't you wait until after class?"
"I wanted to show you really badly and couldn't wait."
"You embarrassed me in front of everyone!"
"I'm sorry Takamina."
"Don't talk to me for a while. I need to think about it."
"I'm sorry."
Atsuko hugged Minami and then walked away. Minami felt bad about yelling at Atsuko so she tried to run after her. But suddenly her body became weak and she couldn't move. Her chest started thumping like crazy and she was having a hard time breathing. She fell to the ground and passed out soon after.
"Oi Minami!"
Minami opened her eyes and saw Mariko staring at her.
"Mariko? What happened?"
"You had an attack. The pace maker alerted me so I rushed over and got you. You're in my office now." Mariko said.
"How long have I been out?" Minami asked.
"A couple hours. The pace maker brought you back but you were still out."
"What exactly happened?"
"Well the only thing that could cause that is a lot of stress. Did you get into a fight with someone?"
"Yeah with Atsuko."
"Well there's your problem. Your heart rate went up to unstable levels and the pace maker couldn't keep up with it."
"So what do I do now?"
"Well I could set the pace maker to a stonger setting but that's going to take a while. So for now just take your pills and go. Try to relax a little and don't do anything that would make that heart rate go up."
"Alright thanks Mariko."
Minami took her medicine and then left. It was four o clock which meant Atsuko was just getting out of school. Minami thought she could make it in time if she caught a ride. She got on a bus and off to school. When Minami got there most of the kids were already gone. But she knew Atsuko was there because her bike was still parked. Minami walked into the school and started searching for Atsuko.
"Acchan! Where are you?"
Minami wandered the halls and still couldn't find her. Atsuko was no where in sight.
"Acchan!"
"Takamina?"
Minami turned around and sae Rena staring at her.
"I'm looking for Acchan. Have you seen her anywhere?"
"I think she's on the roof. She looked pretty upset to. I wonder what's wrong."
"Ok thanks Rena!"
Minami got up to the roof as fast as she could. There leaning up against the fence was Atsuko with a blank expression on her face.
"Acchan."
Minami started to walk towards Atsuko but then Acchan started to walk away.
"Acchan!"
"Don't talk to me!'
Atsuko started to run making it difficult for Minami. But in the end she was able to catch up to her and latch onto Acchan like a koala. She held on for dear life not moving and inch.
"Let go of me!"
"Acchan stop!'
"Let go!"
"No! Acchan I'm sorry!"
Atsuko stoppped moving. She looked over at Minami with tears filled in her eyes.
"You really mean it?" she said.
"Yes I mean it. I'm really sorry for what I did and I feel terrible. I wasn't thinking and I ended up hurting you. I'm really sorry Acchan. Can you please forgive me?"
"Hmmm...."
Atsuko looked at Minami with judgemental eyes. Then she finally said,
"Ok I forgive you but on one condition."
"What?"
"You have to let me take a picture with you."
"Eh?"
Atsuko reached into her bag and pulled out a photo book.
"I made this to put in pictures of you in it. Look."
Atsuko showed Minami all the pictures she took. Some of them were of her but most of them were of Minami. She had pictures of Minami when she was laughing, eating, sleeping, even studying. It was like Atsuko was her little stalker.
"Why did you make this?" Minami asked.
"Because I wanted to keep them as memories." Atsuko said.
"Why?" Minami thought atusko knew about her heart.
"Because I like to have them so I can look back at them in the future."
"Ok so you want to take one of me with you?"
"YES!"
"Alright then let's get over with it."
"Ok say cheese!"
Atsuko took the picture and Minami blinked from the flash.
"Wait I think my eyes were closed." Minami said.
"Too bad. It's going in the book!" Atsuko said.
"No Acchan I want you to have good photos of me."
"I like silly ones too."
"Acchan!"
